RES Posted January 1, 2020 Report Share Posted January 1, 2020 Obligatory RES challenge disclaimer: At the end of the last challenge I fell off the face of the earth...because I became a grandma!! 😍 (excuse the glasses, I'd drove for 17 hours and my contacts were irritating my eyes) This little one is the reason I will always be broke... Also the reason I disappeared and my goals kinda got put on the back burner for a bit...needless to say she will be the reason I recommit to them because I want to be around for a long time to see her grow up 🥰🥰 6 years ago tomorrow I joined NF...all my challenges are in my signature if you suffer from insomnia 🤣 I've learned a lot about what doesn't work for me but also learned what does...for example I learned a lot last year...2019 was a tough one, I almost lost a lot more than I wanted to, though at the end of it things had definitely improved on many aspects...this year we're moving forward with the knowledge we've learned and earned! My basic structure of last years challenges worked so well for me that I've given them a new acronym and am going to use it again The Plan.... Food: Continue (okay, start again) making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. Exercise: I'm following NYAR 10K currently, points for when I do what is scheduled (including rest days) Training plan my fluctuate depending Down Time: Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. This also includes excursions with friends, or anything else I want it to! UP: As in "Give UP" anything that does not work for or serve me...this year is about being a bit selfish. I'm also going to give up some debt this year, we'll pay off the first major expense and possibly get two eliminated! What would a RES challenge be without some 5k's? RES Posted January 5, 2020 Author Report Share Posted January 5, 2020 OMG, YAY!! I get to go to work tomorrow!! One of the perks of working in MiLB is the two weeks off at the holidays...even with the chaos and road trips during this one I'm still bored out of my freaking mind...but for the first time ever I've managed to not go in to work during this break (but I did remote in three times, baby steps) 🤷♀️ Since getting back from Oklahoma not much has been going on in my world (except binge watching the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Prime)...I haven't been to the gym, I have spent a lot of time planning, budgeting, and figuring out how to pay for our cruse this year, as well as generally being lazy. I did watch the first two movies in the dark knight series of Batman (no, I haven't seen them before) and started re-watching the original Matrix movie last night (it was late, we were tired, we'll finish tonight) the other two are next since I haven't seen those either (i know, I'm losing geek points by admitting this) 🙃 The Plan.... I've missed plenty of 80s action classics (Terminator, RoboCop, Back to the Future, Alien and the list goes on forever) due to my parents' warped sense of culture, aesthetics and Hollywood but I'm catching up and that's all that matters. RES Posted January 12, 2020 Author Report Share Posted January 12, 2020 Back on track for the most part...few things were not as planned but overall it was a good week. My son called and my beautiful granddaughter is back up to 7lbs I'm certain she's telling her dad she wants to come to FL in this picture! The Plan.... Food: 6/7 Back on track now that the holidays are over...D and I hung out with the mama's yesterday so didn't really stick to the plan Exercise: 5/7 skipped one day at the gym and didn't do my 5k this weekend...D asked if we could go to breakfast instead and while it may not have been the best choice no regrets Down Time: 7/3 almost too much of this... Got an email from my Submariner this week, also got news that a good friend of mine from years ago made the decision to discontinue her treatment and let nature take its course (she has type 1 diabetes and has been on daily dialysis for almost 10 years) she's at peace with her choice, has said her goodbyes, it's tougher on those she's leaving behind.
