Starpuck Rolls With Advantage - Double 20's

I don't pay much attention to new years (my most hated holiday) but I do love me some Nat 20's, and at least this new year brings that to the table.  Hah!  Table... love it when it happens on accident.   Anyway.    One of the best chances to get a Natural 20 in gaming, is if you roll with advantage.    You get to roll with advantage if you have a certain skill set, or strong proficiency, or if the situation you're in presents you with a reason to make the task easier.    It's never just a random thing.   In other words, you have to do something to set yourself up for the advantage.    For me, my single biggest factor in rolling with advantage, is the arcane school of "Consistency."      We're starting this new campaign off with a goal of becoming proficient in consistency once more.

 

The goal for January is to start building consistent habits.    Key word.  Build.   I'm not looking to pour the cement on Monday the 6th, and immediately have The Sears Tower (er Willis Tower... whatever it is now.)    I realize that habits are built over time, and that there will be missed days and slips and slides.      So I am going to be tracking a LOT of things to start; but also not worrying about a set number of doing them each week.  

 

Active abilities:  Exercise, broken into the following - strength, cardio, stretching, active recovery, other.

Self Care abilities: Night time routine, consisting of the following - teeth brush, teeth floss, wash face, mud masks, 11pm lights out time.

Creative abilities: Sketching, tablet art, art lessons, D&D prep, other.

Food abilities: Tracking calories, or, on occasions I cannot - intuitive eat in place of tracking, planned indulgences.

 

Some of these, I will start off with setting goals to do them so often because without that, I might get lazy.    But we're also going to focus on flexibility.    Move 5x a week, sure!   Maybe I really want 3x to be strength but I end up with my hip nagging me, or a sinus infection that makes heavy lifting really unappealing and perhaps not the right choice for my body?  Fine, but don't let good reasons turn into cheap excuses.    I still get credit on 'moving' if I opt for stretching or yoga that day instead of the lift.   Things like that...

 

In August, I was doing really well with my pull up program, and I set a goal of being able to do Tom Holland diagonal walking pull ups...   I will have to work hard to get back to that but I think I can still make it for the goal date of End Game's Anniversary.  (April 26th)   That's basically 4 months.   If I lose the weight I've gained and get back into the strength routine, that should be plenty of time.  

 

I have everything plotted out in my new, bigger, better 8x10 Bullet Journal, so my check in's here will be either a snapped pic of the bujo, or a quick 'alls well' and some deets on anything that came up.    Once we get through this first challenge, we'll see how things are lined up for #2.

So, getting things settled for next week.      Got my BuJo filled out and ready - nothing fancy this time @Raxie  - just good old fashioned data collection layouts!  Rarr.   I also decided that I am going to work really hard to bust out of my comfort zone this year.   So I added some one and done challenges, under the '5 Weeks, 5 Goals' marker.    And one of them is already planned and paid for even!

So the 5 Goals in 5 Weeks are:

1) Post a video;  can be an art stream or a game stream, but do it nice and post it.

2) Do something bold with my hair appt.   Take a risk.  Learn to live with the results.

3) Plan a cultural outing; theater, symphony, etc.

4) Take myself out on a date.

5) Go on a winter hike.

 

So for the hair... wow.   Gonna be tough.   This is my normal every day hair.

I think this will require daily curling to get the shaggy wavy look - but we'll see.  

 

The planned cultural even, that I managed to talk some of my non-artsy friends into... is the NIeR Automata Concert Orchestra!!    It's the music from the video game (I never played it, but it's a Square Enix game and they typically have exceptionally strong soundtracks) played live, with vivid animations from the game run on a large screen behind the orchestra.    This will take place on Jan 24th.     I am SO excited guys.   For a taste of what it will be like...

I love the Alexa Chung hair. If it helps, I twist my hair up in lil buns to sleep in and when I take it down in the morning it's nice and curly. Lovely hair, minimal effort. Give it a try!

Hey hey all!  Thanks for tagging along!

 

I am ready to kick bubble gum and chew ass.   SHIT!  Reverse that.    Of course, as often happens when the brain is rearing to go... the body says, ... Bwuahahahah suck it!      Last weeks week long brawl with lots of sinus drainage (just in the throat) - yesterday turned to the nose.  Non-stop sneezing and now congestion to boot.  (But hey the throat dripping is done...?  Yay?)  My eyes burn, my head throbs, and I have a constant sensation of a sneeze at the ready.     Not ideal for hitting my first workout in weeks.

 

But, I made a point of saying reasons can't be excuses, so I am going to try and do SOMETHING today.  Even if it's just some stretching, or work with the resistance bands once I get home.

 

There is also art on tap, and the first night of trying to get my new evening routine in place.    I need to draw a new pic of Solla, my Outrider turned Mercenary in our Warhammer game, because a friend reached out to his friend, and has agreed to paint my new Solla mini for $15.   Total steal!   But I need to provide the pics as reference, or at least ideas.  No problem, because I know a budding artist!  Hah.

 

Will check in later after things get going... hoping this cold vanishes soon.

Good on you! I find that when I feel like crap exercising makes me feel a little bit better while I'm doing it (sometimes a bit worse after, but lets not think about that, shall we?)

Day 1 Under the Belts ...

 

And it went not according to plan at all, lol.    I didn't do "Anything" move related because plans spiraled out of control.    I thought I'd get home, eat, clean up, do my Monday night Northgard game with my viking pal, then stretch, then art.   

 

  • Dinner - of which I was not the cook, took 1.5 hours to even hit the table, that puts us at 7pm.   
  • Thankfully, I did my art before hand -and found total frustration.     New updated program, GREAT!   All my custom settings I came to love over the last 4 years of using old program --- gone.   SHIT!    Because new program is relabeled NA version of old   one, you can't have both running at the same time to make for easy copying.   A few google searches later and I found a maybe solution.  Which I did last night, right before bed... we'll see how it works tonight.
  • The NG game was also super challenging.   We normally finish one in 45m-1h10.  This one took 2.25 hours!!  Which just threw everything else off.
  • Since schedule got totally borked, and I didn't even stretch.   Blah.   Oh well.  Just need to be on my game rest of the week.
  • I did get my face scrubbed and lotioned, and did the full teeth regime before hitting the bed at 10:58, so I made all the night routine goals.  

Really only missed the thing of doing some kind of movement.   But I am also sick.   So, doing ALL the other things (food got tracked too) despite a shifting schedule, is pretty okay I think!

Day 2.

 

Ehm all good?

  • Food tracked.
  • Baby lift, do do-do do do-do...  (kicked way way back low on weights and just took it slow)
  • Arted on the tablet (got all my settings imported, woo)
  • Currently wearing a Dead Sea Mud Mask (after having scrubbed face)
  • Teeth are getting washed after my graham cracker snack.
  • Then bed by 11pm.

Also cranked out the week one goal of "Post a video" - I have a bigger and better project in the works, but that ones going to take more than a few days and so have this one instead, lol!     It's a bit of a speed paint of putting my NF PBP D&D character to ink, then a real time part of me painting her flame hair.   Because she's a Fire Genasi Barbarian, obviously!

Woo for getting in a baby lift even though you feel awful! Also, now that song is in my head, so thanks!

 

It's kinda cool to see the drawing process like that, I've watched my brother sketch a few things before and it's always fascinating, especially because I can't draw a straight line with a ruler, so it's a completely foreign process to my brain.

Day 3.   Running so late!  

 

Food tracked.  (Way under budget actually.  Just wasn't hungry today.)

Exercised at home, after work, 45 minutes of Just Dance 2020 yeah.

Arted.  Finished up my 'ease back into it tablet art'.

I need to go wash face and do teeth really fast, and I might make it to bed by 11:20 which is absolute latest allowed bed time.

No workout tomorrow because of lunch with customer, then D&D night, but I am cooking a fresh meal for it.
