starpuck
Sunday Update - Week 2 Round Up I had a spectacular Sunday as well all! Tracked everything I ate, had home cooked food all 3 meals. (Or food at home at least, one was a Kodiak Cake Flapjack container.) I did not get any exercise in, which means I only hit a total of 4 days this week. But that's up from last week and getting closer to where I want it. It was also a really hard week to coordinate the work outs since we had two work luncheons and that's my normal workout time. Oh and I made a stir fry without a recipe, just throwing in various oils / seasonings / sauces as I wanted based on the smell. It turned out great! Plenty of art nights were done! So much so that I am straining my thumb. I tend to hold my tools (pencils, pens, forks, whatever) super tight. Basically, (and we're about to get really deep here because I had an epiphany about more soulful things) - I have this thing where I feel like the tighter I hold on to something, the more control I have over it. Wow! Right??! It's going to take some serious conscious effort to learn how to loosen my grip whilst drawing, but I am going to try. And this deeper tidbit into my noggin is super interesting. Being organized and liking my lists, and trying to make sure everything is all in order? That's great. If I keep a loose hold on it. But I try to sort out every last angle, reach into the furthest nooks and crannies to make sure no step is missed, no angle overlooked, no person not on board. In short. I have several coaches, each with four or more horses, and I try to hold all those reins SO DANG TIGHT! I need to learn to loosen that grip up a bit. It's not my job, nor my place, to try and control everything. I don't think I do this out of a sense of feeling like it has to be MY WAY. But because I have, my whole life, hung around people who are followers with very little self-motivation to take lead. It's just always ended up being me who looks around, sees the empty spot in the lead harness on the sled, and goes, "Well ok, someone gotta do it. Might as well be me." Then over the years, I began to lose faith that any of the other sled dogs are even capable of doing it right / good enough to give them a go even if they wanted to. This is not an ideal personality trait, and I must actively work on it. Any tips on how to work on that would be great to hear! So, that's the sum up! Great week 2 really. Just Wed was a bit of a problem. Week 3 is upon us, and the schedule is tentatively as follows: Spoiler Monday Lunch Lift 1 Northgard Game w/ MegaS Art Lesson D&D Prep Greedfall only if there is time. Tuesday Lunch Boxing D&D Prep Tablet Art Some Gaming with Nephew Wednesday Lunch Lift D&D Prep Art Thursday Lunch Box Sketch maybe? D&D Prep Warhammer Night Left over shrimp stir fry! Red1263
Congrats on a great Week 2, Puck! And your insight has reminded me of something. I'm not sure how much it relates to your epiphany, but there's definitely some parallels https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chariot_Allegory It's a metaphor for the human soul and it's drives to be rational and irrational, morals vs passions, etc. by using a man driving a chariot being pulled by two horses. Basically The gist of it is this: Quote The Charioteer (the man) represents intellect, reason, or the part of the soul that must guide the soul to truth; one horse represents rational or moral impulse or the positive part of passionate nature (e.g., righteous indignation); while the other represents the soul's irrational passions, appetites, or concupiscent nature. The Charioteer directs the entire chariot/soul, trying to stop the horses from going different ways, and to proceed towards enlightenment Your thought on holding things tightly reminds me of this. If you let the reins go, you lose your sense of self/guidance, and become loss, but if you pull them too tightly, then you don't move forward in your own life. 4 Quote Level 25 Final Fantasy Rebel My Epic Quest | My Journey | Currently on the Trial of Orthos Str: 60 | Dex: 23 | Sta: 66 | Con: 28 | Wis: 55 | Cha: 14 Goals for 2021: Spoiler Build my brother a Destiny 2 Lamp Learn how to do a Handstand Play 1 song on the acoustic guitar Clean up the Christmas Decorations and finish setting up my apartment (hang things up, plus some other few things that need to be organized) Re-introduce Pull-ups into my routine Build a shelving unit next to my Desk "No matter what, if you can hold your head up high, you've done the right thing." Red, that's so awesome and so deep and so accurate. I haven't had a chance to to look at the whole article yet, so I really appreciate you quoting the main thinking. I will definitely get back to read the rest. Thanks for taking the time to share that! I am horribly behind in updating because the week is getting away from me. I've maintained my streak through the weekend and into this week (Not that scale is rewarding me for any of this hard work, lol) and feeling good on that front. So far, I've worked out on Mon and Wed (strength days) aiming to get some yoga or boxing in today though I have the strongest case of DOMS I've had since restarting the regime. Oof. That's probably because, after 3 weeks of slowly getting my body used to exercise again, I faced my fear on pull ups. I always get the most discouraged with them because they take so much work to get, and can be lost so fast without consistent practice of them. I'm proud to report, that my 3 week rebuild of strength allowed me to net my last 'max reps in one set' number. But I could only do less of them each subsequent set. I'm not going to let this be a downer, and instead am choosing to rejoice that after not doing them since Dec 7th, I was still able to pull out more than one! Four more than one in fact. And that's awesome. Art has been worked on, at least a little, all three nights thus far this week. In addition to the d&d prep I've eeked out at work. Shhh. Tonight is Warhammer RPG night, tomorrow is that NieR Automata concert that I am super excited about, and then Saturday I run my game. Of course, we're supposed to get snow tonight, tomorrow and Sat. so everything is now a little more chaotic, but I will get through it. Going to keep focusing on pushing forward and meeting goals and stuff. Super busy weekend and I better get to it. I am planning to try and catch up with all of you this afternoon after getting some more of my game session work down for this weekend. 6 Quote Level 81 ~*~ Ranger Deviant Art Gallery || YouTube Channel Current Challenge "It is difficult. starpuck
Thanks for all the insight ya'll. I always try to weigh my initial thoughts on things and see if I am being unequally compromising on matters. (Because at this point it's not so much a conscious MY WAY, as it is there's just been no counterpart to have to even consider compromise with.) Anyway. Yesterday - no work out, I was way way too sore and pretty stressed. My food was fine up until dinner. Thursday is game night, with all aforementioned folks in attendance lol. Friend C brought tacos and donuts, (I think because, when Friend B and I were talking on discord, he hopped in right at the meatiest part, uninvited and he felt bad and this was his way of trying to apologize). I was starving and wanted to eat both, and so I did. Without tracking and without any sort of restraint. It had been a full week since I'd gone past my intent, so we're still making progress on the 'less chaos eating'. Sleep has been poor. Overthinking will do that. Tonight I am going to see the NieR Automata Orchestra concert. My hair turned out super cute, and I am still sore - and it's supposed to snow and be miserable tonight, so I am probably not working out. I want to stay pretty for the concert, and I need to go straight to friends house after work, pick him up, then pick up other friend from his work, then up to the theater, all in the midst of Friday rush hour traffic during a snow storm that's expected to drop 2-6". I will use today's lunch to finalize all my D&D prep, and then tomorrow morning I will do some at home strength stuff. Sunday I will dance, and that will still net me a total of 4 days. 3 strengths and a cardio. Slowly ticking that count back up to 5 days. Next week should be way easier to manage things as there are less things on the schedule. (Well shoot, except for I did re-sign up for that Wed night church group with my friend hahaha. Ah well. We'll figure it out.) Still need to catch up with you all. 7 Quote Level 81 ~*~ Ranger Deviant Art Gallery || YouTube Channel Current Challenge "It is difficult. All things worth keeping are." thekatisalie
Just want to jump in super late and drop my sage advice as a divorced woman who is now engaged again. You are not crazy. You never want to sacrifice those make or break things... I did and it did end up coming back to me in the end. My partner and I both lost ourselves because we gave up too much of what we didn't realize were the most important things to us until a little bit too late. I am so glad you know those things NOW. Hold on to them, because they are important! ❤️ 1 Quote Level 24 Frost Archer ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ Current Challenge: thekatisalie is back :: no seriously this time MyFitnessPal || Strava || SmashRun || Twitch I Instagram. obax
Another late weigh-in on relationships from someone who is happily single and always has been. I've always felt that, until you know how to be with yourself, it will always be challenging to figure out how to be with someone else. It sounds like you've gotten good at being with yourself, which has led to you knowing what's important to you and what you want both in life and in a partner. It also sounds like you were both very adult about it and your friendship will continue to persevere, which is great because it sounds like it's a valuable relationship to you both. It's natural to be a bit sad, until now it was 'No, but what if maybe?' and now it's just plain 'No', and you're mourning the loss of that possibility (even though you knew it wouldn't work, knowing and feeling are two different things).
