Yasha92
Ahoy-hoy friends! Welcome to my first challenge of the new decade! Starting things off with a mix of every-day goals (teeth, bedtime) and by-the-end-of-the-challenge goals (ride my bike, pay off the credit card, chip away at subject readings for class), the last set of 'goals' are really more like 'get-back-to-pre-holiday-weirdness' (gymming twice a week, going to Auslan practice, DnD-ing). Extrapolation of the goals + GIFs!: Bedtime- go to bed at 10pm each night. Have a warning timer at 9.30 to remind me to take my meds and get myself sorted. Buddy-goal: charge my phone on the drawers, so I don't look at it in the night, and so when the alarm goes off I have to get up to turn it off. Ride- I have a new bike-to-work buddy. Ideally I would ride to/from work with her twice a week, but to start things off for success I am aiming for five rides total. These can be split into 'in' on one day and 'home' on a different day as I build up my leg muscles. I am fairly sure after my last ride that my brakes are actually constantly on, so I will check that tomorrow, if they are I may not be as unfit as I feel... I hope it's the brakes haha. Credit card- this was accidentally still linked to one of our food delivery services, and we managed to wrack up $220 in orders and interest before I figured it out. I've chipped away at it, but want to clear the remaining $120 before the end of this challenge. Teeth- now knowing that SLS is what makes toothpaste feel like it is fire, I will buy a brand of toothpaste that doesn't have it in the ingredients, and try again to build this habit. If that means I'm brushing with baby bubblegum toothpaste, so be it. Gym - twice a week. Git swole. 2020 goals are to drop bodyweight to 70kg, then lift: Deadlift 140, Squat 105, Bench 70 (2:1.5:1). This will only happen if I am consistent about going to the gym (holidays to America excepted). Sign/Auslan- this kicks back off next week after the holiday break. I did a little practice over the holidays, but it mainly consisted of watching the live news coverage of the bushfires and trying to follow along with the Auslan interpreter (beardy translator is my favourite, content warning for the faint of heart... our country is on fire) DnD- I haven't been throwing myself whole-heartedly into playing lately, and the reason is a bit silly... Duunack (my half-orc barbarian) made a deal with a devil, which (of course) has led to a bunch of chaos and put the party on the road to hell (literally, we're visiting Dis). I was carrying a lot of guilt about it IRL, in fact I cried about it yesterday while discussing it with Mr. After our chat I feel much better and am focusing on playing the game for the game, not to try and /win/ (oh hello, perfectionist). TLDR, here's my bujo~ 4 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92
It’s zero week, but figured it’s time to start giving things a go. I need to figure out how to go to bed on time on DnD nights... it’s half past midnight and I’ve just put myself to bed, our guests are still here, doing a wrap up chat with Mr. However! I did brush my teeth, and I really focused on putting extra effort into the DnD game. There were flowcharts involved... I did one pre-reading, which I’ll not colour in since there are still more than five to read once the challenge starts proper. 2 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

But we were going around and around in discussion circles about what our next step should be, so I took control, flowcharted out our options, crossed out the ones we had decided were not options (trading two human babies to a hag for the necessary two souls , just because we COULD doesn’t mean we CAN), then utilised the cleric’s phone-a-friend ability to check with his goddess whether the items we needed were in a nearby ruin... We ended up meeting a friendly archmage, the rogue pulled a card from what he thought was a deck of many things (it was a trick deck of illusions haha), we retrieved one soul gem from the ruins which contains a powerful evil soul, and we got the keys to five different planes which means we are now able to use the spell planes shift to proper effect. All in all the best session we’ve had for ages. I should flowchart more often. The story elements, and whether or not people have fun playing is what Mr (our DM) said is important too, to comfort me while I was blubbering about having forced a slow terrible TPK that he was fooorced to let us keep playing (woe! woe!). ... my brain is a fun place sometimes 🙄 8 hours ago, Sloth the Enduring said: Mrs. Sloth uses this https://www.sensodyne.com.au/products/daily-care-toothpaste.html Excellent, thanks for the suggestion! 7 hours ago, Tanktimus the Encourager said: Following. Jarric
You're D&D game sounds awesome, what level are you all at? I've never had the chance to do much plane-hopping, soul-trading crazy stuff. Hang on to that deck of illusions though, that thing's got a lot of possibilities. No matter what choices you make you DM isn't likely to throw you into an encounter that's a guaranteed TPK (though they might give you one where the only option is to flee), because a no-win scenario isn't really fun for anyone. There's a difficult balance between making a world feel real and making encounters level appropriate, but usually DMs come down on the side of letting the players stand a chance! 2 Quote Level 20 Wood Elf Ranger STR: 15 - CON: 21 - CHA: 6 - SAN: 16 - INT: 17 IAgreeWithTank™ "Shit is going down, but I am not." - iatetheyeti Don't say "I don't have enough time", say instead "that's not a priority right now" and see how that makes you feel. We are level 14 we’ve been playing this campaign for 3-4years now. Mr is a good DM, and if I had broke the game he would have just called it, rather than force us to play through to the bitter end. Mentally it is tough. I’ve started watching the news again, though it’s not awesome for my anxiety. Our friend and wedding celebrant lost her property to the fires. It was so hot that the wetlands (swamp) area evaporated. Looking at the type of ash left the fire roared through at over 1000c. I ache for her, and for all the critters lost in the fires. But there is hope, she has been back since the fires and there is still life, baby grass pushing its way up through the ashes, birds calling, little lizards. Very strangely a wallaby and her baby emerged from a giant termite mound where they had found shelter. Its all a bit apocalyptic, and it isn’t likely to get better any time soon (with fire that hot and wind like we are having we need serious rain, not just a sprinkle, to have a chance of getting on top of the fire front. There is no rain like that predicted until Feb at the earliest). But Mr and I live in a big city, so it is unlikely that we will be personally at risk from the fires, just from the smoke which is making the air hazardous. This is part of the reason I only have x5 on my riding goal, if the smoke sweeps in again really bad I will skip riding. 2 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

I went for a little walk on my lunch today trying to stretch my DOMS out from my legs and I walked a different way around campus, found a student lounge where they had a pinboard with “take what you need” sticky notes. I took the Oprah giving out High Distinctions one because that’s what I needed.
