Okay! New year, new challenge. Let's try this again.

 

I think I'm going to make it simple.

 

Start Meal Planning

Over the holidays, I slacked off on paying attention to what I was eating. Now the holiday treats are whittling down, it's time to sort that out.

  • Figure out a planning schedule
  • Create the planning tasks in Habitica
  • Plan a week
  • Plan a second week
  • Plan a third week

 

Walk Every Day

Also falling off, any sort of movement. Therefore, it's time to get out to walk, even if it's only a little one.

  • Schedule a daily walk for the weekdays
  • Schedule a daily walk for the weekends
  • Go for one walk
  • Get a three day streak
  • Get a five day streak
  • Get a seven day streak

 

Create a Decluttering Plan

I had a grand quest to declutter last year, but with no plan. So, it's time to strategize. This one's a little more vague than the others.

  • Figure out what areas need to be tackled
  • Break down each area into smaller tasks
  • Work through those tasks

 

Okay, I think I'm going to work with that. Here's to a new start!

I've got a walk scheduled for this afternoon. Today will be my first day of seeing whether this new schedule plan works or not *crosses fingers*

 

Though, I forgot to put "see what food is in the fridge & freezer" on the schedule, which I really need to do today so I can start the meal plan. Maybe I can do that in my after-dinner unscheduled time.

It was good! And short 😋 It's a little chilly right now and getting colder over the weekend, but even if it's just a quick walk I want to get outside at least once a day. So far, so good.

 

I haven't figured out what I have in my fridge and freezer yet, so I haven't done my first meal plan, but I actually took something out of the freezer for dinner today! That's a step up from take-out.

Making your own "frozen" meals is so convenient! Cook once, eat twice (or thrice) :).

Nice! If you're too cold, just walk faster :tongue:.

Careful ;) Whenever I complain about being cold Waanie instructs me to do stairs lol! ❤️ It snowed for me here too overnight. It has stopped for the most part but our parking lot at work looks like a full sheet of ice. I hate ice :( I am too clumsy for ice lol. This weekend is supposed to be a snow/rain/freezing rain storm. Super fun. :P

What! There's nothing wrong with a little exercise to warm up again. I do it myself often, and it's much better for your bank account than turning up the thermostat. My other solution involves fleece blankets and cats, and you might not have those available at work ;).

Heh! I'll keep that in mind :) 

 

The snow wound up stopping before I went out, so it was cold, but not too terrible. It's supposed to drop even farther over the weekend, though, so walks for the next few days might or might not happen. Today it will happen, because we forgot to buy coffee so I need to get some from the corner store or have no coffee tomorrow morning. That is not an option.

 

I think I can cross something off here, so, list update!

So far, so good. I managed a short walk yesterday and it isn't nearly as cold as it was supposed to be today. Tomorrow's when the big drop is supposed to happen, though, so we'll find out! I should be able to get a walk in today, though, even if it's just another short one.

I've broken down the tasks for cluttering my computer desk. Really, it's small enough I should be able to get it done this weekend, but my procrastination is fully engaged 😋 If nothing else, my delay tactics appear to be to do other chores and to-dos, so at least it's not time wasted.

It's always so annoying when the weather is preventing us from going outside, so I'm glad today it's still fine :).

You mean the gazillion pens, pencils, post-its and other "random, but useful" stuff? I have like 3 drawers that have random office supplies, it would be good for me to at least merge those drawers xD.

Walked yesterday, but the streak is now broken, because it's too freaking cold today 😝 It's going to get even colder this week, so it's time to plan a "walk in the house" alternative.

Anyway, most of this week will be indoors. I decided not to got to the Farmer's Market today, due to the amount of walking involved. I'm still going to drive to the grocery store to get the produce I need for my meal plan, though. Should be an okay drive there and back, but I want it out of the way so it's done before the further temperature drop we're looking at.

 

This should be as cold as it gets this year, at least *knocks on wood* Really, I've done pretty well being able to get out for even short walks this week 🥶

To be honest, I decided to take baby steps and pull an existing meal plan from Diet Doctor and just take out the meals I didn't want 😝 So there are a number of things on it that I haven't tried yet. I'm looking forward to trying the Seafood Chowder the most, though.

 

Oh. Huh. I just noticed an item on there I did not buy what I needed to make. Not sure how I skipped it on the shopping list, but I'll figure something out when I get there.

 

Anyway, I didn't walk today, but I did cook!

Food! It's the Keto Tex-Mex Casserole, though I discovered I did not have Tex-Mex spice like I thought and wouldn't be using enough to bother making my own, so I just put in Cajun instead. I'm also not sure I made enough, but with the leafy greens, it served as a great dinner.

It was actually pretty easy to make, too. I expect in future I'll skip the onions in the sour creme and save myself some more time, though at least I could chop those up while the casserole was cooking.

 

Decent start to the week all things considered.

Wow, that entire dish looks amazing, not only the casserole. I never thought of putting raw bell pepper and raw spinach together as a salad, does it combine well? The casserole itself looks very simple, and I might make it some time as well. I always improvise my spices anyway, and wouldn't know the difference between tex mex and cajun spice mixes :lol:.

We have a saying in Dutch: better well stolen than badly invented/thought up.  Now you have a base to work with, and whenever you see a great meal you can add it to the plan, or if you don't like something you can kick it out. The chowder looks very attractive, and if I were into seafood I'd totally try it (or something similar) :).

Did you get your desk decluttered? 😮

 

That casserole looks delicious! And so does the seafood chowder. I am not the best at making soups lol maybe I should practice more. 

 

Sorry you broke your streak. I ended up going to Walmart and the mall to get my walk on when it was raining/freezing rain.

I like it! It's also pretty easy to throw together, which also helps 😁

I haven't made many soups, so we'll see how this goes! 🤞

That's fantastic! So far, I have not done anything like that. But it's looking like the cold snap will be over next week, so hopefully I can get back to regular walks soon.

 

Cooked gain today, and it wasn't terrible. Maybe I'll get used to this if I do it enough.

Today was Keto goat cheese and mushroom frittata, which was okay. I think I'd make it again if it came up in a plan, but likely won't add it to any of my own.

You are lucky your cold snap is ending. We had gross rain and random freezing and everything is a mud pit. Now come Thursday night we are getting our cold snap 😱

 

I wound up having some great food this week 😃

 

Oh no! A cold snap after rain is never good. I hope it's a short one 🤞

 

Today was freaking cold, but I believe this was supposed to be our low point. Next week I should be able to get out for walks again.

I liked it, so I'm going to keep it in mind for the future. (I didn't feel like spinach, so just bell pepper on the side.) It's similar to another one I used to make, but I think I like this one better. The tomatoes make more of a difference than I expected.

 

Right, so earlier I noticed there was an item on my meal plan that I did not buy the stuff to make. Today, since I had enough to make extra, I doubled what I'd planned to make so I could eat it in place of the missing one. Then, when it was too late to turn back, I remembered the reason I didn't buy that stuff is because it was planned for Friday and we do take-out that night, so I won't be cooking.

 

/facepalm

 

Anyway, now I have some food in the freezer if I need a quick meal 😝

Need to get in the decluttering tasks, though I have started breaking them down.

 

Cooked again tonight, and resisted the temptation of a McDonald's cheesburger to do it instead.

I made Keto butter burgers, though with a few alterations. I used a BBQ mix I love instead of just salt&pepper, and then I added some mushrooms on top, since I still had some from the dish earlier in the week. I cooked one side of the patties a little too long, but they still worked.

I need to get a hang of using lettuce as a bun. For the most part it works, but since the patty was hot when I put it on, the bottom started to wilt before I started eating. Still good, though.

 

That reminds me, I need to get my shopping list ready for next week. This time I have saved the copy of the meal plan without the Friday dinner, so I should avoid that confusion 😝
