Intermittent Fasting And Competitions

So, I've been doing intermittent fasting for about 3-ish years now. I was wondering if you should break your eating habit to eat before a competition so as to have more energy to compete.

 

Edit: Here's some more information that might be useful. I am a runner. I don't have a trainer. I try to be competitive in my races(I look to get medals).

Are you working with a trainer whom you can chat with about this? So much depends on what your periodization and lead up to the competition has been, as well as what the events are, what your goals are, etc.

I IF and very much ignore it completely for competitions. You function better with circulating sugar in your system. IF is about optimizing body composition and helping keep calories and insulin resistance down, but performance definitely takes a hit if you're working out fasted.
