The root of it is that I finally have an actual plan for fitness and food that I like, and I feel I have all the necessary baseline stability and strength to begin my path to a pull up and handstand. Well, this is my 10th challenge anniversary, so I'm going to deep dive to May 2019 for a review of where I started. 🤣 Or, if I were really official I'd look to my sign up date, but I feel I really started being organized and having *gasp* real goals when I started challenges. Actually, thinking things over, I've made great progress. Most of it is mental; especially accepting who I am, what I can't or won't do as well as what I can, and learning to work with me. I now have goals physically and they have to do with ability, not appearance. I have goals at all! Beyond "get stronger and lose weight." This is the first time my fitness has involved working toward something specific, and I got here by putting down the weights. i can't define how, but NF somehow led me to calisthenics, which led me online sources that work for me. It feels so weird to have a plan. Loving how this has worked out for me so far and can't wait to see where it takes me. So glad I found this wonderful place full of awesome nerds to help along the way. Edit: apparently I can't read my own handwriting. Chesire Posted February 15, 2020 Author Report Share Posted February 15, 2020 Now for the plan to level up from level 1 fitness, since that is what I'm basing my leveling on. I'm defining fitness level progression by my ability to move through the training plan I've settled on. Given that, I need to work on core strength and back/pull strength. So that is where I will be pushing for this challenge, while maintaining the other things that are going well. Nutrition level will involve working in a little more protein is a way that doesn't involve excess meat consumption. Thanks to awesome nerds I have realistic plan that I understand. Second focus is iron consumption for energy and focus. I'm almost satisfied with my habits on this one. Life level is going to be tough. i haven't had a garden that I was satisfied with in ages, so back to the drawing board. I really need to get a properly fitted, or really close to it mock-up of a dress done by the end of the challenge, so I don't stress making the proper one before wedding in May. Fitness- do the plan as prescribed 3x week -Sat/Mon/Thus mobility, stretch, foam rolling 3x week- Sun/Tues/Wed Fri recovery day Nutrition- protein and iron intake monitored 2 L water daily don't worry excessively about calories, but keep an eye on it for further understanding of nutrition and energy. It seems by focusing on previous points my hunger and calorie levels balance pretty well. But keep an eye anyway continue the search for delicious mocktails. Recent discovery is shrubs, work with that. Life- finished sweater (for bonus points) 1/2 way blanket mockup dress that fits ***garden plan*** specifically; what to plant? which style and planner? build raised beds, or get the things for it. start what needs to be started indoors Extra fun! vacation week during which I take ski lessons. Obviously I'm making my on dress for the wedding, cuz stress is fun, right. But! I realized I'm down enough inches to be down a dress size, whilst and at the same time as putting many, many hours into Borderlands this month. Chesire Posted March 10, 2020 Author Report Share Posted March 10, 2020 Last week's fitness did not go as planned. I couldn't face doing 3 strength days. Everything was still tired and tight on the first day so -after checking in honestly on myself- I decided to respect it and reorganized the week. Found some mobility plans, did them, stretching, and foam rolling. And got a massage. I think it was a good shift because I'm able again. Had to make a few adjustments to my plan. Firstly, I made a rookie planning mistake. The blanket is a bridal shower gift. Ya, I was planning my schedule based on the wedding not the shower. Duh, they happen earlier and in this case it's the end of this month. Revised goal is mostly finished by the end of this challenge. Dress is basically moved to next challenge. Vacation next week means time to build garden beds as long as we still don't have snow. Which of course brings me to ... Ski get away. Um... hopefully the mountain has snow. It's been ridiculously warm for this area. Chesire Posted March 14, 2020 Author Report Share Posted March 14, 2020 Ok. So. This pandemic thing. My vacation could not have come at a better time for anxiety maintenance. Massage and social distancing are a tough balance. It's not even so much my own health that concerns me, though believe me I do not want to battle this thing, it's being the point of spread for others that terrifies me. I confess that my anxiety was running super high yesterday and I wanted to douse my whole house in bleach. But I made rules for myself and worked through it. Biggest areas of concern were kitchen, bathroom, doorknobs, phones, and such. I allowed myself to address these concerns only if I also made it a proper spring cleaning which I wanted to do during this time off anyway. Now I have a clean kitchen, bathroom, etc and anxiety is on the ebb. Win-win! Even under the stove drawer is clean! And found the ring MrC was missing. Chesire Posted March 19, 2020 Author Report Share Posted March 19, 2020 A new normal is settling in. Can't work for a few weeks, possibly months. We'll see. Now is the time to return to good habits. Check in time: Fitness went haywire for vacation and life reasons. That is returning today. I have more time and less concern about being overtired at work so I can push things a bit for a while. Woot! and I had defintley felt the benefit of the mobility plan I found, so that def continues. Nutrition had gone into vacation mode as planned and intended, but that changes today too. I need good food and less alcohol to maintain an even keel. Life stuff will get all kinds of attention now. Garden is progressing. The bridal shower probably won't happen now, but regardless, I will be done in time even if it's just 3 of us. And I have to keep up with nutrition so that the fitting I've done for the MOH dress still works! I may implement this, especially since I am now have nothing but time. it will be interesting in later day, or possibly years, to see what I started and what I accomplished during this time.
