Starpuck Rerolls a Hard Six (Nostalgia Challenge!)

Greetings NF Peeps!   I am Starpuck!

84309346_10220992744758692_7009523615053

I'm a rebel girl in her middle years (43) who pays no mind to age numbers and seeks to continue being healthy and active for a long time!   Being overweight (among other health things) runs in my family, and I have been on a journey to 'do better' for a loooong time now.   From Weight Watchers back in the day, to personal trainers at big gyms, to this awesome place I've called home for SEVEN years now.   I've had the most success here; where unconditional support and encouragement flourish, and the practices of consistency help line things up for great results.    But as in all things, it's a journey, and one never really stops the car from moving, they just learn better ways of steering as new sights, scenes and obstacles show up.   I'm a tried and true ranger- I lift, I video game dance lol, I play ice hockey, hike, bike, kayak, love me some pull ups, the works.   And my non fitness interests are just as many and varied.   Rangerbrain is what we call it around here, and it's a real thing!

So, on to the details.   All this hype!  Anniversaries!   The man- the Legend himself- running the challenge with us.   It got me feeling nostalgic.   One of my BEST decisions on here, was keeping all my past challenges in my signature.   I've often gone back and seen which ones had the most progress and where my brain, emotions and general life status were at during the challenge.   I also see what I did that worked.   And what didn't.  (Spoiler:  Consistency and persistence hold 100% of the 'successful challenge' records.)

To make things even MORE uncanny.   Let's look back...

Starpuck's Basic Training - First Challenge!

By Starpuck, March 1, 2013 in Rangers

Yup!    This challenge lands smack in the middle of my personal anniversary too.     But, since I am a super big D&D nerd, and I am totally owning the Year of the Double Crit (2020) [Whether you are rolling with advantage, OR disadvantage, two Nat 20s means you succeed!] ... I decided I'd borrow the name from my second challenge, which was also BSG themed in "Sometimes you gotta roll a Hard Six."   And with that, I might as well go ahead and snag the very goals I was aiming for those years ago, and just get back to basics!

[Below pulled directly from that challenge 7 years ago]

Jammer: "I'm not really cut out for this, sir."
Apollo: "Me neither. Sometimes you gotta roll the hard six."
Jammer: "What does that mean, sir?"
Apollo: "I don't know. It's something my dad says. Just don't shoot until I tell you to."

BSG - Season 2, Episode 2

Pretty fitting title and saying for my 2nd challenge. My first challenge I approached sort of halfassed, so now I gotta roll the Hard 6.

^Still accurate today lol!  Last challenge half-assed.

THEN:                                  Now:

Weight: 153.1                    150.2

Bodyfat: 32.7%

Waist: 36

Hip: 42
Thigh: 25

Bicep: 13

Fitness Goals

  1. Strength Train:  3X / WEEK
  2. Move / Sweat / Stuff:  3X / WEEK
  3. Eating Healthy   - Track on MFP; 7X / WEEK   *This has always worked best.   [Allowance of 1 untracked/week for "Life Happens"]

Life Goal

  • Budget Related:     Keep track of all expenses in "Spending Tracker"; stay within Budget.
  •  Do 1 Art Lesson a Week!!   Keep up with practice 2-3x beyond that.
  • Dabble with youtube videos/gaming and/or streaming games.  Maybe.

The same goals remain!   But I am so much better at /working/ with them now.    Other than that, I do have some bigger things on the calendar for this year, and I've been really working to push myself out of my comfort zone this year.   It needs to expand!!    Last challenge, I wrote up 5 Goals for 5 weeks.  These were one and done tasks that were meant to push me past my comfort zone and I did all but one of them!    I'll continue to do that this challenge as well, but I need to think some ideas up.

5 WEEKS / 5 GOALS

  1. Make plans to hit Pollyanna Brewing with table-mate from Church Group
  2. Find and schedule some therapy.
  3. Try a new activity.
  4.  tbd
  5.  tbd

And now... in the theme of returning to my STARPUCK ROOTS!

And a shout out to those who helped me at the beginning ...

Happy NF-versary, girlfriend! It’s been a joy to watch you smash it over the years. You’ve always been a big inspiration to me. I know I’m not active on the forum these days, but I still peek in on you from time to time. :)

Here’s to smashing it for seven more years!

It's mid-week of Week Zero.     I am still trying to wrangle all my thoughts and goals into an organized plan.    Also still need to come up with the 5 for 5.   Which, going forward, in the theme of being D&D related, I will call them "One Shots!"   Gotta come up with all 5 One Shots.   I'm thinking about adding "Make an appt. with a therapist and get to sorting out some growing hang ups."    I think, at this point, I can stop saying "I might have some anxiety issues" and pretty much say, "Sometimes my anxiety cripples me."   I need to get some help with that.   Sheez.   What a doozy, eh?

Admittedly, I've been pretty preoccupied with things, so there's not a lot of focus on organizing stuff just now.   I haven't had a chance for much art, but have been kind of in the mood?   I did box yesterday and am lifting today.      Sharks are in the water so that is for sure plenty to blame for general tiredness and blehness too.   But hey!  That means they should be gone for Week 1 proper.

I need to finish organizing my BuJo and really get into the habit of having it out at work (for reminders) and once I am home (to finish up lists and prep the next day).   I have a hectic schedule and keeping things planned ahead is going to really help with the success rate.

Also need to get around to following all you lovelies!

Well hot diggety dog!   My first necromancy spell worked!

source.gif

Keep it super simple and chill girl!    Just poke in and say hey, and talk about your day if that's all you can squeeze in just now.

Ahahahah, hello!

Just a post church group check in.

Last night was super challenging at our growth class.  It was good, but it was challenging, and as I laid in bed trying to sleep, something came to me.    I know I struggle with fear - fear of everything really - but last night it dawned on me that I perhaps put the brakes on *all* relationships because my formative years were filled with watching people "go".    I also super hate any sort of sad movie, or anime, that involves people losing out on being with someone they love or care about.     Which kind of ties right into that hot mess.       Something to work on for sure.

I've been dealing with a new situation this week, and it has put me in flight mode the entire week.   I've forced myself to stay in that place and not make any decisions.   Learn to get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable.   But... I can't say I'm seeing anything change because of it.   Well, other than being very tired all the time and getting a tension headache that has persisted so long I got a real crick in my neck now hah.      I've tackled some things that are/were very hard for me...  and I have definitely swung into that analysis paralysis territory.    Time to reach out and make some calls to get that therapy ball rolling.     ... also maybe a chiropractor visit hah.

I boxed on Tuesday, lifted yesterday.    Today should be a box day, but we had enough snow that getting into work took 20 minutes extra and I missed out on buying my dinner ingredients for after work.   I also want to pick up some Excedrin Tension relief lol.   I'll lift tomorrow, and make sure I get my sweat on for Sat and then maybe some yoga and light cardio for Sunday.   Next week is proper Week 1 so not too stressed about that.   Plus, my neck is REALLY cricky today.

I've been floating around and following you kids.   Still gotta make a few rounds.    But it is seriously SO GOOD TO SEE ALL THESE FACES I HAVE LOVED SEEING IN THE PAST!

Holy crap!  Honestly I don't really take issue with Halle Berry's character in Parabellum, she just felt a little...flat.  Just dull.  Can you imagine if that had been Katee Sackhoff's character from Riddick?!  Ermagerd!

Aside; I googled Katee Sackhoff .gifs for this reply and saw a Jason Momoa .gif... which lead to one of my old challenges, because of course it did!!  🤣🤣
