starsapart Posted March 24, 2020 Report Share Posted March 24, 2020 On the one hand, yeah, you want to hide inside a lot when you have a newborn, but on the other hand, this is a really difficult and uncertain time to have one and there are lots of things (like seeing grandparents!) that probably can't happen and that makes me so sad for you. It is not easy, but it won't last forever and you'll have a lot of time to enjoy the visits from friends and family. And I hear you about the doctors visits and such, since I'm in a similar situation, but I'm sure the kid is strong and healthy and you too, and you'll have no problems at all. About the other gyms providing online classes and all that... Well, I can tell you people are doing this here and it is not as idyllic as it sounds. My gym, for example (I'm not attending anymore but I'm on the group chat so I know what's happening), is a solid one (expensive place, very specialised (movnat, animal flow...) and can't definitely keep the schedule, and has gone from 5-6 classes a day to only one, that is offered at one only time in the day, and the connection problems are so heavy that most people miss it or can follow only a part of it. But they're still charging full price... So my thought is you're being honest with your clients, assuming money loss instead of trying to keep the money flowing by offering a much less valuable program. I know this crisis is going to be hard on family business like yours, but I'm sure too that you'll get through. And as you say, you have Jaap at home which makes it easier with the girls, and I'm sure he is enjoying having so much time with you all during these days with the newborn, even if it's at the expense of economy. 1 Quote The battle must be fought anew every day Link to comment

To me they're trying to provide something of value, in whatever limited capacity they're able to. It's not easy on anyone. And everyone's free to cancel their membership, which I'm sure many people will. But if people want to keep their gyms safe, and are able to pay, it's a good idea to pay even for subpar content. The classes I've been taking online are much worse than IRL, you don't get people, or equipment, or the social aspect. But it still provides me with a dose of sanity, regularity and connection that I wouldn't get otherwise and I'm thankful for that. My feeling is that as long as you're honest, you can ask for the money, and hopefully the money will come. 2 Quote Link to comment
