Unquiet Bones goes for a Doggo Walk

Whoops, forgot the challenges started on Sunday! 🤦‍♀️

Last challenge went quite well (even though I failed my 'post in the forums' portion). So I'm going to one-up some of the things I accomplished for this time around! 😁

Work has blessed off with me working a half-day, then going out for a long doggo walk and then working the other half-day remote for some days. It will 100% depend on the weather and what we have going on at work... but chances are good it should be at least a once-a-week thing!

Last Challenge -> This Challenge

  • Slowly swap from primarily drinking Diet Coke to black tea and Mio -> swap from black tea and Mio to green tea
  • Roughly four one-story stair trips per day -> roughly six one-story stair trips per day (my knees are doing MUCH better!)
  • Gummi vitamins almost daily -> gummi vitamins daily (I know it's not the most effective way to get them, but it can't hurt)
  • Cooking dinner most of the time -> same
  • Taking lunch most of the time -> bringing lunch ALL of the time
  • Mostly no caffeine after lunch -> even more no caffeine after lunch
  • doggo walks randomly -> doggo walks at lunch when the weather is nice (so, once a week or so)

New For This Challenge

  • Try and be more active on the forums
  • Try and find healthier foods to cook/bring for lunch & breakfast
  • Try and get in to see a doctor for a general health check-up (it's been well over a decade)
  • Try and work on getting to sleep at a more regular time

So, nothing giant and earth-shattering, because that sort of change doesn't work so well... but little teaspoons dug out of the mountain. Someday it'll be an easy walk! 😂

silently creeping in as if she'd always been here ...

Those are good solid goals - this may be a very stupid question, but what exactly is a doggo walk? Did you get yourself a fourlegged friend??

It is a walk with a doggo! 🤣 (Actually, he pretends he's a pupper, but he's much to old and heavy to pretend. 😅)

My other dog, Shiva is too old to go for walks anymore, so it will be just me and Bucket when we go walking tomorrow (unless the forecast suddenly changes.) ((Yay, Virginia weather?))

This is probably the smarter way to go about it :)

Seconding, this is the way to make things stick (or fall off, depending on goals.

Yay for doggo pictures! What a cutie.

So... this has not been the best of weeks, but not a complete loss, so yay!

I got out for a doggo walk on Tuesday when the weather was nice and we went a mile in 30min, with a nice slow pace and lots of time for sniffing things. Sadly, this still wore both of us out, but it was a good start! It took about two hours, from leaving work to getting back into the house, so it should work well as a long lunch. There are two miles of trail there, so as we get faster we can go a bit further. I'm still looking into ideas for what to do when Virginia gets omgHOT again... 🤔

Sadly, the rest of the week did not go as well. I ate something bad at the company potluck on Wednesday and am just now recovering enough to be active again. Thankfully none of the lost days were good dog-walking days, so I figure it wasn't a complete loss.

My going-up-and-down stairs came to a complete halt, however. Which is frustrating because last week I threw my back out and it's meant pretty much no consistent stairs for two weeks now. Am hoping once my woozy-head goes away I can back to thing properly tomorrow. 🤞

Other wins were that I got a LOT more sleep in on Thursday and Friday (although it was chaoticly sporadic) and the green tea I got was quite tasty, so on Monday and Tuesday I was able to swap my second cup of black tea (biiiiiig cup, like 32oz, but only two teabags) for green and a lot less sugar.

Yay pupper walks! And hey, if it wore you out, then that means it's progress. :)

:( Sorry you had to deal with both of those setbacks. Hope you're feeling better again, or at least headed in that direction.

This... has been a bad challenge for me. My general anxiety levels are through the roof and I've backslid on a lot of my previous accomplishments this year.

But all is not lost (it never is!) and I am slowly starting to get my feet under me again.

I have been working from home since last Tuesday and that has had a direct impact on my diet in a good-ish way. I'm eating a little more junk food than I'd like (unfrosted blueberry pop tarts and Haribo Starmix are GOLD), but I've recovered from my 'stress-drink ALL the Diet Coke!' and am back to a glass a day.

We stocked up a little bit on food before the insanity hit, but I really only planned on the madness rush in Virginia lasting two weeks. Now... I'm not so sure.

But I've done some yardwork over the weekend and am in the process of dusting off and reconnecting the treadmill computer. Now that everything is only a few minutes away, I have no excuse for not taking build-time (3-5 min) and doing something useful with it!

So, right, it's very very very late in the challenge, but I'm going to respawn anyway. *puts on stubborn hat* Onwards!
