Well gang here we are ...

Trying to avoid a pandemic while trying to stay healthy

 

We have to remember the rules of ZombieLand! 
 

Quest 1

That's right CARDIO! Can't out run the zombos if you're not able to run in the first place

 

 

We're looking at 3 runs of 3+ miles per week - probably more, but we're just starting out and the zombos haven't broken out ... so yeah... remember

Quest 2

For me this is going be to be doing 3 days of body weight work to replace my OTF visits as that isn't happening for a bit.

I need to come up with a system of stuff - current thinking is 5 pushups and 5 squats whenever I go to the bathroom but seems a bit random. 

 

Quest 3

This is pre/post work out stretching - something I'm HORRIBLE at doing! 

 

So I'm going to try to do 5 minutes of stretching before and after any cardio!

Take some time to sit back enjoy a book, a nice meal, etc ... you know self-care.

Yes, but I do sometimes worry about overbalancing toward slow twitch. No one ever needs to do a sustained two-hour jog away from the zombies. The 3-milers Strickland proposes are better for zombie survival prep, but still I feel like these days are calling more for hard intervals.

I would suggest giving Zombies Run a try as they do a zombie chases (aka intervals)

Definitely will have to do some intervals in that - though when the wife and I have to run single file through an area the lead runner will usually go faster than the lag runner ... so good times

The question of slow vs fast for zombie evasion depends on what turned them into zombies in the first place. If it's a disease from about 2001 onward, you need speed as they are fast zombies. If it's disease in a movie from the last century, they are slow zombies. And if it's some necromancer reanimating dead bodies, you need someone who can turn undead *Obliquely gestures to own ordination certificate*.

 

Also, when you said the first rule, my mind went to "Do not act incautiously when confronting little bald wrinkly smiling men!"

Week Zero Day One

Quest 1  
The wife and I did 4 miles in the morning, which as pretty nice I won't lie. The City is very quiet with Shelter in Place going on

 

Quest 2 This will start tomorrow (well today...) 

Quest 3 We did stretch before and after our run - so win!

Quest 4  Apparently I'm running D&D for other NF folks ... eep!

Week Zero Day Two & Three

Quest 1  
Double rest day - wife didn't sleep well on Wednesday so wasn't up for a run. We did get in a couple of nice longer walks.

 

Quest 2 Did NOT start this ... ugh ...

Quest 3 see Quest 1

Quest 4  Ran my Adventurers League game via Roll20 last night - went well and folks seem to enjoy it!

I have been told that for my health, I need to do more cardio. I will remain close -to this challenge in the hopes some the cardio in might corrupt inspire me.

4 Mile run down to the Embarcadero which was rewarded with a lovely view of the Bay Bridge with the lights on.

 

QUEST 2

Pre and post run stretching were well done 

 

QUEST 3

Happening on 03/31

 

QUEST 4

Virtual Wine and Board games ! Played Pandemic with friend and managed to win on the last possible turn!

Guess I should update here more often ... 

 

QUEST 1

Ran 5 miles on Saturday and 3 today

 

QUEST 2

So far so good on the pre/post run stretching! 

 

QUEST 3

Push ups and squats a plenty!

 

QUEST 4

Ran two different group in D&D via the internet - one was for NF folks which was a mixed bag of technical difficulties and actual play.

This weekend I played Elder Sign with the wife and we won!
