Better late than never

Hello! I discovered this site at the end of last week, and I love the idea and the attitude. I've been trying to use another site to motivate me, but it has too many pity parties. This looks more fun. Additionally, I'm a total RP gamer, virtual LARPer, and educational game researcher. This seems like a great place to be. I'm already laughing at the fact that people know who RAH was and recognize his quotes.

I used to be very fit - running and karate. (But since I have not been keeping up with either for the last year, I'm putting myself into the Adventurers group.) And when I am active, I don't overeat. While in grad school for 9 years, I've gotten into bad habits, especially emotional eating. I should be done with my doctorate this month, and so my life feels like it is my control again. Hence ....

I'll do aerobics daily - either C25K or biking or running.

I started the Paleo Diet and rather like it - just need to get switch the routine (and not eat the refined carbs my husband brings home).

I've dumped what was left of the wine in the cupboard and won't buy any more until the challenge is over.

And I'll defend my dissertation, committee willing, by mid-June.

I weigh 171 pounds as of today and want to lose 6 pounds by the end of the challenge.

Detailed Goals

Complete Week 5 of C25K (5 STA)

Paleo Diet 80% of the time (3 CON)

Cut out alcohol completely (2 CON)

Defend dissertation successfully (3 CHA 2 WIS) - DONE May 25th

Weekly Challenges:

Week 4 - cook meals all week (vs. going out or hitting the deli) (+1 CHA) DONE

LARP = "Live action role play" and I do the spontaneous free form role play in a virtual world. So, I'm a virtual LARPer in Second Life.

I may need to pull out my Star Wars dice roleplay rules and come up with a real life progression from padawan to master. Hum ....

Yesterday, I found a cool app that helped me with my run: Zombies, Run! It's immersive RP for runners. What it really does is help you speed up your runs (or, in my case, walks merging into jogging) and focus on running and less on "how much further do I need to go" ....

Awesome sauce.

W00t!!! I have scheduled my dissertation defense for May 25th. And I'm doing well on my C25K goal. Not doing as well as hoped on the Paleo Diet adjustment, but I continue to work at cutting out refined carbs of all types and eat fruits and veggies plus meats.

Making progress!!

W00t!!!! I successfully defended my dissertation - cross ONE goal off the list as completed.

Now, it is time to get back on track with the rest!!

Hey, it feels GOOD to be back! I got back on the bike, planned meals, and cooked for the first time in 9 days.
