Big Show starts moving forward again

It's been six weeks of lockdown and now it's time to get thing moving forward again.

 

My health & fitness progress has been well & truly... stationary.  I've been half-heartedly doing some exercise, not really eating & drinking properly, and basically staying exactly in the same place.

 

In a couple of hours we find out how the government is going to begin easing its lockdown restrictions.  I personally don't want us to, but that's the way the world's going so I guess I have to move with it.  That means making my jobhunt a bit more rigorous, and trying to get myself back in some semblance of shape so my work clothes fit properly.

 

So my plan for the next few weeks:

 

1) Don't eat & drink like an arsehole

 

2) Run twice a week (injuries permitting), bodyweight workout twice a week

 

3) Walk daily

 

LQ) Check for new job listings daily and continue learning Python in the meantime

 

All pretty simple really.  It's amazing I'm not in shape already.

Update for the first couple of days!

 

1) Don't eat & drink like an arsehole

Yesterday I ate rather sensibly indeed; spent a while in the afternoon trying to pretend I wasn't hungry when in fact I was and so had a small snack.  For lunch I made a nice veggie frittata for us both and had half of it left for today's lunch as well.

 

Last night's dinner was a Beef Stroganoff that wasn't quite filling enough, but with a bit of nice bread with it I reckon that'll work perfectly.  Gonna put it on next week's menu as well.

 

2) Run twice a week (injuries permitting), bodyweight workout twice a week

Yesterday I set out for a little walk/run; hard work, but I did a couple of miles in very windy conditions so I'm pleased with start.

 

This morning I did the Start Bodyweight workout again, and that is similarly difficult.  Means it'll be having an effect then!

 

3) Walk daily

We went out for a short walk last night and also at lunchtime today - from Wednesday we're allowed out for exercise as many times a day as we want, so there's absolutely no excuse not to fit something in.

 

LQ) Check for new job listings daily and continue learning Python in the meantime

Checked both days and nothing new has cropped up yet, so I've been plodding on with my python lessons.  Lots of stats on the syllabus at the moment, which is fun.

Wednesday update:

 

1) Don't eat & drink like an arsehole

Wednesday is shopping day, so no exercise first thing today - had a microwave all-day breakfast wrap first to avoid going to the supermarket hungry, then headed off to Asda to dot he shopping for myself and my parents.  Maybe people seem to be thinking that wearing a mask & gloves makes them immune, but there seemed to be more people walking the wrong way up the one-way aisles compared to the last few weeks.  It annoyed me greatly.

 

But the main thing is we have all the food we need to last until next Wednesday (and could last longer if necessary), and my parents also don't need to go to the shop either.  We've got some nice meals planned out, and the weather's looking food for the weekend too so we'll be sat in the garden having a barbecue on Sunday.

 

2) Run twice a week (injuries permitting), bodyweight workout twice a week

Day off today - all set for another little run tomorrow morning though.

 

3) Walk daily

After lunch we went for a little 1.7 mile wander, so that's a box ticked.

 

LQ) Check for new job listings daily and continue learning Python in the meantime

No suitable jobs still today, will check again tomorrow.
