I think that is why it is helping me to choose a few things to do each day, and week to win.Otherwise,I end up constantly feeling guilty for not having done enough, and don't give myself time to do relax. I'm realizing that one of the reasons I snack is to give myself an excuse to relax. So now, I'm just relaxing and reading a bit when I feel like a snack, and finding that what I needed was to just chill for a bit. 5 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "If more of us valued food and cheer and song, above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world" J.R.R.Tolkien Link to comment

Elastigirl
The weekend wrap up Friday: hubby had off. He used our friend's spray painting machine to paint our shed. I worked out. The plan was then for me to paint the doors. I did not. DIdn't do much of anything except sit . Oh, wait we did go to the store. We went to Fred Meyer, which is a one shop has everything type store. I wanted party decorations for 4th of July. They were super crowded and it was a bit stressful. Every time I tried to step out of someone's else's way, I stepped into another person. Super hard to social distance. And we couldn't find party decorations. Then we went to Target and looked, nothing there. Finally, I realized that the store that sells party supplies was now opened. Success! I found paper plates, napkins, a banner, and some mini flags. Note to self: Skip the mega stores, even if it takes more trips go to the smaller specialty stores. They need the business anyway. Also insert rant here: Our little stores are just now opening, why can 'these mega stores be opened and super crowded, while the smaller businesses had to remain closed? We also bought a small pack of fireworks at the firework stand Saturday 4th of July; party prep. Made green salad, potato salad, burger fixings. We bbq'd hamburgers and hotdogs. We had the party in our backyard. Upstairs on our deck is a table, but we wanted more hanging out space, so we were in the backyard. I bought a couple of end tables as a spot for drinks. We had one family, my son, and then my son's friend and his brand new wife. They couple actually were just getting back from their honeymoon( to a local island not the planned Hawaiian trip) so we got to hear about their trip. Had fun visiting. Then we did our small amount of fireworks. But there were fireworks everywhere. The street behind us had huge ones, like you would see in a firework show. So we stayed up a long time visiting and watching the fireworks, and listening to the booms all around. Lots of food was eaten and enjoyed. Sunday was parking lot church. Sunny weather, so more people sat outside. We sang our worship songs loudly, and it was a wonderful time. Then we went home and relaxed for a bit. Then we went back to the parking lot where we have church. It is a winery/bistro. We wanted to eat there as a thank you for them letting us use their parking lots. Good lunch, cobb salad. And excellent wine.Every single wine I've had from this place has been amazing. Having grown up not drinking, I never know what wine to buy. I've decided my plan is just to buy from this place, because you can't go wrong. If you are local, the place is MaryHill Winery. Not sure if they sell their wine out of state. We also looked for and found a geocache that was in the parking lot. There is a story to go with, but I need to sign off soon, so I will tell it tomorrow. Then we went for a walk along the interurban trail Week 2 wrap up My challenge goals: Keep moving forward: I finished the book Lean and Strong, and want to apply some of the guidelines and skills from the books. In order to do that I will 1) Do the weekly assignment on defining my nutrition and fitness values:Yes done! 2) Make a tracker for certain skills and keep track- I'm thinking eating slow and paying attention to snacks I eat (not necessarily not eating snacks, just delaying before I eat)Did not trackl, I think I did alright with it, just didn't track. I'm going to make some adjustments this week and see if that helps Working hard 1) write out a weekly to do list and report on my progress Having a family over in our backyard for 4th of July, so I need to figure out logistics for that Finish trim scrapbook- 15 minutes 4 days this week- Nope nada values week 2 Try new things 1) Make a video of my staff skills I'm learning : played with some skills. This week I'm going to write out a flow and do that 2) keep up the L-sit practice yes 7 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "If more of us valued food and cheer and song, above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world" J.R.R.Tolkien Link to comment
Elastigirl
This week I'm going to simplify my tracking, cause I'm just not doing it.I'm not tracking eating slow, I will just continue being mindful. For snacking, my plan is to have one snack a day, and delay all other snacks 20 minutes. I'm setting my timer to go off at 9:30 pm. I will write down if I delayed snacks, or just didn't have a snack, I will also write out what my feeling was as I had a snack. If I do that I get a sticker. 12 stickers = new book, or maybe new clothes To do this week track snacks scrapbook on Saturday 4 pages this week! garden buy plant stands 5 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "If more of us valued food and cheer and song, above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world" J.R.R.Tolkien Link to comment

Elastigirl
remembered last night to make a note about snacking . Today I played with the staff. A new movement called an elbow pop.I worked on it Monday. Actually made it to the second progression today. And worked on an ending pose for my flow, and the backhand catch. Then did some rowing. Went for a walk, and got rained on.At least it was warm rain I had my snack earlier than normal today. My stomach was rumbly.Waited 20 minutes, and I was really hungry. Then I wanted a snack at the normal time I've been snacking.Waited 20 minutes and the craving passed. Story from geocaching: The geocache was in the parking lot of the winery. There is an old tractor, and it was on that. So hubby and I were staring at the tractor intently, looking for the cache.A man comes by and starts talking old tractors, since he figured that was why we were so interested. Mr. Incredibles spent several summers on his grandpas farm, and so he knows a bit about old tractors. So he starts chatting with the guy about tractors, even though that wasn't why we were there. And another Covid lesson for me, I really like talking to random people.I'm such an introvert, and hardly ever start the talks, but I like talking to people, and missed when we didn't , and am glad that some people will still chat. 5 1 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "If more of us valued food and cheer and song, above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world" J.R.R.Tolkien Link to comment

Elastigirl
Had prayer in the backyard today with friends. My walking friend is gone for the month. Did go for a walk with hubby. Then went and played with the staff.I'm having fun because I have almost got a new move I'm working on, and I'm making plans on what to do for a flow. Then did my workout. For the L-sit, I leveled up! I was able to complete level 4, 2 sets of 8 reps of knee tuck raises. I've been working on this for what seems like forever. I was plateaued at 5 reps for the longest time. It actually started coming together at this challenge when I was doing less other L-sit work. Then I planted some flowers that I bought on Friday. I'd totally forgotten I'd bought them and put them in the backyard to plant later. Noticed them today, and they were looking rather sad. I watered them, and planted, so hopefully they will spring back 7 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "If more of us valued food and cheer and song, above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world" J.R.R.Tolkien Link to comment

Elastigirl
Been a few days here's a bit of an update Thursday evening : I wanted a snack, but delayed it 20 minutes. Then decided I wasn't hungry and just wanted something sweet, so I decided to fix a cup of tea with a bit of honey. However, I was watching TV, and then chatting with Mr.Incredible, and that didn't happen. One of the reasons I decided not to have a snack was that I'd had one yesterday. One of the themes from Josh Hillis's book is to sometimes say yes, and sometimes no. That seems to be working for me. It's not like this huge willpower struggle that comes from never, it's more just like well I really like having a snack on Friday evening while we watch a movie, so how about a no for today. Friday we did our date night picnic and walk. We went to Panerra. I love their salads. There was a lots of avocado , bacon ,and chicken in mine. It was a nice sunny day.Fun eating at the park and people watching. I didn't see anything much of note for Xena's bingo card though. Maybe there could be a square for somebody just learning a new skill? Saw a girl who was on a skate board , and was most likely new to it. Thoughts on weight: So, right at the beginning of The Uncertainty I gained 5 pounds. Since then I've gained two, hoping some of that is muscle. I fit in most of my clothes, but they are snugger, and some of the snugger clothes fits. A part of me want to lose weight, but there doesn't seem to be enough will power to do anything about it. I think my best plan is to work on some wise habits now, and if I'm inspired to lose weight later I will. Also, I'm doing the values work.I think that is starting to be helpful . Thinking though things like, is this going to bring me joy when I eat it or is there something else that might also do the same is good and doesn't feel overly restrictive. 8 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "If more of us valued food and cheer and song, above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world" J.R.R.Tolkien Link to comment

Elastigirl
Week 3 Do the journal for my values having to do with fitness and eating -yes tracking_ twice, which isn't great but better than nothing L-sit practice yes work on Flow for staff yes And Big WOOT- finished and ordered the scrapbook I made of my son's highschool debate years That was the quarantine project I decided to cancel, that I'd been putting off several years. Very excited to have it done and other week goals: garden; a bit not much due to allergies, and I'm really not pushing it this year ( I know it's allergies but don't like going to a store and sneezing) buy plant stands- yes This week's goals nothing: I mean I will do some things, but it is supposed to be sunny all week, so I'm going to go on walks, and sit outside and read and enjoy the sunshine, so no goals, Monday: DId my workout.I do the L-sit exercises, and then the workout. This is the last week of the program, and it is supposed to be 3 sets, but I was tired from the the L-sit work, and I did heavier weights, and so opted for 2 sets. For the L-sit, the workout says to do 4 sets of 8 , and then for the level up test do 3 sets of 5 with a hold at the top of each rep.I did 4 sets of 8 fairly easy, so tomorrow I will test to see if I can level up. I was pretty pumped that I did the 4 sets of 8 so easily. It took so long to get to this level ,and it seemed like I wasn't making progress, and then all of the sudden, it is so much easier. Proof that progress isn't always linear. Went to the visit family last night.my brother in law made strawberry pie with a gluten free crust. Yum. One of my food values is family.WHich means that I get to enjoy the treats(especially when someone makes them gluten free) Last night , in the middle of the night, I woke up with a horrible leg cramp. Been a long time since I've had that. Last summer, I drank my water with a pinch of salt, I guess I need to start that again. Woke up this morning to sad news. A police officer in our town had been shot and killed, and another wounded. Our whole town is mourning. People are going to our downtown this afternoon to show support. I'd love to go, but I don't think I will. Our rates of Covid are still pretty high, and while I am pretty relaxed about it, the idea of gathering with a bunch of strangers and then having my friends over the next day doesn't seem wise 2 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "If more of us valued food and cheer and song, above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world" J.R.R.Tolkien Link to comment
