Neeko, Tardy to the Party

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I had a pretty good challenge last month and I'm ready to make it happen again this time. I got a little lost, time frame wise, so I'm starting a couple days late. No big deal.

My challenge this go is as follows: Challenge Tracker

Charisma

  • Post on the forums daily.
  • Text or call a person for social reasons once a day.
  • Take some time to work on wedding planning daily.

Constitution

  • Track all the food and drink that I have consumed daily.
  • Stay within my point range most days.
  • Check one thing off of my household to do list.

Dexterity

  • Work on my paint by number painting.

Stamina

  • Take the dogs for a walk a couple times a week.

Strength

  • Practice yoga for a half an hour daily.

Wisdom

  • Work 32 hours at the nursing home.
  • Read a book for at least 15 minutes daily.
  • Complete 50 practice NCLEX questions.
  • Work on classwork/prepping for my next class.
  • Do a half an hour of LinkedIn Learning a day.

So we're not off to a bad start. I've been working 12s and finding it hard to do anything extra after work, aside from class work. But I think we'll fall into a routine soon. At least I hope so.

12 hr shifts? That’s rough. I hope you get some time soon.

Haha thank you. I like having this schedule, but it definitely makes it difficult to do anything extra on those days. I just need to remember to be patient with myself and to most importantly stay on track with my sleep.

I have a paint by number arriving this week from Amazon.  I'm very excited!  How is yours going?

That is exciting! Mine is going very slowly. My fiance was picking on me, because I just had to pick one of the most complicated once to do for my first one. lol But I'm hoping it will look awesome in the end so it will be worth it. It's this fantasy, bridge, waterfall scene. It looked awesome when I bought it.

What kind of painting did you get?

A super complicated one.  My first time as well.  I'm sure my husband and our boys will have a go at me once I get started.  But I think it will look cool in our rec room and I bet one of the boys will eventually steal it, as they do with most of the things I create...

Just another day in paradise here. Plans for the day were derailed to help my mom move a lot of heavy stuff out of the place she is storing it. So that was exciting. Work was work like. I'm all caught up on my homework. It's now 1 am so later today I'll need to take my final for my class but today will also involve moving more heavy stuff. I'm also finding, that wedding planning is a bit stressful. I'm also a couple hours late on taking my meds so that may be why I'm having the increased stress response. That and the lack of sleep. Ah well. We shall remedy both of those things shortly. Have a great night, everyone!

Following along! Creeping on your challenge structure last round inspired mine for my first official guilded challenge. NCLEX questions, are you finishing up your BSN, or some other nursing degree?

I'm glad I could be a bit of an inspiration. :)

I'm currently working on my associate RN degree. All of my classes are online and there is a lot of content. Doing NCLEX questions related to the readings has been helping me with my quizzes and tests.

It is almost the end of my work week! I'm ridiculously excited to go home and sit down after I finish all the stuff the boys didn't do while I was at work today. Today wasn't even a long week and I just feel drained. I don't really know/understand what's going on but we'll get through it. Especially since I need to appreciate this light week since for the next few months I'll be working 48-56 hour work weeks. It's all worth it though. We got this, plus I'm doing alright on this challenge so far so that's good.

Today has been crazy and oddly disappointing. I was well aware of the house work that needed doing. My mom was well aware of it too. An overwhelming amount of housework stresses me out as it is. Then we stopped what we were doing to go and help my mom move stuff from the place she was storing it because she "needed to do it now." I'm feeling a bit selfish, but she was supposed to come over to my house and hang out with me while I finished everything up. I dropped all my responsibilities to come help her today but it's now almost 11:30pm and she still isn't here because she's waiting for some deadbeat asshole to come give her money. My mom is a complicated story and I really try to be patient with her but honestly it gets hard when you play second to scumbags all the time. Sorry... thank you to anyone who made it through my rant... it's been quite a ride today.

Alrighty! The fourth was nice! We had a bonfire and grilled outside. My sister and her babies came over as well as a couple friends I haven't seen in forever. It was awesome. Today consisted of doing almost nothing, which was a nice change of pace. Then we went and bought a computer... Now I don't have to threaten to throw my Chromebook out a window and I can play WoW again! I'm super excited. I did play a little bit of WoW this evening, and connected with a few old friends from the game. I'm definitely looking forward to get back into the game and have a computer to do my school work on that doesn't make me even more stressed out. >.< Okay, I am beyond tired. I need the sleeps. I shall see you guys tomorrow!

What a lazy day! Honestly, it was amazing. I did very little. I played video games. I did get laundry done, though, so I suppose that counts as productive. Time to go to bed to start my fantabulously busy week! Night, guys!

Lazy days are the best days.

I agree! I tend to feel guilty afterwards though. And, then there are my 12 hour work days where I day dream about my bed all day. lol

Man oh man. This is my first week starting back to get my hours I need working at a nursing home for school. I think my body has become preemptively tired because of it. Plus the need to be tested for COVID once a week, kinda sucks. But this is overall good, and I need to keep reminding myself of this. Working a couple extra shifts a week, gives us extra money to pay for my classes, save for our wedding, honeymoon, family vacation, fertility treatment and anything in between. I just need to keep reminding myself of the positive things. Everything is just getting a little overwhelming again. And now, my fiance's dad has asked us to take his sister for a little bit. Now she's 17, so I feel like it shouldn't be that big of a deal, but I also feel a little bad that I won't be able to be very present while she's over. I also don't know for how long they want us to have her for. There also isn't a whole lot to do with her right now either with the pandemic. We also need to get the guest room finished so she will have a place to sleep and probably exist the entire time she's over. She's not very different from her brothers in that she basically exists on playing video games all day. Oh gosh, we'll probably need to get her a fan for the room too. We have central air but the bedrooms are still stuffy and hot. This is all good. Everything will be fine. We'll probably end up with her for the rest of the summer but everything will be fine. Gah, thank you for reading my rant if you made it this far...

Do they have a rapid test for you guys?  Where I am, the tests are about 7-10 days to wait.  But hey, at least you'll be immune to nasal swabs by the end of getting your hours done.  How many more left?

Ours aren't rapid and I'm honestly not sure how long the wait is. I haven't gotten any results, I was tested on Tuesday, and I'll be working today and tomorrow. This was my first time being tested though. I still have a lot of hours left: 135 hours to be exact or 17 shifts. I'm hoping I become more tolerant of the test though, it really sucks.

I do wonder what company they are going through though. I work at a doctors office full time and when we send people to be tested for COVID the results take anywhere from 2-10 days depending on which testing center they go to. You would think for employees being tested so they can work you would use the more efficient lab so you know your staff is good to work.

Yeah really. My old CIs are in the same boat in the inpatient settings I was in. Not a great system but I guess its what we are working with right now. Wow thats a decent amount of hours. For my DPT program we only needed 30 hours of observation/shadow to apply. Or is this a sort of practical/internship/preceptorship thing?  I supervised 2 undergrad students at my last clinic who were doing a 400 hour internship which was just crazy with how limited they technically are in touching patients. I did my best to let them use their brains and help but lots of red tape. Are you able to at least do more than clean, grab supplies etc?

Yeah, so I'm an LPN already, which means I can do most things a RN can do. There's only a couple things I can't do at my nursing home job. But working the nursing home gives me the hours I need for school where the doctors office does not. You need 200 for a year. I slacked off once covid started because my full time job is in a doctors office and I didn't want to risk bringing sickness to the residents in the nursing home. But its all good. We'll rock this out and get a little savings going and get this schooling done.

Working at the home, hasn't been crazy this weekend. It feels like the calm before the storm. I can only imagine what next weekend will be like. Everything will be fine. I'm looking forward to my day off tomorrow though. We may go to a state park for a day trip or we may stay home and play video games all day. Either will be acceptable.

So my day off yesterday turned into hanging out at my sister's house. Her kitchen and basement flooded so my fiance and I went over and he helped her boyfriend tear down a couple walls that turned out to be completely rotted. It was an all day affair. Work today was a bit overwhelming. I had a lot of work to do and I feel like I did nothing. It has been okay but now that my doc's schedule is kind of normalizing, it's making it difficult to keep up with my computer work/phone calls. My schedule is all wonky right now so I can pick up at the nursing home, I'm still working 40 hours with my doc but its staggered weird. I'm doing three 12s and two 3s. So that's effectively two days where I'm not in the office and that really backs up my computer/phone work. The other nurses are supposed to take a look at my inbox and address urgent messages and do quick things like send medications. More often then not, they don't even look at my stuff. Okay /end rant.

Challenge related, it does not appear to be going great. My physical attributes are not getting done and I really slacked off on food tracking. So I really need to get the food tracking back on track. Physically, I'm not super concerned at this point. Just surviving my crazy schedule for the next couple months will be an accomplishment for me so think I'm going to not worry on that.
