After testing the patience of Nadia for the last time, Red1263 decided to find something else to do while he waits for her to commune with the other conduits. 

 

Red1263 admires how she's completely focused mind, body and spirit "Hmm... I bet she's a kind of Druid." He then hears a familiar although unwanted voice in his head, 'Gee... You're a sharp one, aren't you?' Yep, it was Nadia. "Wait... Why do I hear your voice in my head?" 'I'm searching the minds of every nearby intelligent mind... Why I'm in your head, I have no idea.' "... Did- did you just insult me?" 'So anyway, I can tell that you were curious as to how I have learned to focus and meditate. I can show you the basics, while I'm searching around for the other conduits.' "Hmm... I don't know... I'm really not feelin--" 'JUST DO IT!' "Yes ma'am!... Errr...What do I do?"

Within the space of his mind, Nadia pulls several orbs of light and present it to him. 'These orbs contain Druid and Yoga Masters of various backgrounds. In each, you'll see their poses that help correct one's chi flow and--' "I CAN'T DO THAT! You must be insane! I can't bend like that! I can't even touch my toes!" 'I... You... Really? Well that presents a problem... Give me a moment.'

'Well then, we're going to have to fix that then!' "Beg pardon?" 'Right! Here we go!

 

  1. Toe touching - at least 30 mins of pure stretching, I'll start with the NF Flexibility benchmarks to get an accurate assessment of where I'm at and then go from there.
    1. NF Flexibility Challenge
    2. Standing hamstring stretch, Downward Dog, Triangle Pose, sitting Hamstring Stretch, Lunges
  2. Signs of Life - I recently got a book that shows through scripture why Catholic traditions are the way they are. I'll admit whenever someone asks me why I do a certain ritual, or where is it in the bible, I have no answer, so I'm going to fix that.
    1. Read a chapter a week with reflection, and read the scriptural evidence
  3. Keeping a food journal - I don't think I've ever done this before, but I want to see how I can improve my eating, but I need to keep track of what I eat for now. I'll just report what was consumed.
    1. Any and all feedback as to healthier replacements are welcome!
  4. Basic workout - Along with my stretching, I'm going to resume my workout per hour. Push-ups, Bodyweight Squats, and planks. 3 sets minimum, 25 reps each set.

I'm glad to hear that! For now I'm only recording all of the things I'm eating, I'm not calorie counting or anything, just getting a look at what I'm putting into my body :P

Granted the challenge started a couple of days ago, but this will be my official Day 1:

  1. Toe touching 
    1. Benchmark: 
      1. V sit and Reach: 56 cm
      2. Toe Touch: 10 cm from the ground
    2. 30 mins done? Yes, but I'm going to modify my stretches a little bit, I am going to do 2 sets of stretches which will be done as follows for 3 minutes each (1:30 for each side, if applicable)
      1. Light warm-up
      2. 1st set: Standing hamstring stretch, Downward Dog, Triangle Pose, sitting Hamstring Stretch, Forward Lunges
      3. 5 min break to die for a little bit
      4. 2nd set: Standing toe touch, Cat/Camel, Butterfly Stretch, Star Stretch, Moon the Sky stretch, Side Lunges
    3. Notes: Most of the stretches, I kept to just on the brink of pain, but the Moon the Sky stretch that I found on the NF article here, it nearly killed me, because I can't stretch my legs fully, so my legs thought we were doing some kinda Wall sit exercise and I can feel the burn slowly rising in my thighs!
  2. Signs of Life - The chapter is on the Mass, I haven't finished it yet, so tomorrow I'll sum up what I have learned and I'll look into the scriptures reinforcing that.
  3. Keeping a food journal:
    1. Breakfast: Deathwish Coffee 16 oz brewed at home and an Everything Bagel with Smart Balance Buttery spread
    2. Work (which during this time I'm drinking at least 30+ oz of water throughout my shift)
    3. Snacks: McGriddle and a mini slim jim (both given to me by coworkers)
    4. Lunch: Chicken breast with Mixed Veggies and potatoes with water, Granny Smith Apple, and a Clif Bar with chocolate chip
    5. Snack: None... Yet... Maybe... I am kinda hungry
    6. Dinner: Don't know yet
    7. Notes:
  4. Basic workout - Done? No. Just the stretching alone nearly killed me, so my plan is to alternate between Stretching day and Workout Day. So tomorrow I'll workout!

    3. NotesDUDE! I'm more flexible than I thought! Granted I'm not hitting the floor yet, but I had no idea I can go so low on the center splits! The forward splits though, that's about as far as I thought I would go (which isn't much :P ), I really felt a stretch on my left side of my hip, more so than anywhere else. But during the stretching sets, I can see myself inching more and more towards my toes.
  2. Signs of Life - I'm going to finish the chapter tonight. Last night, my Xbox stole all of my attention :P

    1. Yesterday
      1. Snack: Ghirardelli Intense Dark 72% cacao square 
      2. Dinner: So my friend whose room I'm renting wants to cook dinner so yesterday I had beans, salad, and hot dogs (she was shaken up by news of her neighbors. It's... pretty dark... I'd rather not share it. But normally I eat pretty awesome stuff, so don't be worried :P 
    2. Today: I overslept and was late to work, so I had to buy all my food
      1. Breakfast: 2-3 starbursts and eventually a Starbucks frappuccino and a 6" Italian sub from Walmart
      2. Work (which during this time I'm drinking at least 30+ oz of water throughout my shift)
      3. Snacks: none
      4. Lunch: Cuban sandwich (w/o mayo) and a Sunshine shake which consisted of Pineapple, Mango, OJ, and Banana, and a granny smith apple 
      5. Snack: Ghirardelli Intense Dark 72% cacao square 
      6. Dinner: Pork chops with green beans and blended Quinoa/Rice mix.
  4. Basic workout - Done? Today no. But Yesterday I did, and I had no idea how exhausted my body was! I did 1 min plank, and then struggled to do 10 pushups! 10! Work was pretty intense and I had to do some massive lifting of totes of groceries all in a rush (several people showing up at once + everyone buying water by the literal gallons/40 bottle crates + whatever random groceries they want on top of that that's also heavy in large quantities = One tired Red1263) So once I finished my pushups I did 25 Squats and called it a day. I simply couldn't go on. Hopefully tomorrow I can do much better.

Sounds like you got your workout at work.... Even if it's not "structured", you're still working those muscles.

It was more like something happened to neighbors close to us, and the news shook her a bit. She's perfectly fine though.

Truth be told, save for my skinny teenage nieces, I'm the skinniest of nearly all of my family.

      3. Snacks: 2 small bags of cherries
      4. Lunch: 2 Breakfast burritos (meal prepped), a clif bar and a granny smith apple 
      5. Snack: Ghirardelli Intense Dark 72% cacao square and some Cheezits (about a handful... I'm going to run out soon O.o)
      6. Dinner: Pork chops with baked potato and boiled broccoli with some cheese sprinkled ontop.
  4. Basic workout - Done? Sunday I did 2 sets, 25 reps each, I felt back to my normal self again!

      1. Back Scratch: fingertips can slightly overlap
      2. Shoulder Flexibility: 122 cm (measured the distance from the innermost part of hands)
    2. 30 mins done? Yes
      1. Light warm-up
      2. 1st set: Standing hamstring stretch, Downward Dog, Triangle Pose, sitting Hamstring Stretch, Forward Lunges
      3. 5 min break to die for a little bit
      4. 2nd set: Standing toe touch, Cat/Camel, Butterfly Stretch, Star Stretch, Moon the Sky stretch, Side Lunges
    3. Notes: So far the hardest of all of these stretches are the Moon the Sky stretch, maybe it's because it's one of the last stretches I do, but my quads are really burning when I do that one. Also I've noticed that when I reach for my toes, I can reach for my right side a bit more than my left side.
  2. Signs of Life - I haven't reviewed the chapter yet nor have I gone through the biblical sources, but I'll make a better effort tomorrow

      5. Snack: Ghirardelli Intense Dark 72% cacao square and about a handful of cheezits
      6. Dinner: Turkey Meatball sandwiches with salad

      1. Breakfast: Coffee, cereal
      2. Day off - I visited the clinic where my future job will be taking place (ON AUGUST!)
      3. Snacks: 3 doughnuts (bought by my future boss)
      4. Lunch: 5 slices of pizza (also bought by my future boss)
      5. Snack: none
      6. Dinner: Del Taco (Landlady's aunt treated due to their car breaking down and it taking 4 hours to get home)
  4. Basic workout - Done? Yesterday No, I had a netflix party movie night with friends and then lost track of time.

      4. 2nd set: Standing toe touch, Cat/Camel, Butterfly Stretch, Star Stretch, Moon the Sky stretch, Side Lunges
    3. Notes: Currently, nothing new has occurred, except for the Star stretch, with my left arm reaching for my right foot, for a SMALL, very brief moment, I touched my toe.

      6. Dinner: a whole tombstone pizza with a sprite and a can of Blue Moon

      1. Breakfast: Coffee
      2. Work
      3. Snacks: 2 mini protein bars and a tootsie roll pop
      4. Lunch: An apple, Nurtigrain bar and a stoffer's Mini lasagna
      5. Snack: 3-4 double stuffed oreos
      6. Dinner: 3 jalapeno and cheese stuffed sausages, and about half a bag of Pizza rolls with a sprite
  4. Basic workout - Done? Yesterday No.

So I'm currently house sitting for my (future) boss, and so I've completely thrown off my eating, because he has filled his fridge with lots of "good" foods and told me that I'm free to eat whatever I want. So now I'm going to spoil myself for a little bit :P
