NightWatcher13 dials back

Recommended Posts

Bit late to the party this round I'm afraid 😅 Long story short, last challenge especially I managed to see a LOT of progress (some of which I didn't even realize until after the challenge was done)

 - I've gotten some control back of my sleep schedule,

 - I've managed to get back in the habit of primarily making my own food rather than running through the drive thru due to rushing,

 - while not able to do as much as I want to, I'm getting back in the habit of exercise and it's definitely helping my mental health dramatically,

 - I've lost 2 inches off my bust and 1 off my chest since last time I measured in February, which while gradual and localized is at least moving the right direction.

 - my now former roommate is no longer here and is getting the help she so desperately needed, I don't have details but she did text me to let me know it's going well

That being said - I still have a tendency to think I should be able to do ALL THE THINGS - especially at work right now. And I can't keep that up right now.

So this challenge, I'm still going to try to make sure I am doing certain things - but also starting to reign in some things that are causing issues when they get out of control.

Quest 1 - Pencils down, papers in.

I need to stop letting my ADHD or stress latch onto things at work that need done after I should really be done for the day. So I need to make sure that outside of extenuating circumstances, I am not letting my shifts go beyond 9 hours - with an obvious preference towards 8, but I do have the flexibility to work a bit over here, cut out a bit early there - but not allowing myself to get wrapped up in things so drastically that I wind up with 10+ hour shifts without a dang good reason.

Points - 1 for each day I got off work by 7pm, max of 5 / wk

Quest 2 - Space out and schedule workouts

While I've been getting workouts in, between my work schedule and me overworking my body because VR games are so much dang fun my workout schedule has been sporadic at best. So I want to try to start scheduling these and being able to keep that schedule - currently one of my biggest issues has been still being at work when I'm supposed to be working out. I'm also going to try to get some variety, with stretchy yoga spaced in between BoxVR/Beat Saber workouts.

Points - 1 for each workout I keep on schedule, max of 6 - I'm scheduling yoga every other day, with the more high-impact VR stuff on opposing days (sundays off)

Quest 3 - Bedtime

While I have made some progress on getting a steady bedtime, that's been slipping a fair bit the last couple of weeks with chaos at work and stress. I'm going to try to reign the other factors in as well obviously, but will also be making a concerted effort to make bedtime a priority later at night since that seems to make a huge difference in my day.

Points - track sleep times - 7 max points / wk

I'll edit this later to figure out point systems, but wanted to get this up and on here so I had the outline on here at least.

Hey!  Found you.   (I tried searching with the search button and ... that thing always messes me up and takes me to some weird side of NF land.)

Glad to see you're still rocking the VR stuff, me too - so dang fun.    And thank goodness because it's pouring all day today so I at least have some cardio to look forward to once I get home!   Grats on the progress!   My boobs also shrunk over the past few months... BSB?  Beat Saber Boobs?  Maybe?  I dunno haha.

Nice plan on things.

Here to follow along for all the stuff.

Have you come up with a point system?  How did week one go?

Yup, just got the point system up.

As for week 1 (and week 2 as of now) - kinda so - so?

Week 1 check-in: (this week was not great, and also was a lot of why I put my challenge up most of the way through this week. It was a bit hectic)

Work - 2/5 (...this was a lot of why I put this challenge up actually, late as it was ^^; we were starting to have more of a balance at work before this particular week, but uhm... there were some issues that came to a head during this week)

Exercise schedule - 1/6, I got a VR workout in late in the week but that was it.

Sleep - 6/7, I did get most of the week tracked, though also some serious issues getting to bed/getting to sleep during the first half of the week due to some pretty extreme stress levels.

Long, terribly uninteresting story short on the stress - they changed the lab manager at work, and my lab partner and I are beginning to have some serious issues with the new manager.

Week 2 check-in:

Work - 3/4* (had yesterday off due to the 4th falling on a weekend, but at least didn't stay super late most of the week)

Exercise schedule - 3/6, got 2 VR workouts in and did (very gentle) yoga today. It was mostly stretches assigned by my chiropractor to start getting my body to start behaving itself again.

Sleep -5/7, didn't catch the front of the week but got tuesday-today.

(Also, I have to show off the new tracking stuff for this month because new bullet journal - and neons go POP! - the pic is from yesterday so today's stuff isn't tracked on it)

OMG That tracker is better than sex!

Ok, I can't honestly say that as well ... ANYWAY!  ahem.

Seriously awesome there.  You've inspired me to make one so that I can get back on track here.    Did you stencil that circle one in?  Your lines are so dang straight!

Man my sleep and workouts has been so bad lately too.   I keep not doing strength stuff because its hard.

🤣😆 Glad you like the tracker. And yup, it's stenciled - this is the stencil I've been using for the sleep trackers https://www.etsy.com/listing/753294496/bullet-journal-habit-tracker-semi-circle?ref=shop_home_feat_1&bes=1 and just used washi tape to hold it in place so my lines didn't wander around the page. She's also where I got the stickers with the days of the week written out all fancy a couple of months ago.

Oh no, I need to hop around and check on challenges but I'm sorry you're having a hard time right now. Sleep is super hard to wrangle consistently, and strength stuff can definitely be hard to keep up.

I might have to check that site out.   I love the nice blocks and designs, but get super flustered when I mess them up trying to do them by free hand!

Thanks!

How is your challenge going?

Quest 1: Work

Sooooo... uhm... work kinda ate my life the last coupe of weeks. The 2 week shutdown that I was counting on being a time that I could reset and start leveling out my hours to a normal day turned out to be a hectic mess... and startup wasn't much calmer. Today was the first day this week I got off before 8pm. I don't even know what to do about it right now tbh - I feel like any time I try to pull back from work it just blows up again.

Quest 2: Exercise

Working later has very much not helped, I've managed to get yoga in here and there but since I don't want to do the VR ones too close to when I want to sleep, those have been harder to get in at all.

Quest 3: Sleep

Well, I was getting some control back on this.

Non-challenge plus - I've gotten some reading in at least (pink x's are days I got reading in, the one for next month has a nicer tracker methinks but this one works for now)

I get that feeling so much, I can't freehand to save my life so the stencils and such help a lot with the trackers - I love watching other people do awesome stuff with their bullet journals, and do get some ideas from them, but heck if I can do the insanely artsy layouts etc that some folks do every single month or week

Completed bujo tracker for last month/most of last challenge - very much not perfect and holy smokes did my workouts go up in smoke, but there's some silver linings at least - that's probably the most reading I've done since I got my current job (the trackers don't correlate perfectly to the challenge)
