Luckily it doesn't appear to have ended up as a nightmarish, more as just an annoying thing that happened one day and won't leave any long-term emotional scars.

Yesterday was Sunday so we had our church services as usual.  It was the last Zoom meeting as we will be meeting in person again from next week.  This is a mixed blessing because although it is great for those of us who are here and can attend, we have at least half of our congregation spread to the 4 winds and unable to return to China.  We even have 3 girls who are locked down on campus for no good reason who will probably not be allowed to come.

 

After that was over, it was time for the big event I was hinting about yesterday.  Ghostess's best friend got a little tomcat (now about 6 months old) and she had the great idea of scheduling a playdate for Wraith and Latte (the other cat).  I told her the best case scenario is that tey will sit there are hiss at each other the whole time, but she has plans.  She wants for these guys to have kittens someday, so we wanted to have them get together for a first date.  I don't know if she was expecting them to hold paws and watch the sunset out the window together or what but as you all can guess, it went exactly like I expected.  Luckily they only got into melee combat twice (Wraith was the clear victor both times  ). 

 

 

After an hour of watching them hiss and growl at each other, they eventually gave up and I brought Wraith and Ghostlet home while Ghostess went to the gym.

 

The evening was pretty slow because Ghostlet was out for one of his evening classes.

 

And that is about enough for this challenge.  Next one is up!

That's a relief, for all of us, I think.  I hope the stomach upset is long past as well.

An apparition of a dead soul refusing to leave this plane of existence, versus an over-priced Starbucks concoction made from skim milk? Of course Wraith won!

 

When we adopted our younger cat, Mellow Sidekick, we kept him entirely separated from Regal Sidekick for the first week. Week two, they were allowed to experience the smell of the other cat, by investigating a cat toy the other had used, until that no longer provoked rage in Regal Sidekick. It took nearly two months of gradually increased exposure to each other before they could be trusted to be alone in a room together. Based on my personal experience, "play dates" with cats who don't know each other, are not a good idea. They are solitary predators, highly territorial and designed to hunt and kill, and I am genuinely concerned that they will harm each other and cause serious injury. I would not risk one of my cats on a play date.

Ahh man, it is so much more fun to have an awesome authority figure I can be obedient to. I always joke with friends I would make a great right hand woman to a (philantropic?) mob boss. Preferrably ones that can read my mind. Drat.  (Not saying Ghostlet feels the same way but I was a super obedient child too. All my parents' friends were jealous.)

 

With parents like you guys, Ghostlet will learn.  Sooner or later. School takes a lot of mental energy, and battling with your tendencies takes lots of mental energy too.

Yeah, I don't think play dates for cats should be a thing either because they just aren't going to play together.

Fair enough. And if you want to be really technical, a latte is actually really a "cafe latte", so what I should have said is that the visiting cat was named after a glass of milk. Which obviously still would lose to a Wraith. 😉

FALSE. As we all should know, the one thing angry spirits show less tolerance for than the cares of the living, is the dreaded spectre of lactose.

 

Also, is it just me, or are these two cats uncommonly cute? Maybe I’m just used to North American tabbies, but these two are particularly round little orbs of fuzz. They are to American cats as the cotton ball is to the Q-tip.

I am obviously biased here, but yes.  I have no idea what breeds exist in other parts of the world, but apparently these two are both British Shorthairs, Wraith being a Silver and Latte being a Gold.
