Nyx, Daughter of Chaos
Regarding your ADHD diagnosis, some friends and I have been talking about adult women being diagnosed with this later in life, and what a difference it's made in their/our lives I'm currently in the process of getting officially diagnosed. It will be a couple of months before I can get diagnosed - I have to stop smoking weed for 90 days since I smoked nearly everyday for the last ten years (though to be honest, I don't think I'll go back after the 90 days are up). But in talking about the different symptoms and expressions of ADHD in women, I'm really looking forward to getting diagnosed and getting help. I'm glad that you're cutting yourself some slack..."I'm not just a messy piece of sh&t!" <3 2 Quote Nyx, Daughter of Chaos Link to comment
Rubble
First daily update on my new goals... WOW... My Ritalin generic worked pretty much instantly. I felt focused and how I usually do when I get "focused spurts", as I used to call them. I cleaned some more, but I did it in a methodical way, instead of being distracted every twenty seconds. Physical Health (STR, DEX, CON) Move/Work Out/Deep Clean for 20-30 minutes 3x per week (STR + 3) In the last 2 days, I have torn apart my bedroom, donated 3 bags of clothes, taken out 3 bags of various trash from the bedroom, and listed a dozen things on my local "Buy Nothing" Facebook group. I've hung an extra closet shelf/rod, changed the litter boxes, done countless loads of laundry... my body is SORE. Hah! Stretch and/or meditate for 10-15 minutes 5x per week (DEX +2) I haven't been stretching much, but I have been taking some quiet time to myself. I took a bubble bath this afternoon (because I'm bougie) and it was lovely to just soak and think. Limit snacking outside of meals to 1x per day and before 8pm (my weakness is late night munchies) (CON +3) This has been going pretty well! Mental Health (INT, WIS, CHA) Continue reading anti-racist literature / articles multiple times per week (INT +2) Check! Adhere to my weekly cleaning/organizing schedule (WIS +5) And then some! (see above). I have officially deep cleaned every room (except for the spare bedroom, which is now a dump site for the stuff without a home). Because I did such a deep clean last week, this week has been pretty easy! My bathroom took 15 minutes, instead of an hour! Is this... is this how the normies live? Check in to NF at least 3x per week to update progress (CHA +4) I'm doing well with this! Probably better than I ever have! 1 Quote Level 1 Assassin "Why, you're absolutely crazy. Rubble
Physical Health (STR, DEX, CON) Move/Work Out/Deep Clean for 20-30 minutes 3x per week (STR + 3 Today was the day. I did it. I cleaned my car. I removed 2 trash bags full of trash and about 6 loads of various “things” to go into the house. It didn’t even take that long. I’m finding that with my low dose of Ritalin is taking away those barriers and making the insurmountable feel surmountable! I then went and got a car wash and vacuumed out my interior. Ahhh. It feels good. I think I’m going to give myself permission to relax tomorrow. Stretch and/or meditate for 10-15 minutes 5x per week (DEX +2) I spent some quiet time sitting outside this morning. It was very pleasant. Limit snacking outside of meals to 1x per day and before 8pm (my weakness is late night munchies) (CON +3) So far, so good! Mental Health (INT, WIS, CHA) Continue reading anti-racist literature / articles multiple times per week (INT +2) Took a break today, but still going strong. Adhere to my weekly cleaning/organizing schedule (WIS +5) See above! I also organized my laundry area. Me too. I missed my second dose yesterday because I don't have "purse pills" yet... and I could definitely feel the difference at about 3pm. I'm starting to really understand my ADD/ADHD students who need that lunchtime dose. 2 Quote Level 1 Assassin "Why, you're absolutely crazy. There's nothing I can't do." Link to comment
Rubble
Physical Health (STR, DEX, CON) Move/Work Out/Deep Clean for 20-30 minutes 3x per week (STR + 3 Now that my home is under control, I want to start incorporating more physical movement. Stretch and/or meditate for 10-15 minutes 5x per week (DEX +2) The "enrichment teacher" for my summer school led us in a BEAUTIFUL breathing exercise today that I have stopped to do multiple times when I was feeling stressed about the return to school during a pandemic. You trace a figure 8 on your palm in inhale on the first look, exhale on the second loop. I loved it... the visual, the tactile... it was so soothing. Mental Health (INT, WIS, CHA) Continue reading anti-racist literature / articles multiple times per week (INT +2) I am currently on a Zoom call for local LGBTQ rights and allyship, led by our two trans state reps. Happy to be learning! Adhere to my weekly cleaning/organizing schedule (WIS +5) Today I emptied my "bathroom cabinet", which is a tall linen closet that I use for various toiletries, cold medicine, paper good storage, etc. It had become an overcrowded pit of nonsense, so I pulled everything out and organized it. While I was at it, I cleaned the bathroom - early! Why not, I was there and it was easy, since I've been keeping up with it! That's a neat idea, giving you more than one thing to focus on so the brain doesn't get bored and wander. How'd the rest of the week go for you?
