dancezwithkittehz
Still trying to decide on my final plan of goals but the number one this time is definitely HYDRATION. I have been failing at that lately and the constant slight dehydration is no bueno. This post will be a work in progress until the end of Zero week (hopefully I get my shit together sooner than the end of the week 😂) Updated 7/31 with set goals! I did the thing and not last minute! Go me! haha GOALS: 1. Hydration! -Goal of 8 glasses a day/ 64oz a day.- I've been failing at remembering to drink water lately and dehydration feels icky so time to get back in the habit. I'm particularly failing at remembering to drink between 8am and 5pm (I always drink around 16 oz in the morning with medication plus at least 8 or so as part of my going to bed taking sleep aids ritual. It's better than nothing but NOT ENOUGH. 2. EAT MORE VEGGIES - Eat some veggie with both lunch and dinner every day. I don't care how much, or if it's just a pickle or a handful of olives, SOMETHING. Side note, can we really count pickles and olives as veggies? I mean olives are probably technically a fruit? I love anything brined but I feel like it is cheater and not a real veggie that way but YUMM PICKLES GIMME GIMME. (ALso I still really want to learn how to make legit pickles someday. I've made quick pickles a thousand times but not "real" pickles.) 3. Regular eating schedule - I am still trying to figure out how to stop eating late so this has high possibility of me adjusting it as I try to figure out something that works. My goal is to eat more food earlier so I stop having super late dinners. I will eat breakfast daily and if I don't eat breakfast I will at least hit a substantial mid afternoon snack around 3pm. (Both breakfast and a mid afternoon snack is also OK.) 4. New workout schedule - daily workout circuit - I am going to see how my body handles doing the little workout circuit to hit all the different muscle groups if I do it daily. Since I don't have access to heavy weights I am figuring light to moderate volume of all over body work (and some kettle bell and aerial obviously) may work out. If I find I am not recovering properly I will add back in rest days. This is going to be a play it by ear and see how it works kind of thing. Also once we add back in dance (friend who leads is on vacation right now) I will probably skip the circuit on those days. I am not setting the exact exercises I do everyday but I am trying to hit legs, push, pull, press, core, + balance exercises. I have been doing a lot of like, stereotypical booty girl workouts lately which I am trying to not feel silly about, but booty girl workouts actually overlap a lot with what you'd be hitting in dance classes sooo yeah. It's a nice mindless option for when I don't want to remember full dance warm up sequence and want to still hit all those muscles. 6 Quote Assassin extraordinaire!! ohlemontine
For the veggie issue, has anyone here tried the Plant Jammer app? I really like it - but unfortunately my bf (who makes most of the food because I'm sleeping due to 3rd shift work) thinks it's too complicated or too hard to learn anything new, so often he throws a fit if I throw one if these recipes at him. But the app is really great, you can either start with a base recipe you wanna make (like ramen, or stir fry or omelette etc) and a base ingredient or 2, or start with a base ingredient or two to generate a list of dishes that would work well, and then it will make suggestions until you have a fully balanced taste profile for your dish. You can make a meal plan for the week and a grocery list, and it has a section of recipes that are good for using up what's already in your fridge if you (like me) have a habit of buying a bunch of veggies and fruits and then use a little bit of each and then the remainder rots in your fridge... >_<' It's a vegetarian based app, so theres no integration with meat dishes, so that may be the only downside, but you can always use the recipes you make with the app and add in any meat you may want to use, otherwise you can also tell it things you cant have due to allergies or dietary restrictions and it will take them off the lists of suggestions, so you can make the app work with any diet. Just a suggestion on something that has helped me get a few more veggies and fruits into my meals lately. 1 Quote Current Challenge : New Frame C1 str ?? | dex ?? | sta ?? | con ?? | wis ?? | cha ?? dancezwithkittehz
I am thinking for my veggie goal I need to start keeping the microwaveable steamfresh veggies in the freezer again. SO BORING, but if I put some cajun seasoning on them and maybe a pat of butter they are surviveable anyway. I should get some more lazy person spice blends for tossing on veggies maybe. I mean, I'd much rather just have some gourmet veggie noms ready to go at all times but I think I need to find the quick, lazy frozen meal version of veggies so I am at least eating SOMETHING. I did that in the past and I did at least eat them begrudgingly. And uh, I need to like, actually remember to eat veggies I do buy...I keep letting veggies I have wilt and die because I am not inspired to make anything interesting with them after I buy them. I so wish I was less of a mood eater and that all foods I like always sounded good to me at the same time. It would make food waste far less common for me!!! I can't do the make a big batch of something thing because I will be tired of it too quickly. I can maybe get myself to eat leftovers maybe twice for a most things. It's terrible I know. But I will always opt for not eating over eating something I'm not in the mood for. I've also tried vacuum ceiling portions of things to eat later but that seems like a massive waste of plastic and I found myself forgetting to eat the leftovers still anyway. 2 Quote Assassin extraordinaire!! dancezwithkittehz
Today officially sucks. Mango, my old lady kitty, is having trouble breathing and I had to take her in to the emergency vet. They are keeping her at least overnight until they can figure out what is wrong and what can be done to help her (please please please let it be something that can be treated? 😭😭😭) I am also now greatly regretting having spent any fun money in the last few months. dancezwithkittehz
Kitty gets to come home today. She has severe hyperthyroidism which may have caused heart problems that led to the fluid build up. They are having trouble testing to see how well she is breathing because she is purring a bunch now but they have had her off the oxygen since they removed the fluid. Hopeful cat mamma hopes purring is a sign she is feeling a little better and breathing better. I need to make an appointment with a kitty cat cardiologist which I am sure will be expensive but probably not nearly the $ of this trip at least..... I know this means we are also at the start of the end here for her but I am hopeful I can at least have some more time with her with her feeling OK and properly managed with meds. dancezwithkittehz
She is home but I am worried about her still. I can't get her to eat and I still haven't actually seen her sleep (which is super weird for a cat). She IS able to lay down today which she couldn't yesterday....I could take her back to kitty ER but part of me is also thinking it might be time to see if I can have the at home euthanasia people come so she doesn't have to be stuck alone and afraid at the emergency vet with a heart/lung problem that is too far gone to really treat... I hate having to think about this. I don't want to traumatize her more. She could just be disoriented from vet shit but ike, not sleeping you guys. I did manage to get her to drink some tuna water so although she hasn't eaten at least she has had that..... 3 Quote Assassin extraordinaire!! sylph
You can always call back to the clinic and discuss with them what you're seeing--maybe they can do a little tele-health visit with you and old lady kitty so you don't have to get her all packed up and out of the house. Maybe just let her chill out for a little while and see if she settles down? 1 Quote Link to comment

Decided to call the ER vet and ask realistically if she is still having breathing problems and seems really bad if there really is anything we can do other than put her on oxygen and prolong her suffering. The doc agreed with me that if she's really struggling still after getting the fluid off that putting her down seems to be a reasonable and kind ideas. I guess kind of confirming what I was already thinking but yeah.... I don't want to take her to an in person vet if I can avoid it....she is uncomfortable but she at least can lay around and stuff. The soonest I can get the at home euthanasia people out is on Monday so it's going to be a long fucking weekend but yeah... I don't want her to die scared at a vet away from me and her home.
