WFH Day 22.3-22.4 🏃♀️2.5 mile fast run 🏖️Beach time (with reading) 🌳Park hangs with friends Day 22.5 I lifted on Friday late again which I've decided I really like, haha. I kept it shorter because I planned on lifting again Saturday morning and FaceTime'd my friend through cooking a peach galette between my sets of squats, lol. Squats: 3 x 4 x 255#, 2 x 3 x 255# Pause squats: 5 x 2 x 235# Dips: 3 x 8 Curls: 3 x 8 x 20# Day 22.6 Saturday morning had big plans! I didn't sleep super well and I only ate a little bit before I went to the gym, buuuut the plan called for RPE 9 bench singles. 👀I take my sweet, sweet time on Saturday morning workouts, usually finishing my coffee and eating breakfast there while catching up on a week's worth of gossip with one of my best gym friends. Bench: 1 x 155#, 1 x 160#, 1 x 165#, and ...🥁1 x 170#! New 1RM! It was super clean and not QUITE a 9 on effort. I attempted 175#, but it wasn't quite there yet. ANOTHER DAY SOON. I think I would have had 172.5#, haha. Close grip bench: 3 x 10 x 115# Deficit deadlifts: 5 x 3 x 255# Deadlifts: 5 x 4 x 285# Toes-to-bar: 4 x 8 After the gym, I showered, took a nap, and met up with GC who is NOT moving out of the city after all. Hahahah haha hahaaaaa.I helped him look at apartments (I know, you guys, I know.) and then we set up out on my porch, drinking beers and eating charcuterie. My roommate joined us for a while and it was all very nice -- though the downstairs neighbors were having a backyard showing of Best in Show and didn't even invite us, SIGH. It's more complicated than it sounds because my roommate was maybe sleeping with one of them and then they decided to shut us all out because they didn't agree with how we are handling the pandemic (??) or whatever. It's a bummer because we had a lot of plans for fun, whole-house summer events that obviously have been cancelled and now they're just actively excluding us from the things they plan. 🤷♀️ Day 22.7 I biked around a bunch for errands to places I certainly had never biked before, including getting a COVID test because I was in a higher risk area during vacation and it seems like the right thing to do, even if I did a good job of distancing, sanitization, masking up, etc. The rapid test gave me a negative result. 👍 I went BACK to the gym (I know) for an hour of quick accessory work I maybe had skipped in the previous workouts. Pull-ups: 5 x 5 Weighted dips: 5 x 4 x 25# (much better form than last time) Front squats: 4 x 4 x 165# Bulgarian split squats: 4 x 12 x 35# DB rows: 4 x 10 x 40# Ab wheel: 3 x 8 BB wanted to hang out again, so we had an incredibly high school afternoon that involved smoking weed in a cemetery, kissing in a park, and talking about bands. I clarified what I'm all about and was basically like "I'm kind of at my max allowance of potential house guests at this point... you know, with the pandemic and all." He seemed fine with all of it and still wants to EXPLORE or whatever. I don't know. Everyone's bored and weird right now. My BFF and I were joking that if I keep regressing at this rate, I'll be holding hands with my crush at the arcade by next month and limited to just throwing dirt on them by November. Lift: 4/3 Bike: 1/1 Run carefully: 1/2 Green spaces: 1/1 Get in the water: 1/1 Read 30 minutes: 4/7 days Down a run and some reading during week 2. 🤷♀️BUT otherwise things were great! I clearly am not hanging out in the right places for this...even pre COVID times hahaha. (Yes. I DID actually think about taking up crossfit at one point because there might be eligible dudes there. Gym Crush is obviously from the gym, but the only person from any of the gyms I've worked out at that I've had anything to do with romantically -- which is an outlying experience, it seems, as these gyms (one was a climbing gym, 2 lifting gyms -- heck, even the gymnastics gym has spawned multiple relationships AND a marriage) usually have a lot of tomfoolery. Bike Boi is a friend of a friend from the gym that I've hung out with a lot in group hang settings. I'm under the impression GC and BB would not have become a Thing (at least not in the ways that they are) without the weird situations created by COVID. LOOK TO YOUR FRIENDS OF FRIENDS AND THIRD TIER COMPANIONS IN THESE STRANGE TIMES. Chat up people who you kind of like but never did anything about. Slide into DMs, wait no... CARPE DM. 😁 Day 23.2 Tackled my mild hangover with a dope bagel sandwich with eggs, cheese, pesto, and pickled onions -- it was transcendent. 🙌 I pushed bench to tomorrow so I would wrap up in time to meet a good friend for dinner. I didn't want to squat at ALL, but I checked the program for deadlifts and it's heavy AMRAPs, soooo this seemed like the better bet in the end. Squats: 2 x 5 x 255#, 3 x 4 x 255# <-- these were all supposed to be 5s but I was notttt feeling super awesome so I knocked a rep off for a few of the sets. I'll make sure to hit all 5s next workout. It was different from what I expected, but enjoyed it quite a bit and recommend it to you all. After work and Bruins game (booyah) lifts went very well. Bench: 6 x 6 x 135# paused <-- this was supposed to be lighter, but lol fuck you, program, you don't know me Deadlifts: 6 x 300# (AMRAP set) + 2 x 3 x 310# 😏 Deficit deadlifts: 3 x 2 x 280# Chin-ups: 3 x 7 Plank shoulder taps x infinity My accessories game has been a bit lacking lately. I either need to schedule myself for more time in the gym or start timing my sets like some kind of jerk. 🙄One of my friends has set up a shed in his yard into like a little outdoor tiki bar and he had a few of us over last night for daiquiris 🍹 It was really, really delightful. (no probably not) I think I have to explore jogging and lifting on the same day one of these days. I loved the movie Arrival, mostly because it was about linguistics and there aren't many movies that focus on that. Just read the short story you linked and I love it, thank you for doing that. Squat: 5 x 5 x 255# <-- this squat workout was... SO very hard. Paused squats: 3 x 3 x 235# Bench: 3 x 6 x 135# CGBP: 2 x 10 x 115# Ab wheel 4 x 8 Bench and deadlift are coming back well, but squats just suck the life out of me. I met my two roommates (including the somewhat mysterious one who moved in back in June but has not spent a ton of tine at the apartment yet) at a restaurant patio for tiki drinks and fried chicken sandwiches. It was really nice to actually all hang out together and chat. We got back home and the conversation continued, but I had to actually excuse myself to go to bed because I was FADING SO HARD. Thanks, squats. I passed out immediately once I got into bed. Day 23.6 I got back out to the gym without too much hassle. This workout was way easier, as it was mostly accessories I've been neglecting. Going HAM on Wednesday's deadlifts means there isn't a second deadlift day. Bench: 2 x 6 x 135#, 4 x 5 x 145# Single leg RDL: 4 x 10 x 65# KB Pull-ups: 4 x 5 DB rows: 4 x 12 x 40# Tricep dips: 4 x 20 Our beach plans got cancelled because my friend had to run a bunch of errands (he's buying property and it's been a real bear). I spent the evening at a NH cookout with a giant bonfire and fireworks, and I met my lifting bff's new girlfriend who seems very cool. It was a very silly night, but I had fun. I got back in time for a virtual bad movie night with the boys -- we watched Money Plane -- insane but enjoyable. After, we tried to watch Crypto but it was sooooo boring that we gave up. I went to bed pretty dang late. 🤷♀️ Day 23.7 I was a bit slow to riseeee, but I met BB for breakfast sandwiches and walks around more parks. I couldn't hang too long because I had reserved the rest of my day to hang with my BFF who I haven't been able to catch up with 1:1 for a whiiiile. We went beach in the late afternoon. After an hour or two, the skies took a TURN: We sat at a local oyster farm's raw bar and the storm miraculously went around us for the next 1-2 hours, so we just had a spectacular view of the lightning while we ate oysters, striped bass ceviche, and drank. On the way home, we got soft serve and fries and stood outside the bar's pick-up window watching Family Feud through the glass with the woman who was working. It was... very wholesome and funny. VERY GOOD SUNDAY. This one was 3.5 miles and ~9:10 pace. It was really humid, but didn't feel so bad even though my calves were a little sore from the run on the weekend. I'm remembering that these short runs aren't so hard to fit into the day, so I just need to like buck up and do 'em. After, my jog I went to Monday brunch (at night) with QP at my favorite bar -- this is something they usually do during the day but obviously there isn't a ton of demand for actual brunch right now (and it's out in a little parking lot and it's hot as heck, so better for everyone not to be running it during the day). I ate waaay too much -- big housemade pizza bagel with bacon and sausage, fried chicken sandwich, some biscuits and gravy... ❤️ I was very glad for the ~30 minute walk back home to try to digest some. Lift: 0/3 Bike: 0/1 Run carefully: 1/2 Green spaces: 0/1 Get in the water: 0/1 Read 30 minutes: 1/7 days This week I'm going to lift Tuesday + Wednesday + Friday + Saturday, most likely. I might go to a gymnastics practice on Thursday if our lapsed insurance situation gets resolved. Then, I'm going to Portland over the weekend, which will definitely involve green spaces and water. And I'll bring running shoes for a jog on Sunday! And uhhh, figure out some destination to bike to during the week?
