Stop stop, I can't deal with more things to dislike about the USA, I like too many of the people living there and it's making my head hurt 😘

Sorry, sorry, I will stop! :D

The setting and taking out of my mirena was not such a big deal for me, but who knows what it'll be like after child birth.

Logic suggests that after giving birth, an IUD is even less of a big deal, but I don't exactly have any basis of comparison for that

I like that they moved birth control consults and care to midwives in NL, it's a pretty logical thing to discuss at your post partum checkups.. and I imagine they get a lot more practice than a GP making people feel comfortable in this area and working around the cervix. A gynaecologist would make sense also, but believe it or not, I've never seen one in my life so I'd rather go to someone I know.

That makes perfect sense, every part of it.

My GP offers IUD placement at their clinic, but I prefer my gynecologist since she's awesome and makes the process as painless and quick as possible. Probably because of having a lot of practice not only working in that area. I have no qualms about paying a little bit extra to see a specialist about one of the most sensitive and fragile parts of my body. I want a true exert to answer my questions and keep an eye on those pieces of me.

Being sick with two kids really sucks, especially if your partner then needs to take over all of your work and your mom can’t help out because 2020... so the best that can be said for friday and saturday is that we got through them.

Sunday I felt much better and took the kids for a longer hike+picknick. We also had pancakes (and salad) for dinner. Jaap was home in time to help put the kids in bed so I got some actual time on my own. Which I spend reading ofcourse, true to form. I also did a couple sets of push-up negatives, bodyweight squats and lunges- just to help prevent DOMS-doom.

Sad depressing thoughts behind this tag

it’s been quite a week as far as mental health goes- and I feel terrible to be complaining about it, because it’s caused by you know, all these fires... the forest fires and the refugee camp fire.. how nice that I can just have some uncomfortable feelings about it instead of, you know.. having actual problems because of it.

There were also some problems in my own slice of life, my baby sisters relationship ended and she now needs a new home and my mom has financial problems that we just can’t seem to fix for her and my other sisters husband is doing terribly and I could go on for a bit, but they’re... mundane problems- that I can actually play a positive impactful role in dealing with. Not like.. I don’t know, donating money? Collect sleeping bags for the refugee children? Write angry letters to my government who has deigned to shelter a whole hundred minors who lost their parents? I’ll do it, but it feels useless and not at all impactful.

rehab thoughts behind this tag

I’ve found out that I can’t really engage my abs without also engaging my glutes. So I’ve been experimenting with that the last few weeks.. as soon as I try to relax my butt my abs will also lose about half of their tension.. but I think I’ve figured it out now, I was trying to relax my pelvic floor along with my glutes, but my pelvic floor is allowed to engage along with my abs.. I think.. will be practicing. I can do it, but only if I hold my breath, which is obviously not good enough.
It’s been so interesting if a bit exhausting to retrain my body and fix all these issues.

I've been too preoccupied with our countries news , I hadn't heard about the refugee camp fire. How very hard..They have already lost so much, and then to lose what little they had. Collecting sleeping bags seems like a good way to help

Getting through them is much better than the alternative. It's a win. What are you sick with? I hope it clears up quickly.

I have to admit, I sometimes feel so overwhelmed by world events outside my control that I've recently stopped reading the news regularly.

Slothgirl is also a nice name. Very traditional, feminine yet strong, easy to spell, can be shortened to the equally traditional and charming slthgrl.

Summary; I don't know jack shit.

LOL. Yeah. I certainly don't expect miracles. Maybe it'd even get worse if I started getting periods again. Is the idea of "knowing" (know what really?) worth the hassle - who knows? 🤷‍♀️I'll wait and see for now and let things progress naturally.

I know sympathy doesn't help, but sorry you feel crappy. I do think that limiting news is a good idea, maybe even to just once a week or so. If something really urgent comes up you'll find out through someone else.

I WANT MORE STUDIES DONE ON BIRTH CONTROL METHODS SO BADLYYYY. THERE IS SO LITTLE OUT THERE. IT IS VERY VERY AGGRAVATING.

Ahem.

Sorry you're hit with the triple whammy of sickness and personal/family woes AND world weariness.

Ah it's not always an issue.. but I have these hip issues ever since my first pregnancy that are definitely overuse related. And since you use your abs quite a lot... especially when you're breastfeeding- and I do that like 8-10 times a day for an average of 15 minutes so that's like.. 2 hours a day?

I also think that butt injury I had 3 months ago was probably from overuse- so not in exercise, but just in daily life.

And thank you :) you hadn't said- that's ❤️

She's quite proud!

Yes it's really... well.. I get angry when I think about it, because they shouldn't have even been there. They should have been helped, taken in etc.

At least they didn't lock the kids in cages and perform hysterectomies ???

That seems smart..

Probably just a cold.. I don't know- it wasn't too bad.. but you can't really do anything these days when you even have some minor sniffles right.

Sounds like the most sensible plan..

Ahh sympathy may help a little. I don't watch the news (I don't even have a tv) or read a newspaper, not even online.. but I do use social media and.. even if I didn't.. it is all news that gets discussed. Also limiting my exposure doesn't necessarily make me feel any better, only more useless? not that exposing myself is useful, but.. well you get the idea im sure.

It is very aggravating. But.. also kinda feels like a first world problem right now eh. At least we're not being forced into hysterectomies? yay.

Monday I definitely felt better but it wasn't very eventful since it's my day off. Spend a lot of time outdoors with the kids and did some hanging at the playground and some stretchy work.

Tuesday was a full work day- morning sessions, home in the afternoon and cooking dinner etc, then evening sessions. Did deadlifts in the morning (5x45kg, 5x55kg, 3x5x60kg) which felt solid and easy. Was hoping to do more training in the evening but didn't find the time... but it was a very nice work day, one of those days that people randomly come up to me and say the bestest things about the gym;

one girl who just had her baby also went to a class run by a physical therapist but said that she got more useful info and personal guidance during my class, a new young guy attending our body control classes who was all "only 8 weeks and I don't have these little pains anymore and look how much I can already do and look at my shoulders and it's so much fun and everybody is so nice and I look forward to training now" and a lady who couldn't move her arms over her head and had 1 rehab session with Jaap at the beginning of august and is now doing skin the cats and things like that- and she told about how she got home after her first session and her husband said he hadn't seen her look so happy in months.. these things are balm for my soul y'all.

Wednesday I hadn't slept much at all the night before, running on maybe 3 hours.. not the baby's fault, just a very bad insomnia night. But we sort of muddled through and Jaap calmed my panic and existential terror down as much as possible. I made brownies and pork with baked apples and broccoli with as large a stem as I can manage because Emma likes those and then she's all "look dad how mom cut the broccoli especially for me!" all excited and that's terribly cute.

Had a short evening work session, did some paper work and 4 rounds of 500 meter rows and 6 goblet squats with 12kg. Light, but full depth for the first time since butt injury.

heard that on the news. Some other witnesses say that is not true. I'm praying that they thoroughly investigate and find the truth, and  if true people land in jail.

Disclaimer: In my recent studies I only had one lecture on pelvic floor -- the full elective is currently restricted to females only because of the internal exam portion in the lab and such.  I'm wondering if you had diastasis recti with your first or second pregnancy?  I know that can cause some neural overlapping of the motor fibers between the normally-separated abdominal and pelvic floor motor units.  Also, my wife has had some challenges with her SIJ after the second pregnancy which caused her pretty sharp pains for the first few steps after rising from the floor.  I'm able to reset it from time to time, and then if she does a solid few sets of bridges it will be better until she slacks off and stops doing the bridges lol.

Exactly, unfortunately.

Especially when you consider the other atrocities that have been going on at ICE, it's hardly even surprising something like this comes up. Did you listen to that podcast about it that won a Pulitzer Prize beginning of this year I think? from 'that American life'

Yea I had a lingering DR after my first pregnancy (you always have it during a pregnancy) but I have no gap right now and a well functioning linea alba, so I don't think that's a factor now. Your wife's issues are familiar though! I had that during both pregnancies, it always felt so nice when my partner reset it :D

What I have right now is .. well it's a little complicated so I don't know exactly, but definitely some issues with overuse, bad habits of creating tension all the time when it isn't needed. A bit like how your neck can get ruined sitting in the wrong chair because of the tension that creates. And on one leg I have bad internal rotation and on the other leg I have bad external rotation- those are probably just symptoms, but I figured it wouldn't hurt anyway to also try to fix that while I try to relax a bit.

The illness tricked me into thinking it was gone.. or I caught something else.. but on thursday morning I woke up sneezing and coughing again. This time the baby wasn't spared and was also sneezing. It's apparently really hard to drink with a stuffed nose, so that gave us some trouble and cost us quite a bit of sleep. Needless to say, it was a waste of a day.

Friday was a little better, we all worked in the garden together and did some home maintenance, sorted through toys etc. We also made apple pie to drop off at the gym the next morning (it's a bit of a tradition to have something home baked on Saturday mornings after training, we didn't start it, it just sort of happened..).

Saturday we got tested, we went for a hike.. had a slow day.. cleaned up a bit more.. had some good chats with Jaap about everything that's going on, which was really nice.

Still sneezing but I'm feeling alrightish, so I hope we get the test results tomorrow (which I assume will be negatives) and I can get out of this cage and go do some more lifting and rowing.

it's so funny, since the lockdown we have a group chat and now every Saturday afternoon it's "whose birthday is it next week?" and then wish lists of baked goods and then the person that brings something gets congratulations x) and someone said "it's such a coincidence that everybody's birthday falls on a Saturday!" x)

reminds me of another funny thing (sorry im in story telling mood apparently) but someone asked in the chat if they had left their water bottle at the gym, the reply was a photo with "this one?" and when he got a yes the next photo was of the water bottle on top of the climbing wall x) I dunno man, I nearly cried laughing. but maybe its not so funny if you don't know the people involved x)
