You had a bad infection” I had a bad reaction to the steroids so I stopped them and will be starting new steroids tomorrow. These ones usually work really well for me so I’m happy with that.. I will be isolated from friends and family while on steroids because of the lowered immunity response, and need to rest and just heal up. Dad is great now. He and mom are talking a lot, and today they went for a drive with the sun roof open and bought beer. He also cooked an omelet and it was delicious. So it’s all good for now, and I just wanted you to know because sometimes I forget to talk about how things end well after troubles 💙💙 6 Quote Link to comment

Snarkyfishguts
I saw this thread on Twitter and found it comforting. Its about ten or eleven tweets long, but it talks about hitting this wall that so many of us have seemed to hit this month. Snarkyfishguts
Y'all... This challenge has unraveled and I'm okay with that? I feel like I started out tripping and never really got my feet under me. And it's been a good personal growth experience to just have everything go wrong and not be able to put a positive spin on it. No one was mean to me. The world is still turning. Nothing went according to plan and yet nothing horrible has happened as a result. That's not so bad. 6 Quote Link to comment

Snarkyfishguts
It's 4am, and I haven't slept for a couple hours because steroids. Also, I'm turning 40 in november. Which is awesome. I love cake. But I keep thinking "When I turn 60, what will I wish I had done in the twenty years between now and then?" I used to know, I totally had a plan. But now, I'm kinda just unsure and in this uncomfortable transition state. And you think in a transition state, you want to know where your foot is going to land, but I don't know, and I think I need to decide soon before I fall over. I'm going to go work on this right now. I'm not sleeping anyway, and I think I'll feel better after I write it out. 5 Quote Link to comment

Just remember that people follow plans, even if they are horrible and end up screwing up regardless so although there is an unknown factor, it doesn't *really* make much of a difference. You can have the best laid plans and things can still get massively derailed. *hugs* 1 Quote Link to comment

That was the LAST twenty years. The next twenty are going to be awesome. or ELSE (makes punching motions) I'll just deal with those setbacks. Having lived life with a plan and having things go to shit, vs not having plans and things going to shit, it is so much better to have plans. That's my opinion! 2 Quote Link to comment
Snarkyfishguts
I'm completely done with all medications related to the endodontic procedure from the 15th! YAY!!!!!!! Mom and I got flu shots today. I was a little concerned about getting a flu shot right after finishing steroids, but I checked online and a lot of health pages were like "You totally can get a flu shot" It's good to get it out of the way. I haven't made any major life decisions or plans by the way. I have some ideas, but frankly, I'm really tired from not sleeping a lot, and I also wonder if I need a major change in my life, or I just feel like I do because the world is sad and my dad is blind and I'm looking for a distraction. And then I think "I haven't slept, I can't get too deep in this without wanting to cry face first into a pint of ice cream. So I will just leave it.... over there... just for a few more days. 5 Quote Link to comment

Snarkyfishguts
Weigh day was 254.8. I lost five pounds last week. Part of it was steroids and part of it was a major change in my eating habits. I’m really happy with this. Glitter for everyone! 4 Quote Link to comment

Habit-wise, I eat sitting down at the table and I eat a LOT slower. I had to eat slow with the tooth pain, and now I just do it. This was a big change for me. I eat a lot less this way, and feel really satisfied at the end of a meal because I wasn’t distracted or just rushing through it. In regards to what I eat, I am drinking probably twice the water I used to, I was definitely not drinking enough before. I eat more eggs and dairy because they were soft proteins but now I like them because they are less salty and more filling than eating a sandwich. Half of my diet is fruits and vegetables now. things I eat less of are cold cuts, sandwiches, and pasta, candy. and salty snacks. I also have less caffeine and alcohol, just because it didn’t react well with the steroids. I still eat cookies and bread, because I’m not dead I figured steroids are an anti-inflammatory and my body reacted pretty well to the second set, so maybe I should be eating in a way that supports reducing inflammation. But the test is, will I keep losing weight now that I’m not taking steroids? I think so. We’ll find out next Friday! 5 Quote Link to comment
