Ranger Hal Continues Pull-Ups and More

Recommended Posts

Ugh. Puzzles are so dangerous. I did get my pull-up workout done, but then I allowed myself to be distracted by the puzzle and then it was after midnight. I mean, puzzles are awesome, but not when I need to do other things. Maybe this is why we usually did 1000+ piece puzzles on vacation when I was growing up.

No workout tonight. My knees have been bothering me for the last few days. Probably overuse from last weekend. I finally remembered today that I have knee wrap things from when this was an issue before. They should help, but I'm taking a night off as well.

I'm going to sleep in tomorrow!

Today was a relaxed day. I slept in and then read my favorite parts of a book. Had pumpkin pie for breakfast...err...lunch. In the afternoon, I did my exercise things. I started some beans soaking so I can make chili tomorrow (assuming I go to the grocery store to get the required veggies). Which reminds me, I need to pull the meat out of the freezer.

Did the chin-up challenge benchmark again. I'm still at Level 10 which is the highest without actually being able to do a pull-up. I think I did get a little higher in my pull-up attempt than last time, but it was something like 60% of the way up vs. 50% last time. Progress is so slow...I guess we'll see where I'm at in another 3 weeks.

I made the chili. It's a white chili (chicken and white beans) with red peppers in it, so it's kind of pretty! I think I like it. It wasn't done cooking until 10:30 pm, so I was just going to have a tiny bowl to see how it tasted. I'm now eating my second tiny bowl and thinking about going back for a third!

Yep, totally went back for thirds. I'm getting full now though, so no fourths!

This is the end of the challenge. I feel good about the pull-up work I've done. There are two more weeks of workouts and then we'll see if I can finally get that pull-up or if it will take another round of workouts. I also feel good about the hike/ruck stuff. Between those and the pull-ups, I was getting in workouts 5-6 days a week! I don't know if that's sustainable as things (hopefully) open up more and I do more stuff in the evenings, but for now, it's good.

For cleaning, I got lots of little things done. I'm particularly proud of myself for going after all those spider webs. There are still a few I need to clear out, mostly in the kitchen, but I made great progress! I'm also happy about getting the heaters cleaned. That involved turning off the power and disassembling them, so it was one of the bigger cleaning projects I tackled.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the things I was doing this challenge. I will probably continue most of them next time.

Well, I was kind of thinking that maybe I would just continue all the same things into next challenge. But now, I'm wondering if I should make some changes. It would be kind of awesome to do some things in the morning instead of everything in the evening. But then I'd have to get up early enough to do things, instead of doing the bare minimum to get me out the door for work. And over this week and next, I'm looking at 3+ days a week where I have to leave earlier than usual for work which would make that harder. And maybe I could do a themed challenge? (Not saying my idea in case it doesn't work out.) Only that would take a bunch of thinking and that's not going to happen overnight. So it appears that I'm not ready to post a new challenge yet. I might just continue to post here for "Week 6" so that I keep doing the things until I work out my new challenge.

I often take this week to plan out my challenge.

Woohoo! Toothbrushing win! It has probably been almost a year since my last dentist appointment, first because my appointment was cancelled early in Covid when the dentist was closed and then because I didn't call them back when they reopened because I sometimes have issues with phone calls. Anyway, a few weeks ago, I finally scheduled an appointment, and around that time I also started brushing my teeth a bit longer using the counting pattern I have developed for Covid-times hand washing (yeah, before Covid, my hand washing was sub-standard). Today at my appointment, when they were measuring my gums, my numbers (which had slowly been getting worse) were improved everywhere! Plus the dental hygienist (she was new to the office) was very impressed with my teeth! :D

Yes, I remember .Yay for getting it done. And speaking of recycling adventures. My husband gave himself a nice cut on the finger trying to clean out the tuna can so he could recycle it.I have almost done the same on the sharp edges. We decided we're goingrogue and throwing them in the garbage from now on😀

I feel like I'm really making progress with the pull-ups. I can jump up to the top position (instead of using a chair to get up there) and do a top hold or pull-up negative and it feels strong. I'm looking forward to trying for an actual pull-up at the end of the session in a bit over a week.

Not so much progress on figuring out my next challenge...
