Hold Fast: Tanktimus Sticks to What is Working

I never had a trampoline as a kid and I always wanted one. My family couldn't afford it. Then again, I was always scared of falling off and hurting myself. I was extremely cautious as a kid. I outgrew that in my teenage years.

I was also extremely cautious, but for whatever reason trampolines never scared me.

I don't think ginger beer is a mixed drink, or are you saying you use ginger beer in drink mixes?

A dark and stormy is ginger beer with dark rum and lime (ideally floating the rum on top of the ginger beer to make it pretty). It's particularly popular in Bermuda. It's kind of a tropical drink, but also a warming one that's nice to drink in colder weather in other parts of the world.

Exercise trampolines are small and short.  Once upon a time I had one, and I’m pretty sure the kiddos used it more than I ever did..  Godd up to age 5.....ish.

Sounds interesting. I'm not a huge fan of ginger beer or dark rum, but I might try a dark and stormy some time.

That might be an option later on.

Today is a good day. I did the NF KB workout (2 full rounds) before work, and then got La Madeline on the way home from work. We gave little bit a bath then I got to put her to bed. This is her in her PJs with her hair combed back. Since I deleted imgur off of my phone it's harder to upload photos, so you'll have to settle for a sharable link to google photos.

My favorite is a Gunner, which is a mix of ginger ale, ginger beer and a spice mix for additional flavor.  I believe it is traditionally a commonwealth only beverage, particularly popular in Hong Kong

Spice as in allspice? That might intrigue me.

Today is a good day. I did the NF beginner mobility in the morning. I had little bit all to myself today and we had a blast. After lunch I took her outside to play in the back yard, and from there straight to a park with a playground, and then we walked for a mile. Well, I walked and she napped in the stroller, but I did two fitness things today! I also cleaned the kitchen. Dinner was simple and good. I cooked some chopped chicken thighs with salt, pepper, white wine vinegar and poultry seasoning. When it was almost done I drained most of the liquid and then added some minced garlic and cooked a little longer. Then I wilted in some spinach. Next I added some butternut squash pasta sauce and some cotija cheese. I served it over whole grain penne pasta and added some shredded parmesan. It was very good and used up very little willpower to make. Little Bit went down slightly early due to her nap in the stroller being the only one she got all day, and not very long.

Thank you.

Today is a good day. I was tired for most of it. I felt worn out, like I do when the meds kick in after a bad headache. I did have a mild headache later in the day, but ibuprofen alone killed it as it was merely a tension headache. I didn't cook or fitness, but did enjoy little bit's company. She took a two hour nap after lunch, which let me also take a much needed nap. We had an estimator from a fencing company come out to measure the fence. The neighbor just had their's done and it looks great, so we asked the same company to estimate a fence of the same type for our property. The fence is original to the house (late 80s) and it's lasted well, but it's time. In fact, on the side opposite of the neighbor in question the fence is leaning on our shed. We are hoping we can dip into savings; we won't go into debt for this.

We had our fence done after a windstorm knocked ours down. We got a few quotes. We didn't go with the most expensive, but went with the second most expensive... they had the best detail in their proposal and we are really glad we went with them. It is a good solid fence and they did what they said they would.

Here in California, all fences are made of redwood (obviously.) What are they typically made of in Texas?

Cedar is a popular option, though it depends on who put the fence up. You still see a lot of chain link in less affluent areas.

Today is a good day. I did the NF Prime Mobility challenge workout for today. The couch stretches feel like they are making a difference, and today I was able to go slightly deeper. When my MIL got to the house I went and put gas in my truck and bought salt for the water softener. The nice thing is that the office for the water softener company is just down the road from my house (google maps says a mile but it feels closer), the salt bags are sturdier than what you buy at the grocery store, the cost is about the same, and they load the bags in my truck for me. I'll get the salt there from now on. I cooked lunch after deciding not to and then changing my mind. I'm glad I did. I cooked some chicken thighs (chopped) in avocado oil with salt, pepper, and white wine vinegar. When it was almost done I added a packet of ranch dressing mix and then some panko bread crumbs and mixed it in. After a bit I added some shredded parmesan. On the side I heated a couple of bags of brown rice and mixed it with a couple of bags of broccoli florets, along with a can of cream of chicken soup and some shredded parmesan. It was very good. I served the chicken on top of the rice and broccoli and topped it with (wait for it) more parmesan.

“I've always believed that failure is non-existent. What is failure? You go to the end of the season, then you lose the Super Bowl. Is that failing? To most people, maybe. The spices are apparently bitters (which is awesome...I have a bottle sitting around collecting dust. I'll give it a try!

The only time I've ever had bitters is when a buddy who is super into old fashioneds makes one for me.

Thanks. I cooked at lunch at went for work, leaving food behind for Sra. Tanque and Little Bit. Apparently they both really liked it. According to Sra. Tanque Little bit was "really digging in."

I thought you'd approve.

Today is a day. I was very tired all morning and afternoon. I took the NF Mobility Benchmark test, so some time in squat and forward fold, but that's it. I would have preferred more than one KB session this week, but instead of bemoan what could have been I celebrate what was. I got a haircut this morning also. Lunch was good. I browned a couple of pork tenderloins seasoned with salt, pepper, and mustard powder in a cast iron skillet with avocado oil and shoved that in the oven at 440 degrees for 18 minutes (Recipe called for 425 at 15, but I know my oven) and it came out perfect. While it was cooking I sauteed some sliced carrots and sliced shallot in avocado oil with salt, pepper, red wine vinegar and mustard for about 10 minutes then added some spinach to wilt. After that I let the tenderloin rest before cutting and made a pan sauce. I deglazed the cast iron skillet with 1/3 c apple cider vinegar then added 2 tbsp maple syrup and 2 tbsp mustard and let it cook. Right before it was done I added some chopped fresh sage. It was an excellent pan sauce for the pork. I heated a frozen "Country Loaf" to serve with the meal.
