But I could see jazz in it too.

 

A girl I knew in high school could do such a classy sultry/smooth jazz performance, whew. I almost saw a fancy gown and black and white when she sang. And of course the band was really good too, all high schoolers. 

 

ohhh now I remembered the Big Band that was with people a couple years older than me. They were so goood. I wonder if I can find them on YT.

 

Anyway, very gentle imagery.

Ten Thousand Things:

Went to the post office and picked up mail (Thank you, @Tanktimus the Encourager !), picked up milk (delivery day was Wednesday, but I've been dragging), sent visitation suggestions to my daughter's dad and the communication therapist, took laundry off the rack and folded it, and .  . . Not much else. Even watching Netflix was beyond me today, so I took a lovely long hot bath and enjoyed Monument Valley 2 (I rarely play games).

 

Two series editors are late, and I don't have it in me to pester them. The series I developed with new assistant editors launched yesterday, and I love it. I met with a fellow SOPHIA officer to hash out what he sees as the organization's mission and what the officers' roles are in that, and it was a blast -- for starters, we were of a mind about the mission, and both believe that the best thing we can do to further the cause is to support our executive director by taking on some of the functions he has been filling for the last five years. Then we identified some grants and some other development brainstorming, and we'll be getting together again in a couple weeks to divvy up next steps. I think we'll probably meet every couple weeks for the coming several months as we turn some of the ideas into reality.

 

I wrote some on the Memoir today, which is probably why I now feel so spaced-out and emotionally weird. 

 

The apathy I feel toward school projects this term is vast, exceeded only by the apathy for the editing work (this doesn't bode well -- a day or two is fine, but we're going on a week; I know I'm sick and stuff, but sustained apathy is always the event horizon for depression for me, so thanks for listening; you know this is my diary, right?. ❤️ ) Seriously, tho; having to marshall the forces to care.

 

If I haven't mentioned it yet , Queen's Gambit is really well done. I finished Handmaid's Tale season 2 yesterday, and did some knitting, but don't know if I want to take on another season of something yet. The Hummingbird Project was very good, and I have Yes, God Yes in my Netflix queue, just in front of Black 47.

Seriously disturbing dreams last night _ woke up with my heart pounding and glad that I was not, in fact, buried under a landslide from an earthquake (while at a university event where a bunch of uninvited people were behaving badly).

 

Woke up later and did some Things:

*Sent notification of payment to Kentucky to lift the hold for registration for PhD classes next term

*Cleaned the bathroom while on hold with UPS to mark a package undeliverable (wrong address)

*Did editing work for the Blog

*Looked over notes for The Republic Book 6

*Paid bills and out them in the mailbox

*Confirmed moving help for the storage unit this weekend

 

And now I'm exhausted again.

Friends, I did a few more Things:

*Navigated several different departmental handoffs, and I'm now officially enrolled for Spring Term. Let the PhD begin! Two of the classes are waitlisted.

*Updated a few entries on the 2020 page and created the 2021 page -- how is this even real?

*Made some more notes about the sophists for Book 6 (but did I write the paper yet? Friends, I did not.)

 

My brain is all woozy now.
