Hey all, 8am here. Listening to Joni Mitchell, drinking tea. 

 

Need to get a new bulb as my main side light has gone, damnnnn. Will sort it tomorrow. 

 

This morning, I am going to Chris's to go through all the submissions we got for our open call, and pick 6 artists. Then work on the tutorial a bit more....

 

Then watch the football!! Everton play Manchester United (Chris supports them) so we will be fighting :P hahahah

 

Will have a few beers too. I am looking forward to relaxing a bit! Been a great busy week of hard work.

Hey guys

 

3.30pm here, already its dark out!! mad. 

 

Last night i drank way too much tbh...stupid. Oh well. Just trying to not berate myself so much. Its done, i had a nice time, move on. 

 

At the moment im drinking tea, and have the football on. Decent game. 

 

No clue what to eat tonight, barely got anything in ... and shops are shuting in 30 mins and cba going out. 

 

Ugh

 

Plus i have barely any money, but my bills are paid at least. And i get some money in 10 days. SO need to be careful with what i spend until then. 

 

Feel a bit down tbh today. Prob the booze. Just feel i need to sort my life out. 

 

Anyway im complaining for no reason haha xx

Mm, booze can make us feel pretty crap the following day. Shame it's a gloomy day. It was so bright and autumnal here I think it would have cheered me up even if my music player's shuffle was stuck on Elliott Smith. But there are days like that. Plans for tomorrow to get you off to a good start?

For sure yes, think it does affect me. 

 

Rained all day here!!

 

Lots of work to do....written my plans for the week. Tomorrow includes picking up some postcards i have had printed, stew some apples, plan some meals, email artists who have been chosen for the workshops and finish the video tutorial!

 

Would like to plan exercise too....even if it feels a bit impossible atm x

Yes i think i defo need to just pick a time to do something. Otherwise it gets later and later and eventually im too exhausted from work, to do anything.

Morning all. 7.30am here, cold cold cold. and rainy and dark. 

 

Been doing some work, started an hour ago...choosing the artists from all the submissions I got for a video workshop i am doing. 

 

Today i need to finish the workshop tutorial and send it to the selected artists. I should do that this morning, as its quiet. 

 

Got quite a bit to do really...

 

- Take medication

- Finish video tutorial

- Announce chosen artists

- Send email to artists with all info

- Go to the shops for bits (inc milk, cereal, potatoes, salmon, chicken)

- Get InDesign and sort zine layouts

- Top up the gas 

- Drive to printers to pick up the postcards i had made

- Work on Live Work fund

- Cook healthy homemade food

- Have a bath

 

Feels like a lot but totally fine, just need to get on with it. I may get the studio lease to sign as well today, so will sort that. Still no money from the grant, annoyingly but should be in by next week (i bloody hope haha) 

 

Skint as anything right now. 

 

And want to move to the studio...

Hey all. 6pm here. Pitch black outside. Eerily quiet as well! 

 

Looking at my list, not done it all.....

Will sort the gas out tomorrow - hoping i have enough on there to have a bath in a bit. If not, ill have to go out and top up :(

 

I am exhausted. Seriously so tired. I can barely keep my eyes open. I know its 6pm but im thinking of having a 40 min nap. And then doing some work from 7 pm - 9pm , then a bath then bed. 

 

Its because Adam is 5 hours behind me, so I tend to work later due to him being in middle of the day over there. We have two meetings (thursday and a presentation on Friday so we are working on that...

 

Bit anxious about the presentation tbh!

 

Anyway...exercise didnt happen. Like i said earlier, seems kinda impossible to fit it in - which is bullshit. People work more than i do and fit it in. Get up earlier or something. I need to do something about it though, im getting more unfit, more ugly. Ughhhhhhhhh

Hey all, didn’t nap but did cry. And also my mum called and we had a 40 mins chat. 
 

it helped a bit. Think I might pop back for the night tmoro. In the evening....

 

I feel really overwhelmed and like there are not enough hours in the days at the moment :( I’m missing dad and feel like I’m not grieving correctly. 
 

and plus I have such intense self hating thoughts pretty constantly. It’s all a bad mix at the mo. 
 

I NEED to incorporate exercise into my routine. Even if that’s 30 mins at lunch time or 30 mins before I start working in the morning.... it needs to get done. 
 

I NEED to prep lunches so I’m eating something healthy and tasty in the day.

 

I NEED to think about prepping evening meals too if I’m going to be too tired to cook.

 

soon I will be going to the studio each day... so coming home I NEED to ensure I’m not working like crazy into the night. 
 

I NEED to ensure I relax, read more, watch films etc

 

separating my work and home life should help with this relaxing times I hope. 
 

I can’t keep grinding this way living life like this. I don’t want to hate myself but so much of that is self image. 
 

I can do better and I need to start now.

Im just writing about habits and morst of my research shows that Its good to make the changes really small. 30 Minutes is maybe to big a step. How about 5 minutes of movement to begin with: just one favorite song you dance to? 

I wish I could show you how I look at you and what I see. You are a wonderful person! the thoughts are like a bad dream that keeps you frightened...

 

Anyway, I hope you can start with tiny steps today... and give yourself credit for all the things you do for your wonderful work..!

Hello FL. thanks a lot for this, good idea actually. I can say to myself, ok, go for 5 mins movement. If i START ill no doubt do MORE....

 

I ordered an A3 sketchbook so i can map out each day. I have a small A5 notepad that i use at the moment, but its so small so i just jot down a bit like i do in here. With the bigger book i can add in TIMES to do things, which i hope can start to build habits. 

 

So this morning (its almost 1pm now btw) ive spend time writing and respnding to emails...signing the lease for the studio...organising to pick up the keys and listening to an incredible podcast.

Do you guys know Pussy Riot? The feminism political activists from Russia? Nadya Tolokonnikova is the founder, was in prison for two years for her activism...got out in 2014, an artist, and one hell of an inspiration. WOW 

 

Really was totally transfixed throughout the podcast. Makes me want to be more radical and push more boundaries in my work. 

 

I also got this book through the post: https://www.versobooks.com/books/3631-girls-against-god which i CAN NOT wait to read. Another bit of inspiration for my work i hope. 

 

Anyway. I decided to go to mums this eve for the night. Will set off back in an hour or so, mum is at work, so i will light the fire, prep dinner, walk the dogs and work until she gets home. Then we can hang out and relax. 

 

Back to Manchester tmoro morning though as i have two meetings.

Here i am... 4.15pm now, getting dark. Took dogs out for a quick 20 mins for them to have a wee  and run a bit. But its freezing. We are back and the fire is roaring, im listening to Lana Del Rey, i feel better and calmer today.

We had dinner, i made cheese cauliflower and carrots and potatoes. Mum is just in the bath and i am checking some football news. Still thinking of my plans....i should be able to start having days in the studio from the weekend. (or more likely Monday i guess - i should have days off!!) 

 

We pick the keys up Thursday morning. Then will bring a couple of old desks into there, 'for now' and then sketch out our ideas for the custom made desk space :D hoping that can be made very soon so we can get all settled in by the end of the month but unsure what the technicians work load will be like. 

 

Tomorrow i have  a lot to plan in prep for meetings on Thursday (gallery in New York) and then a presentation for an organisation in New York which i am kinda anxious about tbh. 

 

Trying not to be though. No point, it will be fine. 

 

I will walk the dogs before I drive home, tmoro morning. Will likely be 30 mins walk as dont have time to take them far/mega long. 

 

I will spend some time looking at making a time line , in the afternoon, for the week ahead (with timed slots) and try to start building proper routine. I think it would be good to be at the studio for 10.30/11am in the week. And have a short walk before i drive there. Because it will be dark by time i return home. I will need to prep my lunch, and also be good to have dinner prepped too tbh on some days. Ill likely work till 6/7pm then drive home.... but will obviously test these hours out from next week. (i dont want to leave at 5pm due to hitting traffic!!) 

 

So home for 7/7.30pm, dinner, then read or watch a film or relax, chat to friends etc....that would be the aim!! NOT come home and work!!!!! Then sleep and do it all again the next day :P 

 

Of course, life as an artist is very unpredictable, there are events, setting up of shows, meetings at weird times due to time zones. etc so it cant all be regimented. But i will do my best to keep things moving along. 

 

Will read my book a bit now i think xx
