KB Girl
Wednesday Very little sleep again. Managed to get through the morning and then Jaap and Emma went gardening and I had a glorious 2 hour nap with the baby. Made me feel loads better. Did some laundry, tidied up lots of toy things and put away too small kids clothes, made dinner (mushroom soup and little goat cheese + fig tarts), helped put the kids in bed and then went to work. This used to be just couple hours of open gym for me so I could write programs and do my own training, but we added another ladies strength class. It was apparently a good idea because it was 100% filled (max 8). Also had two new ladies who signed up, which is good for the financial side of things. Didn't have much time for my own training though, only twenty minutes, but gotta make do. (scaled) pushups 5x5 I do these with my hands elevated on a bar in the squat rack (5.2), slowly getting back to the floor.. step ups 5x3/3 or maybe I should call 'em pistol progressions, it's just really controlled both ways, no momentum ring rows 3x5 paused goblet squats with 8kg 3x3 3 sec pauses at 3 points up and down, dunno why I torture myself so, but it took less time than loading a bar I wasn't even going to update because it was quite late by the time I got back home.... but the baby was wide awake so I'm just sitting here with my laptop on her play mat. She's playing with her big sisters dinosaurs. Hopefully she'll get tired soon because I sure am. Story time Bed time with the three year old was a struggle for a while. She would stall and be uncooperative. It wouldn't have been such an issue if we hadn't been really tired thanks to her new little sister and short on patience, but alas. We tried a natural consequence- if she didn't cooperate we would not have time to read a chapter from her book. This was very effective for about a week. Then she started pushing our buttons again and we would warn her and she'd do it again but quickly say sorry or 'one more chance please'! So we would go back to reading just 2 pages.. and one more warning or we'd only have time for one page.. This stopped when one evening she had been warned three time, she'd 'lost' even that last page and she started crying and begging. Jaap picked her up and hugged her and carried her to the bedroom. She asked again "will you read to me now?" and Jaap said no. Then she said "but I'm crying" - as if in her experience that meant she would get that story anyway. A big wake up call for us. We found our patience for bed time again. It helped to expect it to take more time than we would like. It helped to reframe it into a chance to spend one on one time with our eldest. It helped to talk about the day and what the next day would bring. When we found the patience to listen to that one thing she very urgently had to tell us instead of opening her mouth for tooth brushing - it actually ended up taking a lot less time and it is far more enjoyable for all involved. My best friend told me a similar story of her three year old who wanted to take a lego piece upstairs. My friend told her she wasn't allowed, but that cheeky little red head turned around on the stairs and said "well, if I whine long enough you will let me anyway". Interesting, I would not have expected that. It's from an old urban legend that says to tell if spaghetti is done you take a strand out of the pot and throw it on the wall. If it sticks to the wall, it's done. (In fact, it may have been from Golden Girls, one of Sophia's stories from Sicily). Throwing spaghetti on the wall to see what sticks means you kind of make it up as you go along, and when you find something that works, you stick with it till it doesn't. 2 Quote Current Challenge "By the Most-Righteous-and-Blessed Beard of Sir Tanktimus the Encourager!" - Jarl Rurik Harrgath Link to comment

I do agree that you can teach cats to a certain extent. We have learned our cat that she's not allowed to sit on the keyboard, is not allowed on the countertop when we're in the same room, and she's not allowed to clean out my oatmeal bowl when I'm within touching distance. Our other cat is easier to train that she's not allowed certain things. I can also call one of them for yogatime together, and the other for cuddling on the couch in the morning . 8 hours ago, KB Girl said: Hide contents all the warriors are kind of miffed because they are not able to lift lockdown is cramping our style we must go the extra mile and see kettlebells as a wondrous gift 8 hours ago, Mirrodin said: Reveal hidden contents all the warriors are kind of miffed because they are not able to lift So here is a poem We stay in our home and see kettlebells as a wondrous gift It's so cute that you guys are writing poems for each other over here . KB Girl
Friday I had a little bit of energy, folded quite a bit of laundry, dusted the big bedroom and tackled the mess in Emma’s room. Vacuumed the entire house, we have a cordless vacuum, it’s brilliant. Crashed after that, had a nap with the baby, Jaap made dinner, it was good. Fell down a rabbit hole of watching houses on the market, couldn’t sleep after.. by the time I could the baby was awake.. so... Saturday was an awful day, luckily my work appointments were all cancelled anyway due to being sick/ awaiting text results. And the 3yo was at my moms as she is every Saturday. So I kept the baby alive. She bit me with her brand new set of front teeth, which hurt really bad and then she wouldn’t drink (probably because of the stuffed nose) and I was ugly hysterical crying when Jaap got home from work. Poor Jaap. He took the baby to my moms for dinner and I had a two hour nap. That made me feel like I could probably handle another night of waking every hour or so. Pray for me Its a good thing I said 5 days of story time, so I can skip today also.. tomorrow will hopefully be a better day. 6 Quote KB Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and an excellent coach 2023 goals tracker; cycling: 1047,7/5000km & reading to my kids: 58/365 days (updated may 1st) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment
