This seems like an awesome plan! Entirely in keeping with character, I feel.

One (or two) teaspoons of peanut - or cashew - butter has always gotten me through a tight spot of Am Hungry And Need Something Before Sleeptime, so I will always support this!

The problem I've been having is it's far too easy to 'generously eyeball' the peanut butter going into my evening protein cookies, and I love love love the flavor, so naturally the cookies need moar, so why not just add all the peanut butter right now?  When, in reality, you can barely taste it in them so it's more of a binding agent than anything.  One tbsp is tons.  I think the new plan is going to serve me well.

...craving protein cookies now!

I have a sweet tooth, I'll admit it's my primary weakness beyond wanting to EAT ALL THE THINGS in general, so harnessing that in a positive way has really been my Master Quest when it comes to nutritional alchemy.  Otherwise I drink A LOT of water to keep myself feeling full (especially during my fasting window through the day), so the struggle is just taming the evening when boredom and fatigue erode my nutritional willpower 🤣 so far so good.  It also helps having someone in the house who can help curtail the worst of my behavior (no more midnight McDonald's runs for no good reason lol, or eating all of the chocolate chips by hand).

I support using Healing Potions as a supplement rather than a meal.  Really need to get those whole food meals in if you're someone (like me) who struggles with satiety!

I'm intrigued about your protein cookies, as a fellow sweet-tooth. How do you make them? I suddenly got more experimenting time on my hands.

They're about as simple as it gets...

1/4 cup oats

1 tbsp peanut or almond butter

1 scoop protein of your choice (salted caramel or choc peanut butter are my favs)

Mix together before slowly adding about 1/8 cup water until mushy but still clings together.  Bake about 10 mins at 380F.

But I usually double the recipe depending on my remaining macros, and then I'll usually add craisins, dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips to taste.

Everything is very approximately due to the different consistency of protein powders - I never would have imagined there would be so much difference in their baking consistency; some take more water than others to reach the same desired texture.  Best to keep a watchful eye nearby and check every couple of minutes after the 5:00 mark, from my experience.  I've also made them with almond flour (wouldn't recommend, so bloody dry).

Well... I would want to be a berserker with a giant, two-handed hammer (i.e. a powerlifter with a massive, life-threatening deadlift) but that's not what I rolled. Alas.

Ha. I know come clarity and the rest of the album so well... from the good old days... but I've never watched many music videos. It's so weird to watch those sounds coming out of their faces. But reenacting that battle must have been great fun.

Also, if you know any viking styles for very long hair, that can be done reasonably easily upon oneself, I would like to read of them. I did find a video tutorial with real, historically researched styles (they're considerably less flashy that the tv shows, and there are no shaved undercuts), and learned how to do a rope braid.

Yessss I loooooooove learning new braids and braid styles. My hair is so long and baby fine I usually have to do some sort of combination of braids to work out in the summer or it just turns into a bird's nest, and there are so many good tutorials online to play with! I've found pinterest particularly helpful for this as you can look via picture instead of knowing the name of that specific type of braid - a lot of times the pictures will link to either a tutorial page or at least the name of it so you can then google it and find the right tutorial. I've found the majority of the best tutorials not written out specifically for historical viking style, but just the name of the braid (a lot of hair schools will have great ones) and then you combine them however you want and have fun with it!

I think I am more excited about braiding Rurik's hair than Rurik is about having braided hair hahahahaha

I rolled for a mage. You know, the kind where you have to constantly repack her inventory because you min-maxed her STR-INT. I would have loved to be a devastatingly willowy elf, but I'm an ordinary sized human (with, uh, just a hint of chonkiness) and chronic fatigue. I only started powerlifting a couple of years ago and I hit a plateau much earlier than I hoped. BUT I LOVE IT.

Yessss! I learned a rope braid, a four strand braid (I can't stop it from twisting, though), a waterfall braid, lace braid, a fishtail braid, and a very secure updo (most styles pull too much on my scalp...my hair is too heavy) where you do two french braids and then weave the free ends through each other on the back of your head. But... I'm also super lazy, so most days it's one fat plait down over one shoulder.

Aye, flippy hawk is me two years ago haha

Also, 'hint of chonkiness' folks unite!  That's my 1/8 orc side showing, or so I tell myself.  Easy to build, whether it's muscle of chonk (not easy to excavate abs tho).

So glad you've found an athletic pursuit you're so passionate about!  I really think that is the key factor so many folks are missing in finding an enjoyment in exercise.  I dabbled in powerlifting and weightlifting, did a few competitions in both, but the wear-and-tear alongside army mileage just added up to so many mornings with Rice Krispies knees and feeling 75.  I always loved LIFTING ALL THE THINGS but a shift to fluidity, flexibility, kettlebells and martial arts has really helped my body find some peace in my 'old age' 🤣

The Vikings might not have had time, but thankfully we have plenty.  One must needs stay hip and edge!

I love martial arts! Unfortunately I found the kicking in taekwondo was hard on my knees. But yeah, if you don't love the sport, it is hard to stick to. If you love it, it's hard not to... Love is the answer.

👍  For sure.

She's already tried French-braiding my hair but we aren't quite to that length yet.  I'm working on it, growing just as fast as I can!  I similarly dig any look that can easily bridge both fantasy and Sci-Fi realms, so I can either wear my assassin hood or a Mandalorian helmet.

(1) Regardless it's till a delight to have your hair done, I'm taking notes

(2) YESSSS, that's definitely a necessity for a hairstyle!

That so interesting!  CrossFit, powerlifting, and weightlifting (alongside old army mileage) were ruining my knees, and Muay Thai has saved them!  I rarely have joint gripes anymore.

Love really is the answer to so many aspects of life, but especially fitness activities when it's such an important passion.

Has Spezzy told you about the Texas Magic that is Whataburger yet?

She has, but honestly burgers are a pretty rare craving.  The only reason I reference McD's there is because it's one of the few 24hr stops in my city for unfortunately late night cravings, pretty much the only true food that isn't gas station potato wedges, and their fries are 🔥

Nuggets of wisdom are my specialty ;)

I have been doing the classic British boy curls up front hairdo for a while, but last night I slicked my hair back after a shower to see how things will look as I grow it out...

...and she promptly messed it all up again 🤣

Basically my dream 'Do, were I ever so bold as to actually tackle it.

...turns out there are artificial wool dreadlocks one can weave into their hair though, so never say never 🤔

Challenge Journal:  Date of 10.12.2020

Weight:  215.8lbs.

I think it's safe to say we're cruising through the week already.

Big order of MyProtein arrived yesterday - their BCAAs are a bit meh but so far their Salted Caramel whey is bomb.  Really adds a delight to my protein cookies.

Yesterday's WOD was my spin on GMB paralettes lvl 1 paired with accessory work. 4rds/6 reps each of Tuck Swing to Plank/KB Bent Press, paralette shoulder stands/hangoard pull-ups,  paralette Pike Push-ups/Candlestick rollups, Divebomber push-ups/Ring muscle-up progressions, with a Cash-Out of 4 mins each 30s on/off Bodyweight Squats followed by 4 more mins of 30s on/off Kettlebell swings.  And then stretching!  Always a good time.

The beggies before cookies experiment has been going well.  It's only of those switches that just needs a constant reminder in order to be applied.  I've started mapping out my daily meals in MFP during the day so I know what I'm looking at all day.  Since I enjoy the cooking so much, I can generally figure out what I'll be eating all day from the minute I rise (or rather, when I break my fasting window) to bedtime.  So I'll keep working on that slab of protein with a handful of veg to supplement my evening snack cookies.

We leave you with just a sample of #ThursdayThorsday!

MyProtein is the brand I use too! Glad we are of agreement on the salted caramel. I also flirt with the  Stracciatella flavour when I'm feeling fancy.

Oh. Dreads are awesome. I’ve often considered them myself. But I’d rather do braids for him now (he’s 2.5). He can choose dreads later when he wants them on purpose XD
