Total coincidence, though to be fair, one or both of them is pretty much always photo bombing me. Didn’t even actually notice he was looking at my butt until I’d already posted on Insta ...

Week: 2, Tuesday

 

Nutrition

Goals here: smaller portions, less meat, more veggies, nutrient dense food options, no GI issues. Eat with an eye toward Base MFP goals for slow weight loss: 1,260 calories, 20% protein, 50% carbs, 30% fat

Did I eat a vegetable today? Yep! Peas & spinach at lunch, peppers at dinner 

Did I eat like an asshole? Nope, despite the food gremlins doing their damnedest to throw bad messaging my way

Did anything try to kill me? Not especially but not zero pain. I’m also an idiot and forgot I’ve always had smell sensitivities- bought lotion without smelling it first. Slathered my arms and hands - held out for a good 30 minutes as my eyes watered and then dried out and got scratchy, my mucus membranes tried turning themselves inside out, and my nose itched. Smooth move, there, Ex-Lax.

Did I drink enough water? I think so

 

Movement

Goals here: 4 - 5x a week yoga classes + a little or a lot of accessory work on Saturdays and a walk on Sundays. Projected weekly schedule: Monday: Slow Flow, Tuesday: Walk, Wednesday: Detox, Thursday: Private Session, Friday: Rest, Saturday: ?, Sunday: Mall walk

 

Yoga Class: Nope. There was a spot open for functional in the pm, but I needed no more people 

[ / ] Did my wrist rehab exercises + leg rehab + breathing exercises - ish. Worked on wrists a bit

Thanks! the tacos were pretty great - I’ll be posting the recipe in the next 2 weeks. I finished the rest of the taco mix off last night with some simple pearl barley cooked with a little butter & chicken stock powder and *chef’s kiss*.

Wednesday, Thursday

 

Food has been good - been sticking with oats, peanut butter & banana for breakfast. Not sure if it’s working, per se, but I’ll give it another couple weeks. 

 

Lunches were leftovers & Ikea meatballs 

 

Dinners were pearl barley with spinach & onion + leftover barley + leftover taco mix 

 

Creativity has been good. I’ve been doing an exercise a day with Procreate - watercolor and florals mostly - and have been at least signing up for more blog stuff. Scheduled in some Instagram posts. I need to type up a couple recipes today. 

 

Have worked a bit more on my sashiko piece. 

 

Dogs have had rude balls and frozen foods night and I’ve kept the heel training up. Had a conversation with the dog trainer about little tweaks to do since I feel like we’ve backslid a bit - which could just be a function of leaving the house more and will settle itself out. Not sure yet. 

 

And that’s mostly been it. I ventured out yesterday to the mall by myself to pick up some hard to come by Lego I reserved for my godson - and try and find things for DH for his birthday, Valentines Day, and our Anniversary + some plant stands or something for our lighting setup. Was semi-successful and remembered why I was over taking Ubers. Only got mildly carsick both ways. Walking was nice, but I kind of think I need to reconfigure my shoe setup - I was able to walk at my pace (faster than DH), and man did the marble floors do an extra number on my joints. I think the floppiness of my knit top shoes allows my feet to slide around too much - maybe I need to switch to a: narrow foot shoes, and b: actual tennis shoes or at least something different. I love my wingtip-looking tennies on the DL, but maybe they aren’t the best. Or maybe my joints are just broken. Probably a little of column A a little of column B.

Forgot to actually check in on my thread yesterday. Oops.

 

Saturday was good - we socialed and went to an American strangers’ house for games with a group we didn’t know. Poor DH was the only dude, but I think he had a good time nonetheless. 
 

Decided Mickey DH’s was a good option for dinner - mostly because I have an aversion to his favorite burger place at the moment and woke up that morning with the taste of McDonalds beef in my mind’s mouth.

 

Sunday was actually productive - we set getting my phone number released from DH and his ID to me and mine - should find out if it actually happened in a couple days. And then I can hopefully update my passport # on my ID, pick up a new copy of my ID, finally get my damn health card, and register to receive the vaccine. So. Step 1 of all of that hopefully done. 
 

Food was meh - had another of those Achmas for breakfast (black olive stuffed soft bagel bun things), lunch was steak & potato at Texas Roadhouse, dinner was ranch seasoning popcorn.

 

Not the best. 
 

Monday was good - tried to recreate the Cuban bowl from Trader Joe’s not having tasted it just having seen the package on a list of the best things at TJs ... it was good, if not accurate. Got like 3 thanks, babes, from DH. I’d call that high praise. 
 

Yoga was a functional vinyasa class - no Instagram moves, just some good leg-focused flow. 
 

Have continued working on heel with the pups; dinner has been snuffle mats, bag of trash and frozen foods night. 
 

have worked on clearing bloggy emails and worked on the first e-Book. Now I’ve just got to make 5 Whole30 recipes that aren’t on the blog to include and then I can post it. We may only do 3, so I can hopefully bang them out in the next couple weeks. I’ve got to still have regular blog content ready to go - I think I have 1 in the can? This week should see definitely another 1 - that bowl was worth sharing - and maybe 2, depending on how my vegan enchiladas go tonight. Neither are W30, though. 
 

Have also worked to create a few new digital pieces and have worked at least once on my two physical projects.

That sounds like a lot of hoops to jump through... though a health card also sounds like the sort of thing that is useful to have for other reason than getting a vaccine. And then again, if it is the Covid vaccine, that's worth jumping through a very large number of hoops for.

This isn’t even all the hoops - this is just the current hoops. #bureaucracy 
 

As for vaccine, this will also allow me to get on the eventual waiting list - which has been currently expanded to 60+ year olds with their health card that aren’t chronically ill. I’m still quite a ways off from eligibility; hoping the issues with the registration system being impossible to use because it won’t recognize either colloquial or government official addresses is fixed.

Yesterday - Wednesday

 

Wait, did I forget to actually update my thread yesterday again? 

 

Apparently I have threadnesia. 

 

Tuesday

 

Took myself to a really tasty breakfast at Nando’s (a grilled South African/Portuguese chicken chain I’m surprised isn’t everywhere in the US), had my coffee catch up over Zoom, hung out around the house, and went to functional yoga - where the instructor I was taking private classes with tried to murder our shoulders in the best possible way. 

 

Food was good for me but DH hated it - vegan enchiladas. 

 

Wednesday 

 

Bailed on my scheduled detox yoga class because I couldn’t fathom leaving the house 3 days in a row. Caught up on bloggy stuff instead - typed 2 recipes and got the Whole30 e-Book 85% done. Just need to drop in 5 new recipes + move any recipes around to sections that need it + update the table of contents + roll it into a pdf and post it up for sale - possibly through Amazon??? Haven’t 100% decided. I may just do an auto-send with email collection. Maybe. I don’t have on boarding emails or a newsletter as of now, and should probably launch time concurrently - but that sounds like a lot of drama. 

 

Anyways. 

 

Also tried designing a birthday card for DH but hate it and have no idea how I’d actually print it out how I want it to be printed. 

 

I feel like I did something else, but I can’t remember what. 

 

I also had massive stabby stabby and got “busted” by DH being unable to stand straight without pain due to intestinal stabbies right before bed. Explained for the nth time that yes, it occasionally to often feels like someone is stabbing my intestines with a hat pin - usually tied to food - sometimes right after I eat, sometimes at a time and place of the cosmos’ choosing. When I’m lucky, it’s gas (maybe). It always ends eventually. It doesn’t feel like I’m dying; it’s just uncomfortable. I probably ate the wrong thing. A whole vegan frozen pizza was probably not the best lunch. I should have skipped dinner, but the leftover Cuban rice smelled so good ... so I paid for my choices. 

 

And then I woke up at 2 am for an unrelated reason (we are watching Season 5 of The Expanse and Food Nerd Brain kicked into overdrive trying to a: come up with a recipe for black sauce noodles, and b: figure out the food logistics for people living in Space). 

 

I did a lot of early morning research and held lectures in my head for an extended period of time. 

 

The blog is getting a lengthy post that makes some semblance of sense but needs a third round of editing because that sense may make more sense in the hatchet order I wrote it. 

 

As for today (Thursday), a class I was less excited to take (core work) got rescheduled due to a sandstorm and I ended up bailing on it because my body was feeling quite beat up from Monday & Tuesday’s classes + I was still deep into writing that post. 

 

And then I pulled recipes for 2 more e-Books, and worked on another Procreate drawing project. And did some Sashiko. I’ve also snuggled and played with the pups this afternoon. 

 

No clue what dinner will be - I planned poorly for the week and have nothing set by for tonight except for a pouch of emergency egg fried rice + some ramen and lots of leftover chicken. Something can be had here, bolstered by freezer veggies - I just have to commit to a direction and that will wait for DH to get home. He may want his Mac & cheese instead. Or, he may need delivery. His work has been physically demanding this week and it has him kind of beat up. 

 

Yoga will be had tomorrow - it’s handstand class at 3:30. That’ll still make 3 classes in a week; not too shabby. I’ve got to figure out this 4th class business but may end up just doing an either/or each week. Wednesday’s class is great and I really like the instructor - Thursday’s class is at a good time and I don’t know that instructor or her classes. Core sounds less exciting, but I love pretty much everything the other teacher teaches (she’s an alignment-based functional teacher as well who jokes about the lack of Instagram poses in her vinyasa flows).

What is your preferred vegan substitute for cheese? I am struggling to find decent ones around here.

I just saw that the  collab exists like 5 minutes ago and I’m sorely tempted. Off to actually look at it, because maybe. I do love me some ColourPop highlighters. 

 

Cheese. Expense af cashew=based cheeses seem to be best on my stomach. I’ve not had tons of luck otherwise - here, I can only source UK or Australian cheeses; there’s an Australian brand that does better than the Veg Life(?) brand from the UK. In the States, if I remember correctly, I liked Daiya for cream cheese & I think Kite Hill had something good, though that may have been yogurt or another cream cheese brand. I think Daiya shreds are supposed to be good?

Friday

 

Had my oatmeal breakfast, made an emergency pouch of fried rice + frozen veggies for lunch and ordered shawarma with fries for dinner because no one was in a mood to dick around and order something that would cause a fight. 

 

Mental note: Fridays are rough. Handstand practice has me starving when I get home at 5:30. Next week, I need to be zippy - we have dinner reservations at 6. I could just walk from yoga ... or could have DH pick me up in the Uber on the way. Either way, I may just meet him there? Or I can hie my ass on home and get ready real quick. I suppose I *could* Uber home. Or just wear makeup to class. I don’t get terribly sweaty, just tired. 

 

I don’t think we were at sand storm levels yesterday, but daaaaaaaaaaaaamn the wind was oppressive. I was thankful for a mask + huge sunglasses and that I got to bust out my new long wool cardigan. Still thought I was going to freeze to death in my new Amazon special leggings. They’re super cute - and a LuLu dupe. <3. 

 

I should totally think about what I want to wear to dinner next week - and try some shit on - I don’t really fit into all my favorite dresses atm. I think I’ll go for the black lacy skater dress, which should still fit. If I don’t wear it with leggings, my legs may freeze though. I will also need some sort of cardigan or jackety thing so I don’t die in the restaurant. 

 

Doggie frozen foods for dinner, Sashiko and drawing practice happened, did something bloggy? Maybe? Don’t remember if that was yesterday or not.

Nando’s is so good and I have no idea why it hasn’t made the jump across the pond - for the most part - I think it’s in DC. 
 

some things are a little greasy for my delicate system, but when they’re not ... yum.

Soooooooooooooo. At least I’m not the only one that’s been garbage at updating.

 

Things have been fine. Had a couple days of a zillion calories - one planned date afternoon at a new-to-us Andalusian spot and 1 accidental baller af Turkish breakfast. 
 

Been yoga-ing as I can, averaging 3/4 classes per week.

 

Dogs have at least had enrichment feeds - I’ve not been great with keeping the heel training on days I don’t have scraps to share.

 

Blog stuff has been kinda going - I hit another slump while I wait and create + make those last 5 recipes for the ebook.

 

Crafting has been happening and I’m really into my drawing classes. I’ve been looking forward to them each day. 

and now I’m almost late to yoga - more later!

Hey, look - I made it - 2 posts in 2 days. 

 

Yesterday was fine. Oats & banans for breakfast, detox yoga which kicked my ass in the best possible way, checked out a new drugstore afterward and grabbed some toothpaste that will be an adventure at least - I think it’s all in Italian. Let’s see what Italians like on their teeth. 

 

Home & polished off the Cuban chicken leftovers with a bowl of rice. Was still starving so had extra rice. Dinner was full of fails but still tasty - burned the sweet potato rounds and am garbage at making poached eggs - but somehow some of that tenderloin I still swear was a mistake price made it all better. 

 

Drawing practice was completed and I worked a bit more on the me-created piece I’m working on. (Me-cobbled from Pinterest, but still ... ) 

 

Dogs had frozen food night - Princess stayed in her room until we were ready to settle down for TV. .

 

Did my wrist rehab during class and was a bit too zealous with it - my forearms are sore now. 

 

As for today so far, I’ve typed 2 of the 5 paid-only recipes for the e-Book, and cooked and finished off my recipe post for Belter black mushrooms. 

 

Have also scheduled a bunch of Instagram posts and am trying to de cooking grease stank the house before our friends come up on Saturday for DH’s bday bbq. My essential oil diffuser is not working, nor has spraying the kitchen within an inch of its life, airing out the house, and burning my cinnamon vanilla candle. Maybe I’ll go grab some lemons to nuke later. That should work. Nuked lemons or stove chai. 

 

This smell is driving me crazy. 

 

I also need to Febreeze the house, and re-cover the couches with their waterproof sheets. I do not want to get up, so that is all going to wait until I’m feeling less lazy. Thursday is my no people day this week and I’m enjoying not having to be anywhere or do anything. Except for fill out DH’s card. That needs to be done, and I really should hit the grocery for at le

Thursday PM

 

Took ourselves out for dinner to the new Turkish steakhouse (the same place I had the accidentally baller breakfast at) and got to sit outside while we split a T-Bone and some mashed potato croquettes + hummus. It was delicious and nice to eat outside - and around people. A table of Colonial French teenagers eating burgers, and a table of 2 locals who ordered a ton of food, and sampled a couple bites from each dish before jetting. They spent most of the time on their phones, too. Odd but definitetly interesting to see - our theory was that this was the pre real-dinner snack stop. 

 

Friday

 

DH took the day off - his birthday - and we went out for an early lunch at one of our perinneal faves, Shakespeare & Co. We didn’t have a reservation, so weekend outside dining was out - luckily, they had seats left inside. Had beetroot hummus & roasted veg toast with fries that tasted like McDonalds. 

 

Went to yoga, where asshole brain told me that I was immediately nauseous, dizzy and sleepy the second I almost got balance in handstand. Dick. 

 

The rest of practice went well, and I’m getting somewhere - my kick-ups are mostly nicer, at least. Spent some time in pincha as well and was able to balance for a good 5 seconds away from the wall after pulling my low ribs in and firming up my legs. Had meant to work on shoulder raises while up, but was too excited to do so, so fell out of it. Gracefully, though, so there is that. 

 

Art practice was a Midecentury woodland scene. 

 

Dinner was out at our favorite steakhouse - which we figure we hadn’t been to since DH’s bday last year. It was still fantastic. Brioche pull-apart bread with blue cheese butter, carpaccio with lime cream & foie nibbles, a 250g strip steak with red wine jus and portobello mushroom, and broccolini with almond shavings. Yum. We skipped dessert in favor of cocktails, and man do they do some goodies. 

 

Came home and DH got his Animal Crossing celebration while chatting with his parents. 

 

Also picked up the house a bit more, put the living room couches back together with their covers, and got the kitchen back to an order that looks like good food comes out of it. 

 

Today (Saturday) is the last of the birthday celebrations - a BBQ with friends. We’ve got steaks, burgers, Uber crispy potatoes, and broccolini - with some sort of dairy-free dip for tortillas going to happen, and I’m ordering a bunch of mini doughnuts + possibly a single serving ice cream cake for dessert. 

 

Hoping this all goes well, but I know it’s going to be a hard day for the dogs. I will do what I can to minimize our time in and out - and do what I can so Odin doesn’t just scream at the husband of the couple the entire time, like he loves to do. The dogs also get to meet a baby - so we will see how that goes.

That sounds like a great weekend (inverted nausea & sleepiness aside) and some very nice food too - Shakespeare & Co. was also one of my regular trips, usually when I wanted to treat myself to a nice breakfast at the weekend.

I’m quite proud of them lately. They’ve really ramped up and changed the menu around in the past year - lots of new, smaller than ‘so much food you’re like to die’ portions for the new stuff, and quite a few vegan dishes as well. My beetroot hummus toast with roasted veg was quite tasty. I had the pulled short rib benny last week and it was completely solid.

Well, this has been a week. DH was home sick Monday & Tuesday with a mild fever, sneezing, stuffiness and light cough - Wednesday he got a Covid test so he could go back to work - and today he’s home because the negative result came in at 10am. So. 

 

I did yoga Monday when I thought it was allergies or the man flu - Tuesday we both stayed in all day and I stayed out of yoga yesterday too - just in case. 

 

We also got put back into half restrictions as of this morning - we had anticipated lockdown, but rumor has it that may wait until after the current soccer thingie going on unless something drastically improves. 

 

Hopefully this reduction in indoor capacities, re-closing of playgrounds and at least lip service to actually enforcing mask wearing in public (they’ve finally given the unequivocal directive of masks when out of the house unless alone in the car - hard to argue with that one or claim sauntering as exercise). 

 

Art tutorials have continued. 

 

I’ve mostly been eating like crap - partly because DH is home and I feel like my schedule, such as it is, is off; partly because I’ve been eating too damn much and don’t like where the scale has crept back up to (self destructiveness FTnotW). 

 

We’ve also been dipping into DH’s bday present - Bokksu gourmet Japanese snacks boxes. Gotta catch up before March’s comes. We’ve finished about half of January’s. We also discovered the joy that is Philippino(??) corn nuts. Waaaaay better than US corn nuts. Maybe better is not the right word - different. Lighter, thinner hulls, crispier. They’re fantastic. 

 

Dogs have been at least semi-enriched. They only had 1 walk this week - Odin was so hard up Tuesday evening he grabbed his leash. Of course, that was the day we were a little freaked out, so we played as many rousing rounds of fetch with his new favorite ball as he could stand. He likes this one so much I can get him to growl when playing tug with it about 60% of the time. 

 

I’ve finished the recipes for eBook 1 - I have to finish the ToC and actually put it up somewhere, but then it will be done. I need to also get back on Pinning shit, but figuring out where I was seems like a pain in the ass. I’ve been keeping up with Instagram mostly, though I’ll be running out of canned shots soon unless I get my ass out of the house. 

 

I’m planning on hitting tomorrow’s handstand practice unless my stuffiness gets worse. We are way spread out in that class, so if I keep my mask on, I should be fine - I think I’m fighting what DH had, per our usual illness relationship. He gets something, I get like 10% of it while I fight it off. The air in our apartment is winter dry, which always plays absolute hell on my head. There’s also something out there playing havoc with my sinuses - daily sneezing fits + pressure headaches for the last 2? Weeks. Needless to say, it’s not fun in my face and I’d like to go full frog - without the risk of mold.
