So i decided to take it down a notch and just go for the walking and give myself some rest. Sometimes, all I do with a challenge is keep the things I want to do at the forefront of my mind. I also added 2 KM to my distance target and did my excercises. On monday 04-01 i did 20x3 incline push up, 20x3 wide squats and 40 sec planks. I didnt add any distance. ExpectJade Posted January 5, 2021 Author Report Share Posted January 5, 2021 Life update Today i had my first laser hair removal appointment to get rid of my facial hair. This is a personal victory as the beard is a thing that kept giving me big waves of dysphoria, so stoked to start with the facial hair removal. I also had an appointment with my therapist and we spoke about doing prep work for future surgeries. One of the topics that came up is my weight and BMI. before i can undergo any surgery i need to lose at least 40-50 kilo's and reach a BMI around the 25, thats 11 points lower than i have now. In about a year i could start getting surgeries and to be honest i don't want to wait any longer than necesary. So there is an immense pressure on me to lose weight, and i now the philosophy is slow and steady wins the race. But i feel a huge urge to start losing weight. I can use all the advice i can get. I think it’s wise to go slow and steady. I’ve a long history of reading a lot of health research and about losing weight. I’ve lost pretty large chunks of weight before myself. However, I also take anything that worked for me with a grain of salt for others. There are too many factors that influence weight for it to be simple and easy, and far too many parties oversimplify and overgeneralize with their claims. I second drinking adequate water, but it only works to a point. Too little and you’ll be dehydrated and retain water, too much and you’ll lose valuable electrolytes. (Coming from someone who struggles with moderation sometimes). Regular exercise helps, but too much exercise can actually short circuit this process early on. Intense exercise is great for you. It can also trigger intense hunger and cravings, and I’d you eat extra before or after exercise it can keep you from losing weight even if it does change body composition. Or you can lose a ton of weight and muscle. I went from being a “fat kid” in my freshman/sophomore year who weighed a little more than I do now but at a few inches shorter to being a stick without any strength. I did it by running constantly and eating about 90% fruit and vegetables. Probably most of my fat and protein came from milk. But I looked like a ghost, lost my strength for anything but long distance running, and probably stunted about 2 inches of growth doing it. Sprinting, HIIT, and strength training are fantastic in moderate amounts. Eating goals can be accomplished in a lot of ways, but that’s highly individual for you. Keto works for some but my reading and experience indicate it tends to be more successful with men; I tried it and lost weight and fat around my middle but my wife didn’t experience any successes with it on the same diet prescription at the recommended amounts (and going conservator carbs). Fruit is good, veggies are great, especially cruciferous ones. Do you have a plan? What have you tried in the past? Are there any limits you are working with? I'm coming to you as a female - I'm not sure about your hormonal situation, so some of this might vary. But in general, female hormones make things like IF or Keto a little bit harder (not saying they won't work, just in general it's going to make everything a little bit harder). I'd go over to the Nutrition and General Fitness sections of the forums and read some of @Defining's posts (here is a good example). The big thing to remember is that it's going to be a process, regardless of how fast you want it to happen. The past 8 days have been a rollercoaster, a lot of stuff happening at work, very busy with aplications for a new job and just in general busy. I however owe all of you an update. Things went up and down. The 1st week of january my weight went up, in the past 2 weeks i managed to get it down again to almost 124 kilo's. I started a new regiment and that is working out! I feel good, sore but good. I kept up with my voice excercises and my walking so i am proud. I was in the last leg of my job, so i had to get those things finished up. There was some problems on the homefront that required some mental health proffesional help. Then there was excercising, therapy and finding a routine that works. But i am still here, my updates may be sporadic but i keep coming back In the weeks i was away i discovered that intermittent fasting is something i can keep going, which is surprising but seems to work I didnt meet my goals, but at least i found a diet and excercise regime that works for me 3 Lvl 1: Adventurer with monk ambitions Current weight: 123,3 KG.
