Heyo!

Decided to revamp my challenge  on the 28th, a little more indepth if you read the original post in spoiler. But working on finding a Practicum/Job to finish my degree.  Trying to make good choices along with it, and now if I follow through I'll reward myself with the  Nintendo Switch and Ring Fit Adventure!

Quest for the RING CHALLENGE

Feb 28 - Week 3 Day 1 (just using normal challenge timeline now)

1. YNAB Reset - 0/0

2. Applications 0/1

3.  Savings: 12%

4.  Taxes: Federal done, State to be finished

5. Calorie Tracking: 1/1 Did the math for Dominoes before I ordered pickup (had a solid craving, last out 2 eat on my own for the reset)

6. Meditate: 1/1

7. Journal Daily: 0/1

8. Musuem Job Catch up 0/30

9. Decluttering: Step 3 - Paper

10. Workout 0/1 -- working on getting through a ring fit walkthrough (sadly it is tiring w/o the ring)

whelp there we go

Orginal:

Spoiler

Heyo! So I've kind of been passive with this main goal, but I basically need to get a job//internship in my Rec and Park field not only for the moolah but so I can complete 14-16 weeks of work to finish my degree (a requrement for being a nationally recongized degree).

season 1 friends GIF

(I have 2 actually, but need to get an actual full time job now)

I'm hoping for something new, and something that I can have strengths.

Pop Music Video GIF by Olivia Lunny

Also I would like to move into a new place, I'm done with my current place. Just ready to move on.

So for this challenge: 2 cold calls/applications a day until I get a job (even when I get an interview). Because COVID has made this harder and my anxiety is not helping being stuck at home

GIF by Sports Illustrated

This will be a tough goal! So will be logging daily, plus with food pics... Because cooking from home is more fun when you can share your plates.

So tough I want to alter it, but really can't until I get it lined up.

To prepare for my next phase of life finally not being a student, and independent.

Other goals:

Meditation: This literally helps me get somewhere set in my brain to go toward my goals. Tracking daily as I do it twice a day (because sleep needs help).

Budgeting - YNAB (you need a budget) Trying to log daily, and be mindful of my money. Right now working on keeping things a float for immediate and future needs as I'm working barely 15 hours a week.

Keeping Off/Losing weight - I'm currently 298 lbs, Not the best weight, but I'm starting a challenge confidnetly under 300 lbs. Next goal is to be stay at or under 298.  (Hit 292 Tuesday Week 1)

Strength: Doing the "NF Beginner Workout - Modified" along  with any other workouts that get me movin -   Every 14 workouts I can get a small "loot".  First look: wireless ear phones

Nutrition:  Calorie tracking MyFitnessPal  (username: Bouncer333)- Trying to fit all my goals, after not seeing "calories as the bad guys but informers" - yes I do eat 1,000 calorie meals with no problem I found out. Also bringing awareness to what my body needs (hello real foods)

Journaling - I found I can be trapped in my brain, so journaling form current, past dreams (dreams getting really interesting now). Helps level up the game

Whelp if you made it this far, gald to see yah. I hope to return the favor!

Just wanted to update that I FINALLY emailed a dude that had an awesome job opportunity in Colorado.

It's been about 2 weeks since the job post out... so feel kind of bad. But onwards, I have nailed down one cover letter realizing I'm not the type to just have a "draft and fill in the blank". I want a conversation, but it takes time to wrap my head around it.

While I"m here quick draft for goal organization: And to make this confusing, I will start my weeks on Tuesday. I'm noticing its an easy day for me to end up on NF.

Week 0

Daily - Cold call emails/Applications --  1/14 (reward I can do whatever I want for rest of the day)

Daily - Budgeting -- 0/7 (no reward)

Nutrion - MFP -- 1/7 (will add a X for each calorie day hit)

Workout : Goal 1/14 to next reward (will allow myself rest days when my body tells me to)

Meditation: 1/14

Journal: 1/7

Coped slightly from @Aquariiafter crash reading her challenge... I noticed how this template gave a good look on how goals were doing during a week, but also overall.

Daily - Budgeting -- 1/7 caught up! Found a buddy to message with on YNAB

Today I played with sandwiches. Have beef I got from a discount bulk grocery last month that I tried to think of.

(2 top pics)

Supper

Melty sandwich when I wanted something warm. Wanted 2 sandwiches than any with soup.

(Bottom pic)

Lunch

I wanted to try wraps again - I have a tendency to fill up but 5x better than a salad (though didn't feel full).

Wondering his both would be with a thick soup or miso broth.

Only issue with both is I felt hungry -- meh. So going to cook a chicken for a filling meals while these will be there for lunches.

There's tons of protein powder baked good ideas.  I've seen them in cookies, cakes, brownies, etc.  I've done eggs+mashed bananas+protein powder to make pancakes before.

Wave Hello GIF

Yes, the kicker is to make it....

Definetly learned after these cookies that I'm better of making my own stuff over buying. Was shocked by Clif bars that they leave my blood sugar crashing. These can work hard for 3-4 hours.

Okay update: Definetly adding Qigong for workouts since its leaving my heart pumping quite a bit where I struggle to get through a 30 min video. Work had a very physical day Tueday night and taking me a bit to recover especially with the calorie drop.

Adding one more goal, drink my protien mix every morning. My mentor brought it up to help me get a handle on my blood sugar and start the mornings. They don't taste great but are worth trying to help me out. Will do with water for now to drink up quickly.

Week 0

Daily - Cold call emails/Applications --  4/14  - a small clerk/visitor center job that would be gorgeous to work in West North Dakota

Daily - Budgeting -- 2/7

Nutrion - MFP -- 3/7 (will add a X for each calorie day hit) XX

Workout : Goal 3/14 to next reward   -- QiGong today

Meditation: 3/14 -- helping keep my mood calm

Journal: 2/7 (need to do it tonight)

Potion; 1/5  -- plain chocolate with water seems to help me get going

Realized in my job applying venture that I definetly don't want a "head manager" job, I may have the education but oh with my learning curve I want at least a solid year of experience in the field. Attempting to check every state to see what I can find, and back to main job listings like Indeed.

Hiya, just wanted to update I hvae another lovely application in without any cover letters today. Had to start going into Indeed which is bringing up Recreation and Parks internships that are popping up. Traveling all over the state doesn't seem so bad when I'm looking across country...

Hit my daily goal, have a bit ways to go to get caught up. Might do a list of cold calls to nature centers to get caught up and ahead. Celebrating V-Day on Saturday, so if I can get ahead on my goals that woudl be great.

TMI - Period

Spoiler

So one reason I have a hard time "losing weight" is my period tends to come along with full cramps after a slight weightloss. I've bene actually staying within my calorie range to lose a half pound MFP in sedentary. All bloated up and fatigued, I'm proud of myself to keep marching on! Because damn.

Waking up by my neighbors this morning was incredibly annoying but tried keeping myself in check, and tried working on applications.

Hence 1 more put in before noon!

My boyfriend has offered to get me a hotel room if I want a quiet escape to sleep if I need it. I don't think that will help, but if I truly need sleep my stepdad has a room I can huddle into a ball until Monday night.

If I wasn't for the 2 hour drive one way and needing to pack up my stuff and foods, I would 100% be doing it.

/end rant

Writing  Goal: 133/50,000 words

Goal Update:

So this period is giving me flashbacks to before I had a birth control I thought was working... So being a bit easy on myself this weekend.

While trying to be easy on myself this weekend. My mom's gone so I get the couch.

Skipping exercise today, yesterday I also skipped but did my weekly laundry and a cooked french onion soup (had onions that were turning and needed to be used up). Didn't match the recipe, but still eating up the results! Actually learning how to caramalize onions changed my world a little.

Yesterday my ordered Domino's for a reward for herself (that she kindly shared). It was great.

Today I ended up ordering a burger that was delish (a taphouse I have doordashed for but never had). Found the sides and dessert to not be so great.

With other food choices I ended up going over yesterday and today for calroies and no exercise... So smarter choices tomorrow (no 3 in a row for now)

Writing Goal:

Adding writing because my inner child REALLY wants to get back into writing.

Me "I don't have that much time". My inner child "we used to do this everyday no matter what, or at least daydream."

I have a story that has been stuck in my head for 5 years now, it needs to be surfaced.

Call it the late NaNoWriMo on my terms. When I get the 50k I can buy a membership to 4thewords or figure out what resource I want to buy. I tend to buy before doing so call this my "get results if I want to have fun".

The story? Going to watch Mad Max to see if the story actually matches, some sort of apocalypse where the rich are safe. Where the "survivors" are living a desert dust bowl, having wounds/physical changes where they are living stone/humans. I call it "rustic legends".

I was 100% bummed when I found out Burning Man was a bit more "crazy" with drugs or other things I don't care for over "let's get minimal and make beutiful art together."

May the first week be awesome ya'll

Damn I was hit hard on the couch all weekend. My win for today was getting dressed after 2pm and taking out trash, cleaning out my car (subzero weather means a long warm up) and picking up my mom's meds for her with a cart of frozen veggies.

Ended up ordering in too much and I felt like crud all day. Soon as I drank my potion (shake) I started perking up. Enough stuff to perk me up without cramping, but I feel ready to go to work.

No applications but meditated! Going to focus that being my main thing to start week 1 because it helps snowball a better day.

Adding a mini challnge from PVP to get a target amount of veggies.

Haven't hit it today due to just starting at 5 in the evening and ended up filling myself up. Good sign.

Weigh in tomorrow, not hoping for much.

My boyfriend said this looks like cake... it was egg "frittata" on top of a salad. Brightened up with sriracha so I can stay on my toes... So many veggies in this. I impulse bought produce last night when I was craving greens and tomatoes (when thinking past the dessert).

My Women's health update:

Spoiler

Just got done chatting with we'll say a wise women, who let me share my story. Asking for help in all my women's health views that I'm struggling with. Didn't share all of it but got it across, she has a couple people she is going to talk with if I can get at least a well rounded suggestion.

Women in the naturopathic field that might be a better direction for my health, but also not the easiest way for me to get care. So she's reaching out to people for at least helping me get a lead on how to take care of myself.

For me I want to lose weight, but the idea of having a killer non regular period everytime I lose a few pounds is dreadful. Just having someone hear everything, and getting where I'm frustrated (most women aren't nailed to a bed or couch because they feel their worst and can't think straight.

Whelp from thousands of miles apart I was able to find a wise woman.

Applications not done I think I ended up going too low on calories where I couldn't think straight.

Where my mom when she was sick was giving me the side eye of "are you okay".  I was just quiet and just exhausted on the couch.

So upped them a it after reading NF calories article, I am young enogh still where I can figure out what I need.

I offically have  a "treat" before work in a protein smoothie that I bought because it was "Mayan Chocolate" - slightly racist but sounded like some good chocolate flavor while helping my bloat out. Mixed with a random berry mix... Gives me a slight sugar high I look for in work, but without the drop.

I may have had a slight binge last night with PB&Js after work (I enjoyed every bite of whole wheat bread), but that's a huge level up from Mc Donald's which was what I was doing mainly a year ago.

Altering my workout routine where I need to do only rep for 1 week, than up to 2. Hoping to introduce the exercises again without me feeling ill. It's going to be  a process but just doing this will get my body a bit better.

I was reminded when talking to a manger that "I was getting ready for what's next in my life." He gave me a grin and said "that's a great way to look at it."

Even if my Practicum isn't what I want, I know I need to be ready for the next job that does fit me better.

Stuck up a calander on my wall when I found one, realizing Febuary went by WAY too fast. So may use it to help track my challenge. Glad I don't start my new week till Tuesdays by looking at the update.

Hi there!  I'm a YNABer too but I've been terrible lately and not logging in until I have tons of transactions to take care of.

How did the interview go?

I am not saying I am Wonder Woman. I am just saying no one has ever seen me and Wonder Woman together in the same room.

It went fine...

The questions heavily left me:

awkward pulp fiction GIF

They were like great questions that were slightly different than I have ever met.

Felt like my slow processing was brought out significantly which might not make me a great match.

I felt like I rambled to try to find my answer, as I had strong emotions I could feel for each answer but getting it to words ended up taking me longer that she was ready to move on befor I was done talking.

Also very little small talk,  so no just chatting about the position aka there is  probably more than 5 people applying and I have a feeling many are a bit a better fit. Blah.

Will know in the next 2 weeks, just get the feeling it ended up not being great...

Is it bad though that I'm daydreaming my summer out in the badlands??

Like I may or may not be making a packing list. Idk, it's weird how much my heart is like "we did it!" And my brain is like "no we didn't, get  back to the applications!"

Upside let all my references know they will be getting  call. I think.

Yay YNABer, I know the feeling of chronically behind. It ended up taking a good 4 years in not having extreme anxiety  and realizing my goals.

I'm doing my second run of the 34 day reset and have a person I message with (asked on the group, we both happen to be in MN).

Trying to help myself out, realized in January my monthly bills are not that scary. It's the darn food budget I need to watch out for.

Don't be quick to judge your performance poorly.  I find our impression of ourselves often doesn't match what the interviewer got from it.  My fingers are crossed for you.  And even if it doesn't lead to an offer it's good experience for the next interview.  Now that you've encountered new questions you'll feel more prepared next time.

I hadn't heard of the 34 day reset.  I had to google it.  It sounds frightening.  Although I've definitely saved on my dining out and movie budgets... Unfortunately I've routinely overspent on home improvement and clothes shopping.  I've stepped up my clothing box subscriptions and they can get pricey.

Thank you, and luckily a coach I started getting emails from also has some tips for me to think the questions over a bit clearly. Plus prepare a bit better for questions by looking outisde of my own mind frame.

Honestly it is, but has helped put my fears aside. I had woken up with a near panic attack because I wasn't tracking my spending and this challenge popped up on my FB.

Decided to restart tomorrow.  Going to the YNAB forums this time instead of FB.

I personally for the first time was able to cut the cord of my main subscriptions they didn't cost much, but added up. Where I'm struggling to live within my means.

The reset is also a bit easier for me as I am still single with no kids, and have to be the "adult" about money (despite wheat my mom thinks).

-----

Had to take a break on tracking this week, it was a mix of bad hormone changes (lost another pound!) and just wanting to be done.

However, I did keep up with my MFP and did quite a bit of NF reading on the main blog. Realizing how needing to eat more protein AND strength training are helping hands. While also realing I'm pretty weak right now.... My muscles are getting to their shaking point with just 1 strength training and walks by Friday night at work its troubling.

AKA I'm too damn weak for "lots of lifting" jobs... Which is kind of making me mad, but know i have a ways to train.

Just praying their is more jobs that don't need to be higher in fitness, keeping strong with school was just hard for me.

-------

Okay so I'm changing the challenge, same concepts just a focus that will be longer than this. YES I'm changing it again but in the end same goals to just a main reward.

Main reward:

nintendo switch GIF

I'm actually intrigued by how their is a gif.

with the Ring Fit Adventure.

No cool gifs I could find.

Why? I've bene wanting 1 for a year, a YEAR. Yes. Especially when this whole pandemic thingy started.

I personally thought I was going to not be home last summer, and honestly most of my money ended up going toward that.

HOWEVER, I wasn't using YNAB actively. Paying for it? I think I was actually.

So getting a Switch and one of the more expensive games, is quite a bit. However, it being a year and making a QUEST.  For this reward, I will either enjoy the win or find something else to do. AKA, I will be find.

So starting today the EPIC MINI ADVENTURE (Goal is to complete by April 30th).

  1. Be active with the YNAB  34- Dayet Rest (Technically starts March 1st). Don't need to complete, just 90% up there.
  2. Apply to 30 jobs, or get a Practicum.
  3. Have 1k in my savings account (even for just 24 hours)
  4. Turn in my taxes
  5. Stay on track with eating (MFP, mini-PVP challenge) (90% of the days)
  6. Meditate daily (90%)
  7. Journal Daily (75%)
  8. Get caught up with museum job (or 30 hours of work done)
  9. Finish Marie Kondo decluttering
  10. Do a workout daily (goal 50% of the day)

I put my limit at 10...

I want to sleep 8 hours every night, but honestly that has been natural with the working out and eating better.

Exciting stuff no? lol not really, just wanted to share. My boyfriend is the only oen that knows this is my challenge, and he is all for me doing the "unboxing" with him when I get it.

He has 100% been a cheer leader with my "getting healthier." Even when it doesn't make any sense to him.
