I feel directionless right now and I don't like it. At the same time I seem to have lost sight as to what would constitute a reasonable goal. Life/mood-wise things are actually relatively stable now, the massive changes I spent so long trying for have been realised one way or another. And sure, I have plans for more changes, but...

So maybe this challenge will be about finding a medium sized goal to try for?

I really don't know, but I really don't want to be continually drifting away from here, so here I am.

...should a goal or two or three appear, I'll update this post to reflect that.

That is not a bad goal, actually. A little more meta than average, but if it works it works. :)

Considering the drama of last challenge, a regroup and rediscover challenge seems like just the thing,

You could start with a simple list: what you like about your life, what you want more of, and what you want less of. Not necessarily as a way to set goals, but as things to reflect on.

...true. I still feel the tiniest of pings of residual guilt about not setting any actual goals, irrational though that may be.

And you know what? I really like that list idea. Thanks!

Now that I can get behind. Here helps. So, following that logic, being here regularly will help more!

Finding goals can be challenging, so that definitely counts as a good challenge!

It really can be. Finding a goal is definitely going to be a challenge in and of itself this time!

Goal setting is tricky. I guess I'd stay with looking at where you want to be in 10 years time, and then deciding what the next step is on the journey to that point.

Don't say "I don't have enough time", say instead "that's not a priority right now" and see how that makes you feel.

I've got a rough idea of that. Maybe it's time to get more detailed about it...

ZERO WEEK

I haven't really started this, or as much as you can start a goalless challenge, anyway, but I think I have something of an idea of what I might do with this space for the next four weeks. First, though... I actually figured out why I'm having such a hard time with goals right now, and that's because I've actually achieved something I've been trying to achieve for as long as I can remember. I'm consistently functional. I'm consistently happy. I'm recovering. That's something I counted on trying to reach for my whole life, and now I'm here all of a sudden and I just... don't actually know what comes next. But you know what? That's great!

As for using this space... I want to be consistent in coming here, so I'll say that every day I will come here, and the least I will do is update and post something positive about my day. Doesn't have to be a big thing, could be anything at all so long as it brought me happiness. I like being happy, and what's more, I love sharing that with others. I want to help other people be happy.

That's what I've got so far. Maybe I'll add more, and maybe I won't. There's no pressure this time around, none at all.

As for today's happy?

I finished my session plan for tomorrow's D&D session. This is the most excited I've ever felt about running a session, and quite possibly the most excited I've ever felt about any session at all. Everything leading up to this session has been an introduction of sorts, and now the story kicks in hard.

And I can't wait to see how it goes!

ZERO WEEK

I had very few aims for today, and what aims I had, I believe I achieved them. My positive for the day is that I delivered my D&D session, the one I've been so excited about, and I delivered it well enough for Mr Gooner, who plays our cleric (and very freshly bitten wereboar!), to say it was the best session yet. That felt good. That felt really, really damned good.

And there is my teeny tiny positive for the day!

I almost let some of my players get bitten by a were-creature.  I'm glad it didn't happen because I think it would be super hard to try and DM things with a were-creature in the party (especially when the other players are all only 5th level).

I gave the poor guy a chance to roll a con save every turn until the end of combat, but his rolls were all abysmal... Luckily, this has made the shift into an entirely homebrewed campaign, so it gives me some more freedom with lycanthropy. I'm still pinning down the finer details, but I think I've got something manageable at the moment.

That's the opposite of how things played out in our group.  At least one person really wanted to fail their Con save because any downside was way offset by the complete immunity to non-magical weapons.  Unfortunately for them (and fortunately for me) they rolled amazingly on every con save :D
