Well, here we are at Week 2, but better late than never. My last challenge or two kind of fizzled near the end when I stopped caring about doing things. So we'll see if this one goes any better.

I'm setting a morning routine and things are scheduled with a time that they should take to get done.

Get up: 7am

Brush Teeth: 5 min

Morning Prayers: 15 min

Walk: 10 min

Exercise: 30 min (M W F - Pull-up Workout, T Th - Rucking)

Brush Hair/Get Dressed: 5 min

Pack Lunch: 10 min

Which in theory gets me ready to leave for work by 8:15 am. Trying it out this morning, several things took me a minute or two longer than scheduled, but I mostly made up the time when the workout didn't take the full 30 minutes, so it's all good. This will be the plan for Monday-Friday. Weekends will be modified as needed to fit whatever I'm doing that day. Mostly I expect that will mean walk/exercise won't be part of the morning routine. I think Saturday get up time will be 8 hours after whenever I go to bed as long as I don't have anywhere particular to be (I want to allow for staying up late one night a week if I want). Sunday it will be 6:30 am which will hopefully mean I'm not rushed getting to church.

Now, in order to get up by 7 am (or whenever I need to be up), I need to go to bed at a reasonable time. So, getting ready for bed is 10:30 pm and lights out is 11 pm.

In other news, I'm on Day 29 of the NF App 30 Days of Walking adventure. I started it because I had mostly stopped doing regular exercise during the week and needed something easy to get moving. I'm very happy about how consistent I have been, especially on a couple of those rainy weekend days when I really didn't feel like getting outside. I will probably start over again as soon as I finish this round.

This morning I started the Chin-Up Challenge (again), only I'm doing pull-ups. I did it a couple of times last year and got to just over half a pull-up before deciding to take a break. When I did the placement test last week, it looks like I've backtracked a bit (not surprising after all the time off). Today's workout was harder than expected, although that may be because I'm still sore from practicing ice axe arrest on Saturday.

I also signed up for the Movement Mystery Group Challenge in the app, but I don't know exactly what that will involve, and I will drop it if it gets to be too much.

Last night I was a bit late going to bed (11:45). Nights when I don't get home until after 9:30 pm and haven't had dinner are a struggle and will likely continue to be. Taking dinner with me would require planning since it's nice to have a cooked meal for dinner, or at least something I can reheat. Maybe I could look into taking my backpacking stove?

This morning I got up a few minutes late, but otherwise did pretty well staying on track. The end of the routine got a little mixed up because I was also pulling laundry out of the dryer and folding it so I would have clothes to wear. But that's okay, laundry needed to happen (I was out of clean socks). I also called the garbage service people and ordered a yard waste bin. Now (well, in a couple of weeks when the bin comes) I can maybe do something about the blackberries that are taking over the back of the house. Cool thing is that the service guy told me that I can pause the pick-ups for up to six months out of the year, so if I'm not doing yard work at some point, I won't need to pay for pick-up.

Last night was lights out before 11pm. Actually, the lights were still on, but I'm pretty sure I fell asleep before then. The lights went off when I woke up a few hours later.

Morning schedule was weird because I had to leave home early to go to a job site. I woke up a little early, but not enough to go walking (I knew I'd be doing a bunch of walking at the job site) or do the pull-up workout. I will try to remember to do the pull-ups later so I don't get off schedule.

Ope! Following!

I’ve never done the chin up challenge before. Though I’ve dons quite a few chin up and pull up workouts over the years, I usually seem to top out at 5 or 6 consecutive pull ups.

Last year I did it twice in a row trying to get my first pull-up, but while I made noticeable improvement, I didn't quite get all the way there.

I’m tempted to start a program, but with the loaded Baby Bjorn. I’ve recently lost a good chunk of weight but le bébé just about puts me back to the start. Last I tried I’m out of practice. I’ve not been doing them regularly since he was born.

You’ll get there if you haven’t already! I wasn’t able to do one until adulthood.

That would be awesome! But don't wait too long to start. Le bébé is only going to get heavier!

Good call. Though he had two big poops and probably thinks he’s lighter today!

That’s the way to do it. (Most days, ya gotta give yourself a break once in a while!)

I think I stayed up past 11 last night. I was reading and fell asleep with the lights on again (bad habit). Anyway, lights went off after 3 am when I woke up and remembered I still needed to submit my timesheet for the week. Got that done and went back to sleep.

This morning was a little slow. I hit the snooze button a couple of times before deciding that I was actually going to get up and do things. I also kept getting distracted, so the things took longer. I considered skipping the workout and doing it later because I was behind, but got it done anyway. It's a good thing the third workout for the week is always a smaller one.

This week was mostly a bust as far as workouts go. I have been getting the short walks done, but it feels like there's too much other stuff going on and I'm skipping the other workouts. Monday I went climbing most of the day as part of my mountaineering class. It was lots of fun! Oh, and I slept in the back of my truck under the stars the night before. It was beautiful and possibly the only night I've spent away from home in the last year (except that one SAR mission, but since I was basically hiking all night and not sleeping at all, it doesn't really count).

Wednesday I had a doctor's appointment (annual checkup) and got a tetanus shot since it had been 10 years since my last one. Of course, a couple of hours later, I got an email that I could set up an appointment for the Covid vaccine, except that I can't get it within two weeks of any other vaccination. So that's fun.

Today I decided not to go to SAR rigging practice because I don't think there's enough time between work and the prep session I have for the snow overnight for my mountaineering class. I was going to try to do everything (and have to leave rigging early anyway), but I think it's better to have a little time between things so I can eat dinner.

Snow overnight is this weekend (and I have to pack sometime between now and tomorrow night) and then we're getting into the prep for my church's Palm Sunday and Easter celebrations (a lot of years we're on a different schedule from most of the western world). I haven't really gotten any Lent things done and Lent is nearly over. Sigh.
