Jupiter Shows Up (Again)

Recommended Posts

Hey, nerds, showing up late to the challenge again. Work is still kicking my butt (as always these days), so my only real goal is to post every day, or as many days in a row as I can until the end of the challenge. Oh, and try not to kill my crappy work computer system. Anyway, wish me luck.

So, first post. Work is even more insane seems like. So much for slowing down. The system isn't helping either. Our software is constantly freezing on random pages, especially when I generate my documents, and I end up having to get out and back in every time, which takes forever. The whole system has become so inefficient it's ridiculous. At least it lets me save my work sometimes before it breaks. Anyway, since the last two days have been nothing but crap (except for D&D, which was really fun), I decided to take a self-care afternoon and I watched a few episodes that I'd missed of the Flash, Supergirl, and Nancy Drew. I'm loving the new seasons so far.

Anyway, the goal for tomorrow after work is to do some yoga, eat somewhat healthy meals, and finish my short story. Oh, and start the next Gin Blanco book.

Thanks. :)

Well, today was rough. I had so many files in my queue it was ridiculous. Surprisingly very few people bothered me though (except for one very rude individual), and despite the system still barely working, I managed to get through most of my work, so I'm pretty proud of myself. Downside is I ended up with a huge headache by the end of the day. Anyway, stuff I did today:

- Yoga for 10 minutes

- Meditation for 3 minutes

- Worked on my short story for about 30 minutes

- Ate 1 semi-healthy meal

No reading today unfortunately. Maybe tomorrow.

Reading while headache tends to be unpleasant. Better to rest. I hope you feel better tomorrow!

In my own entirely subjective experience, the eating and the headaches are unfortunately linked. Stress/exhaustion = less desire to eat and less energy to make food = better chance of headache later. Taking care of yourself my making sure you have easy, relatively healthy things to eat might help. For instance, I have a short list of things to make when I don't have the brainpower to think of anything to make or everything just seems too hard. This gives me a better chance of actually eating when I know I should but really don't want to.

Today = epic fail. Will try again tomorrow.

Sometimes picking yourself up off the floor and starting again is all you can do.  Sometimes you have to back to a previous save point and redo a lot of what you thought already accomplished.  I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Thanks. :) I did feel better on Friday, just exhausted. The headache is back today though.

Well, you aren't wrong. I haven't been able to cook a decent meal in months. I've mostly been eating take out and frozen meals. For a while I was eating a lot of rotisserie chicken with frozen veggies, but I got pretty tired of it. And then there's the chocolate stress-eating...yeah. When stress is involved cooking/healthy eating is the first to go.

Today was a little better. Or at least it started out that way. I did some stuff first thing in the morning and ran some errands. I didn't find most of what I wanted, but at least I found a few things. I was doing okay until about midday and then everything went downhill. I barely slept last night (like pretty much every other night this week), and it really caught up with me. My headache came back with a vengeance too. I was supposed to do laundry, clean the house, get writing done, etc. and I didn't do any of it. Instead I lay on the couch like a slug and mindlessly watched TV all afternoon. I did manage to read some, but it was hard to really focus on my book.

Anyway, things I did:

- Yoga for 10 minutes

- Meditate for 3 minutes

- Ate 2 semi-healthy meals

- Read for a little bit

And now I'm off to bed early tonight. Good night nerds.

Oh Jupiter, I'm sorry. Poor sleep, headaches, iffy eating - your body and brain may just have been pushed to their limit and sent you into self-preservation mode. Please accept an internet hug.

So, today. I was still really tired most of the day, but it was still a better day than yesterday. I slept better last night and today there were no headaches and I managed to get more stuff done. Stuff I did:

- Yoga for 10 minutes

- Meditate for 3 minutes

- Ate 2 semi-healthy meals

- Did laundry

- Cleaned my floor

- Read a little bit

- Finished revising my short story

- Revised part of chapter 2 of my novel

- Started writing another short story (only a paragraph or 2, but still)

And now, off to bed.

I slept okay last night and today was crazy busy and stress-inducing as per usual. The problems with the system still aren't any better (I don't know how they expect us to get all of our work done with so many technology issues) and the quality of the files in my queue wasn't great. Everyone is so busy shoving them through as quickly as possible that they're not doing everything they should be doing, so a lot of it is falling on me. Not that this is new, but it seemed especially bad today. I have at least 3 files I have to redo tomorrow because of the issues they had. It's ridiculous.

Anyway, things I did today:

- Strength training for 2 sets (I'm a bit frustrated that I haven't yet been able to increase to 3 sets 😕)

- Ate 2 semi-healthy meals

- Revised for about 20 minutes

- Read for a little bit

I was planning to clean some today too but I didn't make it. And now off to bed.

I'm sorry that you had a rough week :(. I guess you can't go higher up with the system-issues? Are there friendly people in your company of whom nobody knows their exact function, but to whom you go to to get stuff done?

Anyway, it's still good that you're doing strength training and yoga, even though it might not be as much as you'd have liked. With your job, I think there would be very few people who'd continue to do those 2 sets of strength training multiple times per week, and even 10 minutes of yoga can help greatly. I really admire how you get things done anyway, even though life is working against you.

Gah!!! Why do you fix them instead of sending them back?

I'm out of groceries, so I'm scrounging for food until I can get to the grocery store (just as an example, I've eaten popcorn for dinner twice this week), which means I'm more tired than usual this week. I was so tired today that I could barely get through 10 minutes of yoga. I'm surprised I did it at all, to be honest. Anyway, I've been thinking about how I can adjust my schedule so I can try to fit in time for cooking again so I can cook real food for once. Thanks for your comments, guys, I'll try to respond tomorrow.
