Yeah, a human that lives alone is already dead. Outlawry is a death sentence, just not a quick one. It's only in the modern era that money can be exchanged for pack services, to a degree, or that governments attempt to make pack services available to all citizens, also to a degree.

Agreed.

That, and tribalism as it is currently used doesn't work in a society as large as this one.

The concept needs to be redefined, and we need several different version, so we can apply one to our immediate little pack/group, one to larger groups like work, NF community, and similar ones. And then we need a different one for even larger communities we belong to, like all women, or all immigrants. And someone has dropped the ball on this, and I demand they fix it.

Humanity, both on a physiological and psychological level, is not adapted for the modern era, not for the plentitude available in the privileged world, nor for the way technology and telecommunications allow us to interact with the rest of the world. It'll get sorted out.

Or not.

Today is a good day. I was very Dadly today. I fixed a slow draining bathroom sink. Then I donned my Dad uniform of T-Shirt, cargo shorts, and New Balance shoes to mow the lawn. After that I grilled burgers. These were my favorite burgers I have ever grilled myself. They were grass-fed sirloin pre-made patties (never frozen, just in the meat market already formed). I set them on the counter to come to room temp and seasoned them on both sides with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. I grilled them, then topped them with cheddar slices. I also buttered some wheat buns and toasted them on the grill. I put mustard, pickles, tomato and lettuce on mine. I served them with frozen curly fries I cooked in the oven. I wish I had the capacity to make many as well as I made few, and the ability to share them with all of you.

Later we had both sets of parents over. I work on Sundays, and tomorrow is Mother's Day in the U.S., as well as my Dad's birthday. We had them all over to celebrate both events. We ordered pizza and had two different kinds of cake, Tres Leches and a Triple Chocolate Tiger cake, both from HEB. After they went home I gave Little Bit a bath and put her to bed (Dadly again).

So quick dad-tip about plungers. The kind Mario is using, that in cartoons get stuck to stuff, is known as a sink plunger. If you ever have to plunge a toilet, you need a different kind of plunger. Toilet plungers have extensions that sit down in the bowl drain to create the proper action. See below:

Today is a good day. Church was good, and I made lunch before coming to work. I seasoned a couple pork tenderloins with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika and put them in the oven at 425 degrees for 21 minutes. Meanwhile I made a simple salad with baby spinach and mixed greens, feta, and pre-made lemon shallot vinaigrette. I also nuked some pre-made mashed potatoes. Next I put a stick of butter in a skillet with frozen peas, salt, pepper, minced garlic, and red wine vinegar. I cooked it for a while. When the tenderloins came out of the oven I let them rest, cut them up, and put them in with the peas. Next I added some fresh chopped basil. It was all very good.

Sounds very good. Like everything food related here. But since I always think of Banh Mi when I hear pork tenderloin, I still wanted to leave a recommendation here.

Also just asking for a friend: Is this just a thread for dad-tips or also for dad jokes?

Indeed.

Today is a good day. I did 2 full rounds of the NF KB workout, the first time I'd done two rounds in quite a while. It felt good. I have not lost as much fitness as my fears would have led me to believe. Did some cleaning here and there at the house and made dinner. It was chicken meatballs, consisting of two pounds ground chicken, 1.5 c panko bread crumbs, 2 eggs, lots of parsley, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. I mixed, rolled into balls, and baked for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. They are tasty, but a bit dry. The chicken was really lean. If I had known how lean, I might have added some olive oil to the mix. I served it with marinara and parmesan, along side demi-baguettes. I also made a ceaser salad kit.

Fun fact: toilet plungers (that have not be previously used in toilets) are also the perfect tool for containing and controlling the head of medium to large sized snapping turtles (of the common variety, I've never tried it on the alligator variety) while administering medical treatments to the rest of its body. I would imagine they could bite through a sink plunger. Also, I feel compelled to point out if you just jump on their shell and press B to pick them up you can move them around quite easily.

Today is a good day. Instead of not doing Yoga, I did some intentional stretches aimed at loosening up my lower back, along with forward fold and squat. I got a lot done, I traded in my old phone for a credit on the next bill, and got a wireless charging station or two and a longer cord. This phone saw the switch for the charging port go from usb micro-b to usb-c, so all my old cords aren't helpful anymore. I had a good long run with usb micro-b, as my last three phones used it, so I have several cords to put in my never-throw-cords-away-despite-being-obsolete-for-up-to-20-years drawer. I also went grocery shopping, got a haircut, and bought salt for the water softener and put it in the tank (no pun intended). I picked up little Bit from school, who today said "Bye-bye oool" after I said "Bye-bye school." Dinner was very good. I took some beef cut up for stir fry (it claimed it was Wagyu, but I think it's the American stuff grown in the same style, it certainly wasn't priced to be real Japanese Wagyu, but was better by far than the regular stuff) and cooked it in toasted sesame oil with soy sauce. When it was done I added 3/4 c hoisin, minced garlic, sesame paste and rice vinegar, stirred it up, and let it thicken. When it did, I added some broccoli florets I had steamed in their bag in the microwave and some lo mien noodles I had cooked. It was very simple, easy, and good.

Now that is creepy. I used different sauces for mine, and passed on the broccoli, but still...

Stir fry beef is one of the fastest and easiest things out there. :)

I was afraid this story was going to end with you throwing the cord away. Relieved to know you  keep them all forever. I'm sure one day when we are old, our kids will go through this pile of cords and be thankful we saved them.😄 Even when we did my big Flylady purge, I only got rid of a few cords. I'm always worried I'm going to throw the wrong one away.

You mean micro USB, the cord used to charge and power every device in existence, from wireless keyboards to mp3 players to Bluetooth headsets and Bluetooth speakers to Raspberry Pis/clones to tablets? The only reason I'd say those aren't helpful is that I need to charge four things at once, and they only do one.
