RES: CUTE 2021 - is consistent

Recommended Posts

Ivy.jpg

So for my challenges I believe I have the consistency part down as far as planning ( have used the same acronym for almost a year now)...but my execution needs work!

To continue with the acronym…

Spoiler

Those that have been following for a while know that in 2019 I was doing really good hitting my goals, so I went back to see what I was doing then that was working so well. I've been more lax this  year on the food aspect (thanks Covid) With D cooking her fair share making a detailed plan is a little more difficult, but that's only one meal a day every other week so it shouldn't derail me as much as I've been letting it. Making sure I stop eating when I'm supposed to is the biggest challenge with food, since what I eat is generally good. We've started something new with this, we both were tired of creating menus, shopping, and cooking (even though shopping means ordering online) We decided to each purchase our own meals (usually frozen, sometimes just veggies and protein) every two weeks on Tuesday we rotate who makes their tacos, and make enough for two weeks :D and every Friday we order from a local pizza place that makes a cauliflower crust so amazing you can't tell that's what you're eating! Doing this has helped immensely with portion control and I've lost about 5lbs so far. I've also been tracking just to stay aware of what and how much I'm eating.

I'm doing better at making sure my workouts happen,  I have a treadmill and workout equipment at home, there is no good reason for this not to be a priority, until I feel comfortable going to the gym again. (I live in FL, my governor is an idiot, this will probably not happen soon) Reminding myself how good I feel and not letting my brain make excuses are helping...my much needed motivation is I have a birthday cruise to prepare for and I need to be in shape for season. Running around a ballpark is probably not going to be easy with a mask on, so cardio is important! I may not be running around a ballpark this year, we'll find out this challenge (probably week zero) Workouts are still a priority though if I get another job my schedule may have to change a bit. Sleep is essential for these goals as well, I struggle to get 7 hours a night, not because I go to bed late or get up too early, it's because sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and my brain won't shut off!

Spoilered the backstory and no longer relevant parts.

I have a new job, schedule has changed, I have to be to work at 8am instead of 9am, and I have a 45 minute commute instead of 20 minutes. I've also been having some knee issues that I haven't talked about because I've been trying to ignore them in the hopes they will go away, but when I bend my right knee it feels like a tearing on the outside of the kneecap, doesn't hurt all the time but boy when it does!! These items have made working out difficult.

Updates need to happen to hold me accountable.

Sleep...oh how I miss thee...

Lots of extra been going on though!

The Plan...

Cardio - Three interval runs/bicycle rides/HITT Workout . Until I figure out what's going on with my knee I'm going to plan on and hold myself to 20 minutes on the treadmill 3x a week and one strength training a week. This is doable in the time before work and still allows me time to get ready without having to sacrifice sleep.

Update - Post in thread three times a week.

Track - Sleep (at least 7 hours a night) Food (eat when hungry, stop when full, track to be mindful)

Extra - Rides, 5k's, events, and any other random stuff goes here

Done - 🌈

Not Done - ❄️

Living life as a Druid is about walking with the beasts. It's about being scared, looking your fears in the eyes and going on anyway. Dread doesn't go away, you just learn to know it. It's still a beast, it still has fangs, but you walk among it.

Hiya!

I strongly recommend doing stretching of the muscles in your legs. Sore knees can have lots of causes, but tight muscles are common and easy to address. Less stress on the joint will let things heal faster.

I discovered that sitting all day made my quads super tight. I don't notice in normal movement, but ran into limitations in yoga. Doing regular quad stretches helps my knees feel better.  Quads, calves, hamstrings, IT bands, they all connect at the knee and will make things sore if they are out of balance.

I'll do a real update tomorrow but have I mentioned how much you all mean to me lately?

Thank you for being so supportive, even when all I do is whine about how things are going and not progressing, and give me advice to help.

thank you.

So I posted some pretty good items that I want to use to keep me on track, so I'm counting that as an update.

I keep running out of time in the morning and it's causing undue stress, I'm going to start getting up at 5am instead and working out.

Not sure what's going on with sleep...I'm going to bed on time, I just keep waking up at random times, frustrating, but not much I can do about it.

Such a good week personally...work is good, we're finally catching up and I'm learning more about what I'm supposed to be doing, D and I took a kayak class today, and will take a SUP class in two weeks (because next week we're ridding the bikes to Cedar Key)  I have a SUP but D is deciding which one she wants to choose, if either, because we want options for stuff to do on the weekends.

The Plan...Week 1

Cardio - 3x a week and one strength training a week. - ❄️❄️❄️🌈

Update - Post in thread three times a week. - 🌈🌈🌈

Track - Sleep (at least 7 hours a night) Food (eat when hungry, stop when full, track to be mindful) 🌈❄️❄️❄️❄️🌈❄️ Food 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

Extra - Rides, 5k's, events, and any other random stuff goes here - Kayak class today!!!  Ride last Sunday to help out a friend, she was apprehensive about riding so we took her for a little ride to help her get comfortable.

D also started building the bar this weekend...I'll post pics when it's done. Even so it's a nice, relaxing, weekend...for us

First off how did I not find your challenge until now?

Secondly Kayak class?!?! That sounds fun! Is it more focused on using a kayak in rivers?

Daisy Duck Reaction GIF I have no idea, but you're here now and that's all that matters :D

It was a lot of fun! Even though it was very windy...it was more of a general "this is how you paddle a kayak" type thing, and went over how to maneuver in the different bodies of water we have around here (intercoastal waterway, rivers, creeks)  mostly geared towards calmer water, I can't wait for the paddleboard class next weekend!

This weekend is an overnight trip to Cedar Key and the Ozella Trail!

Yay for doing all the fun things with D!

I love seeing the photos of you getting outside and smiling.

I'm with you on struggling to get up and exercise in the morning. Some days it is great and other days I pull the covers back over my head. I have not been as good about going to bed on time as you have, but clearly that is not all the picture either.

Thank you, I've said several times this pandemic was the best thing that could have happened to us...my struggle is more staying asleep than getting in bed, we like sleep around here!!

ETA, forgot to add I went to the chiropractor this week, apparently it's my IT band giving me issues.

I don't know about cheap, you should ask @EricMN who did it a couple of years back. What I can say is we suck at handling covid and hiding it under the carpet, in hopes tourists won't notice, so it might be better to visit next year. That's on top of cruises normally giving you little time in each place in order to increase spending on board, this year due to covid they're not disembarking at all. So short story, you're always welcome, but it might be better to give it a year.

Paddle boarding is on my list! I have been too heavy to use most of them. My cousin insisted I try one and I was way heavier than the rating it would bend in the middle. I still managed to get up once and people where shocked LOL.

Hope you have a good class!

So it looks like getting up 30 minutes earlier was the key to me being able to be consistent with workouts! Now if I could just figure out how to be consistent with sleep...

The strange thing is that I'm generally not tired, I go to bed around 9ish and wake up at 5am, most days I'm awake before the alarm goes off.

I did eat a bit too much yesterday when we went to this amazing restaurant (we walked there and back from our hotel) I regret NOTHING!! OMG that was some of the best food I've had...was worth every bite.

The Plan...Week 2

Cardio - 3x a week and one strength training a week. - 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

Update - Post in thread three times a week. - 🌈🌈🌈

Track - Sleep (at least 7 hours a night) Food (eat when hungry, stop when full, track to be mindful) 🌈❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️🌈 Food 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈❄️

Extra - Rides, 5k's, events, and any other random stuff goes here - Rode across the state Saturday to the Ozella trail, omg what a beautiful day, rode back today!

Obligatory ride selfie!

1k41tTym.jpg

Not my bike in the background, I'm actually standing next to mine, wish I'd taken a picture with her because she's a beauty!

The cruise is probably cheaper in terms of total dollars, but that depends on the round-trip airfare per-person, too. I'd prefer visiting Athens and getting to hang out with @DarK_RaideR for a week again than being on the boat and I am actually hoping cruises become a thing again someday.
