Starpuck: A New Reign Begins

Recommended Posts

After commenting on Tank's thread about my needing to not let go of the reins, I figured this was as good of a title as any.

Perhaps by declaring what is already happening, I can more easily frame my thoughts into a pattern of 'done' instead of 'need to do'.

ImpishMeanHadrosaurus-size_restricted.gi

I have more fluff again than I would like this year.   This happens in cycles.   Lose 20, gain 10,  lose 20, gain 10.   Maybe this time I can get to that sweet spot I found last year and really hammer in the habits and routine so it just becomes the new way of life.    I think, perhaps, under a different year -with less stressors and shenannery- I might have been able to push through the winter doldrums without falling so far behind.    Under this new reign, circumstances will no longer DICTATE my actions.  They may be allowed to influence, but not dictate.

To get back to where I feel the best about myself, I need to do the following:

  • Track Food Daily (until at least such time as I have replaced the space-hogging fluff with more densely packed muscle.)
  • Strength Train Twice Weekly, no exceptions.
  • Cardio Work 2-3X a Week, I want my heart and lungs to stay as strong as my other muscles.

**Stretch after using muscles, c'mon Puck, be reasonable.

  • Nightly PM Brush, with a handful of flosses per week.  Lazy chomper care needs to stop.

tumblr_oqiefzXlt01tydz8to1_400.gif

Side Stuff

Create:  No hard rules on this one.   Draw, Tablet or Creative Write a few times a week.

Get Outside: Plan a hike, or a bike, or some gardening or something per week as weather allows.

Track Spending:  This one needs to be ALL the stuff.   As the routine shifts back to regular, I need to see where my budget is sitting.

I'll add or remove stuff as I get some fire in my belly... right now, this is pretty much all I can muster.       Also ... because my squat rack came in and I am trying to build it on the side here.   LOL.

Rarrrrrr!!!berry?

Day 1 in the books.

I built a squat rack during my last hour at work, and then did 45 minutes of Beat Saber after work.

I tracked my calories, and was just a bit over due to a dirty chai that was consumed at work.

Brushed and flossed.

Hmm, that's all I got.

Thanks for being here Willes!     Despite being a lazy lifter for months, I maintained my 5x5 even with putting on ten pounds, so.... that's like resistance pull ups!  Right?    I am on a mad dash for them now.

Hello.  🙂

Well hello old friend!  Always a pleasure.

Day 2.

I faced the scale this morning so I could get a fresh perspective on future progress.  Namely, if I didn't see where I was at now, I wouldn't as accurately know how my efforts are paying off in two weeks.      It wasn't pretty.   But it wasn't doomsville.   Also, pending sharks are probably to blame for a few of those pounds.    ***     I also got to workout in the warehouse box today!!! Guys, guys!! It felt so great.   Like, sure last summer I made a TON of progress by doing what I could with what I had in my actual front office.   But I really have to say, being in a spot designed for working out just gave me so much more motivation to be there and do it.  I kept things REALLY light and just did 5x5 ... proper, for the first time in 14 months.   ***    Food was tracked and I ate well and clean.    Teeths brushed, but opted for no flossing today.   I didn't make it an every day goal anyway.  😛    ***   Devotions to be had in bed, but guys, I've not missed a day all year.  It's pretty much habit now.

Tomorrow is lunch tacos.  After work Beat Saber.  Then ESO with my pals.

Following, of course. Looks like you're off to a good start. Glad to hear you've got your workout space back and up and running, it's great to have a place that's meant for working out, rather than having to cram it into a space meant for other things. I'm itching for gyms to open again here for just that reason, my bedroom does not make a very good gym...

Hello there!  Nice to meetya!    Haha, so during Pandemic Strict Rules, I bought a barbell that'd fit in my office at just 6' long.  I never planned to lift CRAZY weight, so it was going to be fine.   I didn't have a rack up front, it was just for whatever I could use it for.... but now that I am back in the warehouse, well crap!  Most set racks require the 7' bar to fit.   So I got this thingus:   Used instructions, mostly... kinda?  I mean it was just a picture of the thing.   But yeah, i can set them as near or far apart as I like.   And also use it to bench!

I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about. It was quite literally a picture of a squat rack. It's like on Whiteghost's thread where people keep talking about tits and boobs and shags and cocks like it's something weird. They're just birds.

That is indeed a nice SQUAT rack (I don't want to get dragged down with Tanktimus).  I thought it might have been a lumber based contraption, but this is much better.  I like that it has the safety arms, and the general adjustability of everything.  This really has it all going on.
