Most people do. I think it's related to that pack animal tendency we have.

I just finished my third liter of water since coming home and I'm eyeing the empty bottle in irritation. I think perhaps for next canvass I will bring more water than I did today.

Hrm, I think perhaps tribal or herd animal is the phrase you're looking for. Pack animals are animals that carry baggage, like mules or camels. And, admittedly, humans do carry baggage, but...

Yes. Although ration carefully, because you don't want to have to ask to pee at every house.

I felt like I could run forever, like I could smell the wind and feel the grass under my feet, and just run forever.

Especially since our canvassing has very strict rules that says we should absolutely not go into people's houses. I'd have to ask if they mind if I crouch behind the bushes in their front yard, and that sounds like it might make it a lot more difficult to sway them to our cause.

It really would. Let's be honest, any situation involving assisting with a stranger's bodily fluids is unlikely to be an attractive enticement. Even "Vote for our candidate! Can I use your bathroom?" is of limited persuasive value. Understandable and worthy of assistance, certainly, but not as persuasive.

Socialized with the volunteers by canvassing a neighborhood from 9:00 to noon. Then we watched Wrath of Khan and then I took a nap because I was exhausted, probably from earlier. Felt sort of bad for wasting time napping, but I will focus on resting as an important part of healing and recovery and strive to change that attitude.

Excellent work on all fronts! And yes, your body would not have asked for nap without reason.

It varies, I like trying new skincare things. But the two I keep coming back to are:

CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion (the AM version has sunscreen filters and I prefer using a separate sunscreen). Almost anything CeraVe is fantastic and good for sensitive skin. I use their cleansers and soap bars as well.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. This one's heavier and awesome for dry winters.

I never mind talking skin care ;)

Thank you! I was wondering if you might use CeraVe - it's sad that "scent free moisturiser" narrows down the field so much.  I use their moisturising lotion and really like it.

It looks like the First Aid moisturiser is available in the UK! It would be great to have something stronger for winter - I will definitely keep that one in mind.

One of my skincare YouTubers is in the UK and she uses it, so it's definitely possible to get that brand in the UK. (I actually left out a couple of brands that are difficult to get in Europe, unless you are willing to direct import from online vendors based in Asia. We can come back to those if you are interested.) Note that the First Aid cream is available in several versions, and only the original is free of added fragrance. It does have some essential oils, if that concerns anyone.

As for fragrance free skincare, Eucerin is another great brand that is almost entirely fragrance free, and more and more brands are starting to offer that as an option. It's easier to find than it used to be, though still not as common as it should be.

I actually sleep between 3.5 and 5 hours per night Monday through Friday and then try to compensate by sleeping 8-9 hours on weekends. Yes, I know this is neither healthy or sustainable. It factored into deciding to do sleep goals this challenge.

I can relate, though I find it hard to get it back in the week-end either, waking up before I really should. 5 hours should be a bare minimum but, of course, you know all of that. Keep on taming the Hydra, one head at a time.

Legally bound to hug people in need.

Living life as a Druid is about walking with the beasts. It's about being scared, looking your fears in the eyes and going on anyway. Dread doesn't go away, you just learn to know it. It's still a beast, it still has fangs, but you walk among it.

It looks as though, generally speaking, pack animal refers to haulage, and pack hunter refers to the group hunting behavior. (As opposed to, say, cats, which tend to live in social groups on average, but are usually solitary hunters.) Humans are on the list of pack hunters. Though I note the first article does indicate that occasionally pack animal is used to mean pack hunter.

That's so interesting, I'm subconsciously doing something like this when falling asleep. For example relaxing my face and not thinking for 10 seconds. It only works if I'm tired enough though, it seldom works during the day when I want to nap. But it's still a useful metric, if I can't fall asleep within a few minutes it probably means I'm not tired enough. Alternatively, if I can't make my brain shut up for 10 seconds it means I have to get up and write them down before trying again.

Challenge update:

I have split the routine building into two parts. Part 1 is to get in the habit of doing the tasks on the list. For now, the order i do them in, is less important than getting them all done. Once the habit is established, we will add the timing.

Progress on the habit forming is slow, but there is progress almost every evening. Messed up and forgot a bunch of the tasks last night, but am resolved to move on and do better tonight.

And I think I will add the routine draft to the first post in this thread to make it easier to find in the future. Bleh.

Fair enough. Though linking a behaviour to a specific time is more habit forming, it's certainly not the only way to get the job done.

I'm sure it is, but setting a bed time for myself is the more difficult part, and there are stronger incentives to getting the tasks done, so I'm starting with the easier part. :)

This morning I woke up from the cramping my right calf muscle was doing. I have no idea why it was doing this, but it was very painful and and not a pleasant way to wake up. After getting out of bed a bit later, walking the dog and meditating, I had to reboot my work computer twice before it grudgingly agreed to acknowledge the internet and connect to the company VPN. Such a great way to start the day. 🙄

But now it is evening. I have set up the coffee pot, and set my alarm for tomorrow, and I am currently lounging on one of the couches in our living room. Husband is on the other couch, going over all of the map in Jedi: Fallen Order and hunting for all the collectibles before beating the game. I have my laptop, a glass of whiskey to sip from  and a large number browser tabs open with guides for where to find all the collectibles in the game. Team work!

We used to do this together all the time and we both love it. I have no idea why we stopped. We should do this more often.

Still tender, surprisingly. I started gently stretching it at intervals all day yesterday, and I can feel it loosen up when I do, so I've kept doing that.

Set my alarm for 9:30 this morning and proceeded to sleep through it. Husband woke me up about a half hour later, reminding me that I'd asked him not to let me sleep the weekend away, since that would sabotage the sleep goal. I forgot to set out today's clothes last night, but I did remember to prep the coffee pot, so we're still making progress.
