RES Posted July 24, 2021 Report Share Posted July 24, 2021 So for those that are new, I'm moving, sometime in the near future...my wife was offered an amazing position in Atlanta to away we go!! I realized this is the 10th state I will have lived in. We will be moving back to Florida once we retire. There is a lot to do to prepare to sell the house...this challenge will be focused on that. After zero week it will be me and the animals here, hopefully I can get most of the big things done and be able to focus on maintaining after that. The Plan... Cardio - I'm going to plan on and hold myself to 20 minutes on the treadmill 3-4x a week and one strength training a week. This is doable in the time before work and still allows me time to get ready without having to sacrifice sleep. Treadmill has been sold, C is now Cleaning (and with that, packing up the house) once this is done I will use the Fiton app for workouts (because D won't be here and I can use the living room space ) Update - Post in thread three times a week. Totally following because there's a slight chance I may be moving from FL to Atlanta in my future, so I need to hear how this all happens. I, too, was a big up-and-goer and now it seems like a much bigger deal. Also, FL is my jam and I don't want to go, but I've never been to Atlanta and that city sounds pretty amazing. RES Posted August 4, 2021 Author Report Share Posted August 4, 2021 So we met with the realtor, listed the house, had to pack up all personal items and get a couple things done...pictures were last Wednesday, listing went live on Friday, two open houses over the weekend while we were in Atlanta...and we are under contract as of Sunday night! Closing is scheduled for the 31st, I need to research corporate housing that allows pets in case we don't find anything we can seamlessly transition into after we close on this house. Inspection is this Friday... Monday I had an interview in Atlanta, while I was getting ready (ie: combing my hair) I experienced the most excruciating pain in my back/side I have ever had, giving birth and my car wreck were nothing compared to this. Went to my chiropractor Tuesday back in JAX and somehow I managed to separate a rib?! It's still very tender so needless to say workouts have not been happening, and probably won't until this improves! This market right now is just so nuts and I'm super excited about the sale. Hopefully something will come to market in the ATL that will be right up both your alleys. Please tell us that you're looking in the suburbs, I can't imagine how much it would cost to live in the city. I have family that live out in Alpharetta, beautiful area. The job was not really a good fit and the worst thing about the buyer backing out is that they waited until the last minute and I'm pretty sure the financing fell through. We have two offers we're considering and three showings tomorrow so hopefully soon. Went to a baseball game with my middle child Thursday and a Jags preseason football game last night with D. So this....Thursday we ended up having six showings, and received three offers...we took the cash one and have two conventional as backup. Closing is supposed to be on the 30th now. I'm seriously trying not to freak out about everything that needs to be done. D has been great through all of this, she even cooked my favorite (cheeseburger casserole) for me to eat this week before she left today. She grilled a bunch of stuff we had last weekend for me to eat last week...she's really making an effort not to put it all on me this time. I'll be turning in a four week notice at work tomorrow, the U-packs arrive on Friday, next weekend will be spent getting those loaded, then they come get them to ship to Atlanta (where they will store them till we have a place) on the 28th. Mystic is going up today with D, Tarp was supposed to be going as well but we're not able to catch him. We're going to have to explore alternatives for that. DK will stay with me until I head up there, Dash will probably go next weekend...Weekend after next I will most likely be at the mama's until the 10th or 11th if we go to a friend of ours anniversary bash. D and I had a good talk this weekend about my feelings about not having a job to go to when I go up there, which may change by then but as of right now it's the way it is...after the events of two years ago it bothered and worried me that I would have to depend on her for financial support, even if it's only temporary, I didn't want to feel like a burden.
