[Mad Hatter] Shut up and do it already

Recommended Posts

Hello, my name is Hatter and I'm a commitment-phobe. 😄 This is the third challenge in a row I've procrastinated because I didn't want to set goals haha. This time, the procrastination was disguised as a week of figuring out the right challenge theme. 🙈 But you know what, I've decided that I'm officially bored of overthinking and doubting. 😉

I have two goals:

Art daily and train daily. Very simple. 😄 The biggest challenge will be my day job as there are lots of things happening, including crunch time for the project I'm leading. While fixing everybody else's problems. 🙄 Oh and we also got a curve ball that we'll be restructuring our teams from next week. I'm expecting the worst, but I refuse to let my work continue to be an energy sinkhole.

Art daily

Finish foundations course

Daily painting workout

Train daily

Priority 1: Climbing - for the next 3 months until my local gym membership expires. My mini goal is to figure out that board style.

Priority 2: Handstands - because classes are starting on Tuesday! I really wish I had done some more prep haha, it's going to be a sad return. 😛

Priority 3: Things that are supposedly good for me - stretching, running, core, strength training...

Procrastination is evil and destructive, and a vicious boss to fight if you haven't stocked up on energy potions.

You'll get no judgement from me for procrastinating. Even if I felt inclined to judge, I'd probably not get around to it till later.

:D Very interesting discussions coming from your thread by the way (sorry I'm in lurking mode :P)

Today did noooot go according to plan. First, my sleep was shite. Second, my tummy's been so bloated all day I couldn't even put pants on without pain. For real, I look 4 months pregnant. 😭

But I did try.

Training:

- I warmed up for handstands, but bailed when my coordination was nowhere to be found and being upside down felt really icky anyway.

- Trialed a random core video from a climbing PT. Only one set of 6 exercises mind.

- In the evening I tried ring pull-ups, and amazingly enough I did 2 in the second set! I've been "stuck" at 1.3 for a whiiile. Yes I'm counting the third. 😉Also I say "stuck", but it's not like I've been training for them, I just assume that they will magically pop back.

- A few random push-ups. These and the pull-ups I only really did to feel less like a balloon, albeit momentarily. 😛

Art:

- I tried to continue a painting workout where I left it off from 10 days or so ago. It didn't work very well. It was a hard exercise, my original drawing was a mess and the equivalent Procreate brush looks terrible, which all added to the struggle. I still did a little, but then I shifted gears to properly absorbing the demo instead.

- Made a few thumbnails for the course project.

Misc:

- Not current goals, but I felt good about myself for both cooking AND cleaning up after cooking!

- It started raining as I was drinking coffee in my outside spot, but it didn't deter me from my morning swim. 🙂

Amateur. :P If I eat too much, I can easily hit the five-month mark. And I've been pregnant, so I know. ;)

You know, for someone who had poor sleep and painful bloating, I think you did quite well. And overcame the procrastination to get going in all categories. Not bad at all.

Trying is the most important bit for consistency right? I’m a little jelly you got that second pullup, but cheering for you!
also great that you got that morning swim in :)

Yay!

Oh no, that sounds awful. The bloating I mean. The pregnancy I don't know. :P

Thanks! I really need to learn to overcome this thing where I only do things when they're convenient and I'm in the mood.

Yesss, you did it, you kept going and did something, that is a win in my book. :) And even did more pullups than usually. Nice!!

Thanks!

So they say, but don't ask me. :P If I can up my pull-ups so can you! Though it was a nice surprise. Maybe there's hope after all haha.

Soft and squishy are lovely qualities! Explode-y less so.

Haha! I read that as you tried to get pregnant.

But for real, your trying looked great to me. Keep on trying... at whatever it is ;)

Ew no. I mean. Umm. No thanks. :P

How was today?

Hmmm not ideal, but not bad! :)

Training

I went to the climbing gym,  but I got thwarted by millions of little people running around EVERYWHERE! Ok maybe not millions, there were about kids 10 doing a course. But they were LOUD. And excessively... bouncy. I left pretty swiftly.

But at least I got the extra walk and a morning swim in.

Art

I had a looot of trouble mustering energy after work, but I forced myself to start the workout anyway. It went badly. And then my pencil died. I really wanted to bail at this point, but instead I cooked dinner (two days in a row yo!) and then went back to finish up the painting. Go me! Funnily enough, eventually I managed to find my groove and it stopped feeling like a fight but like I was learning.

Sure, but I remember from before I disappeared that you have some natural talent and were already making some adorable drawings.  :)

There's a reason I'm waiting until Thursday or Friday to check out the climbing gym.  Kids will be back in school, and I can avoid them entirely by ducking in around lunchtime.  I actually like kids, but not anywhere near the climbing wall when I'm trying to climb.  They don't understand any of the climbing etiquette, and I end up being paranoid that I'll fall on them.  I also get super annoyed with the parents who aren't supervising them nearly as closely as they should be.

Ugh, I know how you feel. I hate it when loads of tiny kids are using the power rack.
