Strickland5 Posted August 2, 2021 Report Share Posted August 2, 2021 Greetings program! . . . wait Alright let's get to it! Goal 1 - RUNNING! Just signed up for the Oakland 2022 Marathon!!!! Got to figure out a training plan but first we have to keep the running habit happening We are looking to run 3 days a week with distances of 3 to 5 miles during the week and 5+ on the weekends. We are also signed up for a 5K on Sept 12th which should be a good test Goal 2 STRETCH To keep from having trouble running - we're going to try to do 3 days of yoga between the runs. This will likely be very low impact and boring yoga but still Goal 3 Training Plan To go with all this we need a plan, I'll be looking into what's out there and try to find what will work for us. Strickland5 Posted August 3, 2021 Author Report Share Posted August 3, 2021 We knocked out a 3 miler this morning, and you couldn't have asked for much better weather wise - 55°F with clouds Spent some time yesterday looking at marathon plans and think we're going to do the Hal Higdon Novice 2 plan as it is an 18 week plan. We are near the base miles suggested - so we will be working toward getting in longer weekend runs and hopefully not over training First of the month means bills around here - so that was done yesterday. Tossed money into the savings account which sadly is only earning 0.4% interest, probably should look around for something with a better rate... I'll toss that on the to-do list. Let's see what else ... pondering tossing my ICRPG one-off group (aka my D&D group when the current DM is out of town) into a game of The Mecha Hack. This was a success - sometimes we had to pivot due to smoke or not feeling well but we did manage to get 3 runs in a week all over 3 miles Goal 2 STRETCH BIG failure here -- we got yoga mats but never started the habit of pre-bedtime yoga... will kick this to the next challenge Goal 3 Training Plan Picked this pretty early, so yay!
