Hello witches and wizards, and welcome back to Hogwarts this September! I'm Professor Annyshay, the current headmistress of Hogwarts. You've been sorted into your houses and are ready to tuck into a delicious feast. Now it's time for me to say a few brief words before we start the term. This year the houses will be working together to support general wellbeing.

Gryffindor = Breathwork

It takes courage for me to be present in my body without trying to change anything. Breathwork can be anywhere from 5-30 minutes. I'm aiming to do it most days of the week.

Hufflepuff = Snacks

I ten to skip snacks and go too long between meals and then get a bit shaky. I'm going to be more intentional about aiming to have a morning and afternoon snack.

Ravenclaw = Writing

I'm trying to get back into the habit of creative writing, but this will start with keeping my streak on 4thewords.com. That means writing 444 words a day.

Slytherin = Decluttering

Since I'm moving across country, I need to be ruthless with my possessions and get rid of the things that don't truly bring me joy. I'm going to try to do at least 15 minutes of decluttering each day.

More details will come as you go through your time here, but for now... let's eat!

Hi, I'm Professor Annyshay. I've been with NF since 2012.

I have a darling cat that doesn't know that he's 12 years old. His name is Dragon. He's an orange tabby.

I developed an eating disorder and had to pump the breaks on a lot of the aspects of Nerd Fitness. Healing and health have looked very different for me since I was diagnosed, but I still love this community and the support that it offers in making healthy choices. That said, you will not find intentional weight loss (IWL), weighing, or calories on my thread.

I practice intuitive eating. Movement is a choice. Mindset work is foundational for me as I move forward in the world.

I'm moving cross country back to Minnesota at the end of October. I can't wait for a fresh start with my job.

It makes sense to return to Hogwarts because wherever I may roam, Hogwarts is my home.

Greetings, Headmistress Annyshay!

Just popping down from the mountains to wish you well this round. I like. Your structure, and the house assignments. Moving is always a beast, so I’m glad you’re putting it on the list.

444 words a day is a fantastic goal! May Rowena bless your pen.

Good morning, Professor @annyshay

I'd like to express my growing concerns about the lack of responses to our complaints about the chimney in the house common room. We reported a couple weeks ago that the smoke was becoming a problem, and several of the white owls were starting to look a bit gray.  As advised by the school caretaker we stopped using the fireplace until the obstruction in the chimney could be addressed.

We are now approaching the colder part of the year, and it is a matter of time before the lack of a fire in our common room becomes a cause of discomfort. Your prompt attention to this matter will be greatly appreciated.

With sincere regards,

Scaly Freak

Prefect,

Dear Denizens of Hogwarts,

The situation with the chimney in the Slytherin common room has been rectified, however Filch will be moving slower than usual for the forseeable future. I would like to remind all students, staff, and professors that Professor Hagrid's Blast-Ended Skrewts are not meant to be handled outside of the classroom by students and certainly do not belong in enclosed spaces.

Below find a report on your progress this last week.

Gryffindor - No breathwork happened.

Hufflepuff - I did great with this and restocked my supplies at work. Going really well.

Ravenclaw - Kept up my daily streak and did a lot more than that.

Slytherin - No decluttering yet.

Be good to each other, Professor Annyshay.

Dear Professor Annyshay,

Things are good down in the Hufflepuff common room. 💛 We heard a rumor about a shed full of chocolate frogs.  Can we get our hands on those? They make great fertilizer for the Amoricus  bushes.

Professor Annyshay,

On behalf of everyone in House Slytherin, our heartfelt thanks for your assistance with the chimney situation. Our common room is comfortable again.

I feel obligated to apologize for the immature prank played yesterday by the two Slytherin students who stole a couple of pet toads, and enchanted them to look and act like chocolate frogs. That kind of pettiness is unworthy of House Slytherin, and I assure you the students in question have been disciplined.

Please meet with Groundskeeper Snarky at your earliest convenience to discuss the removal of the chocolate frogs. May your bushes grow lustrously!

Oh, Prof. Annyshay, I think you've given us the gift of fun, and I appreciate you for it.

My thanks to Prefect Tank and the Hufflepuffs for helping me with the frogs! No serious damage was done, Prefect Scaly,  but I did eat some of those frogs, so I'm relieved they weren't your student's frogs.   😜:frog:

BUT, if you're looking for a good consequence, I have a lot of chocolate droppings that need swept out of the shed, and those two troublemakers are welcome to get it done. What do you think, Professor Annyshay?  that sounds fair I'm so busy with all my regular chores, I have to teach the pumpkins to sing the spooky songs for when they become jack-o-lanterns, and relocate the were-chipmunks from the Womping Willow back into the Forbidden Forest, I don't have time to clean up after the messes of pranksters.  :D

Groundskeeper Snarky,

The two pranksters have ben instructed to go straight to the shed after class this afternoon, with strict instructions to assist with chocolate frog clean-up, and with any other chores that may need doing.

Prefect Scaly

Joining you on this!

Trying to declutter/tidy my bedroom as it is shaped differently and will hold all my precious items instead of an entire apartment for a bit!
And also feel you on the move, mine is 90 miles over cross country...  but I hope the snow waits for you a bit this year.

Where in MN you moving to? (Feel free to not answer... I have just moved to the metro area).

There totally wasn't an issue of the frogs because I kept trying to find Headmistress's card...

Good, I need some motivation and accountability with the decluttering. I'm still 0/0 with that one. 😕

Decluttering is something I really struggle with. I don't know if it's a side-effect of being force to leave most of my belongings behind when I moved to the US, but it is extremely difficult for me to get rid of things. The longer I have had them, the more difficult it becomes to get rid of it, and as a result, things accumulate in boxes and corners.

Do you know what your struggle with decluttering is? Tackling the root cause might help you get started.
