Wednesday Update

DDG and I had plans for dinner so I tried to keep as many calories left over for dinner as possible.  Luckily it was a very busy work day so I never got around the breakfast or an afternoon snack.  I only fasted 14.75 hours but dinner was super late the night before.  I fasted until 12:15 so I just had lunch.  We went to a college soccer game in the evening so I suggested we park at the stadium as usual but walk to this burger place we hadn't been to in years and then walk back in time for the game.  The place is the Old Mattress Factory, or The Matt, and is housed in an actual old mattress factory downtown.  I intended to have a burger but instead I got the Smoke Pit Sandwich.  It had smoked beef and BBQ pulled pork with cheddar on a jalapeno corn meal bread.  It was perfectly greasy and absolutely divine.  The short walk back to the stadium was a lot more difficult than the walk there.   I had trouble logging my dinner.  I had pre-logged a burger and fries and it came in at 700-800 calories.  I've been logging enough to know what 700 calories feels like and this was definitely more.  I tried logging the components and came in around 900-1000 which seemed to match my experience.  Since I didn't eat much during the day I still came in 273 calories under target.  The scale did not get the memo but there was a lot of sodium and carbs. Oh, and totally worth it.

Somehow I hadn't heard of them until a couple years ago despite them being A THING.   They are now one of my favorite fall things.

Well boy howdy did I fall behind.    I'm still here but I haven't really bothered to make any updates.  I've had trouble getting back to my fitness routine since the days off for a migraine.  I had to mow the yard on Sunday and got moving again.  I made a schedule for the week and then promptly disregarded the entire thing and haven't done anything since.  Fasting continues to go well.  I am averaging 15 hours of fasting and that even includes today when I chucked that out the window too and grabbed McDonald's for breakfast after 12 and a half hours of fasting.   I have also struggled a bit with food choices.  I didn't feel like doing my batch cooking on Sunday so I had a frozen pizza.  Monday Peach and I had planned on making homemade pizzas.  Then Tuesday I was chatting via text with DDG and said I had a case of the 'I don't wannas'.  So he ordered me a pizza and had it delivered.  Now I have tons of pizza leftovers.  DDG was over Wednesday night and we did the batch cooking.   It was the the last date I'd feel safe to cook the chicken I had bought so it was do it or lose it.  We made a Caesar chicken dish from breaded chicken breast seared and then added to a creamy sauce with parmesan cheese, garlic, half and half, and Caesar dressing and baked until tender and bubbly.  I air fried some baby potatoes and made some peas on the side.  It was absolutely delish so I'm glad I didn't pitch the chicken instead.  I am straddled with leftovers again so I don't plan to batch cook anytime soon.  Unfortunately, or fortunately, most of the leftovers are pizza.  I do have 2 more servings of chicken and also some browned hamburger to make a MaidRite sandwich some night.    I've gone over on calories 3 times this week, all due to pizza - frozen, homemade, and delivery.  I have a calorie surplus for the week but only of 335 calories.  Not the end of the world.  

 

I've suddenly felt some urgency on the home projects.  They got put on hold over the summer but DDG moves into my place in 4 months and MY HOUSE is NOT READY.  In particular my closet is an absolute mess and he says he can just use totes I know that is ridiculous.  However, I am not interested in merely cleaning up my closet.  I want to completely redo it.   I went to a shop here and worked with a closet designer.  It was tons of fun and I love the design we came up with but their price for materials was around $1500 and that was with the 20% sale.  I've spend numerous nights researching other DIY stores and pricing out other options.  I think I found a way to create the same design with IKEA products for $360.   I'm stoked.  We are planning a trip to Kansas City, which has the closest IKEA to us so we can check it out and make sure we like how it looks in person.  And then we'll be bringing it home with us.  

I've also ordered some wallpaper samples for redoing the dining room and turning it into an office since DDG works from home.  I ordered 8 and we currently have it narrowed down to 3.  I should post a picture and crowd source! 

 

That pretty much sums up my week.

Thursday Update

I was a very strange day.  I had to start the day working from home because Peach had a dentist appointment at the same time as I had a meeting and we are basically sharing a car.  I still had to go into the office once she was back because my boss is s stickler for being in person.  I decided to grab McDonald's on the way because I wanted to.  I broke fast early for it.  I wasn't hungry for lunch at the usual time because of it.  I was starting to get hungry by 1pm but I had to do a yearly appraisal for an employee (not a great one).  I figured I eat after that.  It was booked for half an hour.  It took 2.  I was hangry by the end.  I still managed to get interrupted a couple times and it took another half hour to get to lunch.  Such a late lunch botched up dinner.  I wasn't really hungry for a full meal.  Peach had made herself a turkey bacon sub for dinner and made an extra slice of bacon.  I just had that slice and some baked chips.  Peach and I had virtual conferences with her teachers and they went exceptionally well so she asked for Dairy Queen.  That seemed like the perfect dinner too.  I got a small salted toffee fudge blizzard but didn't like it.  I barely ate any.  I would have come in well under target but I snacked on some more chips late in the evening and some pumpkin creme cookies.  I still had 60 calories to spare so eating junk all day seemed to work really well.  

 

Peach and I ran out and picked out some paint colors to go with the wallpapers we had picked out and then tried to pick a color for the master closet.  After getting DQ we hung out on the back patio for quite awhile.  It was a very nice evening.  

 

Here are the top wallpaper samples for the dining room soon to be office.  It's a half basement room so there is an odd ledge about halfway up the wall on one side.  The top of that wall will get wallpaper and the rest of the room will be painted with a color matching the wallpaper background.

The sample is terrible since the print is so big.  I posted the image from the site to show the rest of the print.   I got samples in both black and blue backgrounds.  I'd be using the blue background.

Those 2 are my favorites and I'm torn between them.  The pond one is DDG's favorite but I think only because he likes the background color better and it wouldn't be as dark as these other two.

Weekend Update

I had an enjoyable weekend but I'm not really putting any effort into my goals.  I'm ready for the next challenge but the goals aren't really going to be drastically different.  I'm not making any headway either so maybe they need to be drastically different.   Maybe I'm just eating pizza too often.  

DDG was is going to be busy most of this week as his youngest is home for fall break.   Since I had some free time this weekend I decided to make some painting happen.  I spent the evening prepping the game room.  I got everything off the walls and spackled all the holes; there were a million of them.  Dinner was the leftovers from the homemade pizza.  Some of the crust had been soggy so I tried reheating it in a pan first but I got distracted and left it too long.  It was still good but a little burnt. Fasting was difficult since I had eaten some late night snacks the night before.   I did manage a little over 13 hours.   Lunch was free at work as a customer appreciation event from the cafeteria. They had BBQ pulled pork sandwiches with collard greens, beans, and potato salad.  I don't like any of those sides so I just had a sandwich and the baked chips I had brought for my regular lunch.  My fitbit's battery was too low Friday so none of my steps counted.  That messed up my calorie target on Noom.  I just grabbed an average from previous days.  I theoretically had calories left over.   But then I went over to a friend's place to hang out and catch up.  We drank a lot of peanut butter whiskey.  I didn't log any of it.  Apparently there are 78 calories per ounce! By my calculation there are 25 ounces per bottle, we had about 2/3 of the bottle between the two of us so that's 8 servings and over 600 calories.  That's just wrong.  Whiskey shouldn't have any calories anyway.  I'm sticking with not logging them.  

 

Needless to say I slept in on Saturday.  I had leftover Domino's for breakfast at lunch time.   I only fasted 11 hours because I binge ate some popcorner chips when I got home the night before. I spent some time in the morning getting more prep work done in the game room but for the life of me I can't recall what that was.  Ah, wait - the spackling was Saturday.  Friday was whiskey.  DDG and I did have a date in the afternoon.  There was a traveling exhibit with the art from the Sistine Chapel.  It was a warehouse space and attempted to display it on the ceiling but there wasn't enough room.  It was a fun afternoon regardless.   We went to a college soccer game in the evening.  We parked at the stadium and walked to a burger place downtown.  It was disappointing.  But I'm counting it as a walk and I stayed under my calorie target for the day.   

 

I was on my own Sunday.  I got some really good sleep and finally slept off all the rest of the whiskey affects.   I spent the day painting.  The room used to be Qbert's room when he was young and it had been designed as a Harry Potter room with a fake brick paint effect.  That came through the paint so I needed two coats.  I finished the first coat all the way around, including all the trim work that seems to take ages then had time to get a 2nd coat on the wall with the TV.  I did take a number of breaks and watched a few episodes of You.  Lunch was a miadrite sandwich with the leftover hamburger from pizza night.  I had some grapes and Popcorner chips with it.  After getting as much as the 2nd coat done as I could I took another break for some pizza while it dried.  I was anxious to put some stuff up.  I painted it pink.  I don't normally like pink but I was inspired and once stuff is on the walls I don't think it will be overbearing.  I put in a frozen pizza and basically snarked 3/4 in about 15 minutes.   After a much longer break this time I finished up by putting some of the stuff back in the game room on the walls that are completed.  I'm really quite love it!  It still needs another coat on the opposite wall and then I have to figure out where the art will go.  I'm trying not to commit because for now it will have one TV but once DDG moves in we've decided to put two in next to each other.  Then I can play Xbox or watch trash TV on one while he watches soccer or plays on the Switch.  It'll be epic.  I wanted to wait and post pictures once it's all done but I'm quite excited about the progress pics so that's below.   I was within 1 calorie of my target even with all that pizza, unless I got the portions wrong as the scale did not agree.  I didn't pay any attention to fasting.  I totally counted the painting as a strength workout.  There were squats and step ups.  My hammies are screaming today.

Monday Update

Not much of consequence to note.  I fasted 16 hours.  It was easier since I had eaten early the night before and it had been a heavy meal.  Meals were the usual during work with no significant snacking, or any at all.  I don't even think I had any dark chocolate.  I did snack reasonable on some Pocorner chips when I got home from work.  Dinner was leftover breaded Caesar chicken with some roasted potatoes and air fried brussell sprouts.  It was ridiculously good.  I was under calorie target by 140.  I did finish up the painting.  I didn't have as much to do but I did count it as bare minimum fitness.    The art work is still not up but I'm counting the room as done.  There's a bunch of loose ends I pulled out of the room that are now piled in the hallway.  That will have to be dealt with before I can move on to other projects.

Tuesday Update

I was quite hungry most of the day.  I managed to fast 14 and a half hours.  Meals at work were the usual but earlier than usual.  Then I had some cheese and crackers around my usual lunch time.  That mostly hit the spot and I had planned to have more leftover pizza for dinner so I stayed away from snacking the rest of the afternoon.  I didn't want to eat until I had gone for a walk, not only because I'm not likely to get the walk in but I also needed the exercise calories for the pizza.  I chatted with Peach for a bit first before she went off to dance.  Then I took the dog out with me for a walk.  It wasn't long; just 1.25 miles.  Then dinner and couch surfing the rest of the night.   I did have some of the apple cider donut Oreos so I ended up over calories by 130 (2 Oreo's).

What I'm hearing is that 30 oreos a day can satisfy my calorie requirements....

I think I've discovered a new diet trend. 

White Ghost nailed that one.  This is not new.  I could survive on Oreo's alone but the thing is would 30 Oreo's do it?

This challenge has finally come to a close.  It's been a moderate success.  

 

Eat MORE - I did this but just barely.  I went well over my calorie target 10 days of the challenge but the overall average deficit was 16 calories a day.  That's a further deficit based on the deficit built into my Noom app.  It's not much of a deficit.  I did lose a couple pounds during the challenge but that doesn't really mean anything since I've been fluctuating between 248 and 252 for the most part and I'm still in that range.  

 

Fast MORE - This was a real success.  It's been a long time since I've been able to fast consistency.  There were only a handful of days when I didn't make at least 14 hours.  The average was 14.8 hours of fasting throughout the challenge.  

 

Move MORE - There was improvement here but I didn't quite hit the goal.  I missed some fitness days for a migraine mid challenge and then lost the momentum.  Overall the average was 3.2 fitness days a week (3.5 if I ignore the migraine days).  The goal was 5.   It's not bad.  

 

I'm ready to move on to a clean spreadsheet and fill it with success.  New challenge link will be posted soon!

'Tis the perfect part of the work day to get my new challenge posted.  I've already started following a number of you lovely folks but alas the new challenge forum has up and run off!  any one know where it went?
