Consistently Seeking Consistency: Tanktimus Moves on After a Hover

Recommended Posts

In the last challenge I chose to hover my progress on my KB workouts rather than have a stall forced upon me. It worked, and I started progressing again, but then consistency suffered. In the last two weeks of the challenge I only got one workout per week. While I'm not beating myself up for that, I am seeking consistent workouts. I have goals:

2-3 KB workouts per week. I do the NF Beginner Kettle Bell workout. I'm currently using a fifteen pound bell, and very slowly adding reps rather than racing to the top. I found two challenges ago this helps with consistency.

5 words. Something else I want consistency in is writing. I have a google doc set up, and the goal is to write at least five words a day in it. It's something specific, and I'll reveal what it is at a later date.

Cook, and continue with intuitive eating. A word of warning, don't come here hungry. I tend to be...descriptive about the things I cook.

Those are good, solid goals.

Love a good mystery!!

Welcome!

Today is a day. I did not do a KB workout, despite having the time. I got sucked into a video game, and barely gave myself time enough to make lunch. That spiked my anxiety as I rushed to cook. I did some Bare Minimum Stretches™ but that was about it. I did, however, get writing in. Still feeling a bit down about not getting the workout, but as I write this I remember I can simply observe the "down" feelings without ascribing value to them or feeling obligated by them to do something.

...

And we're back. That helped.

Lunch was good. I cooked some rice with just water and salt. I also nuked a couple of packages of broccoli florets. Concurrently I cooked some chopped chicken thighs in avocado oil. I dumped the chicken, rice, and broccoli in a casserole dish. Next I melted 1/4 c butter in the chicken skillet, and added 1/4 c flour and mixed. I then added 8 oz sour cream and some chicken broth and stirred. I dumped that in the casserole dish and stirred. I then melted 2 tbsp butter in the skillet and toasted some panko bread crumbs in it, and put that on top of everything in the casserole dish. I topped it all with poppy seeds and put the whole thing in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.

My reaction is torn between "wow, that sounds amazing" and "wow, that's a lot of butter". Actually, maybe not - is 1/4c = 1/8 pint?

The total in the recipe was 6 tbsps, which is 85 grams.  The 4 tbsps  (1/4 c) that went into the roux was 57.6 grams. 1 cup is half of an American pint, so it would be 1/8 of an American pint, but only about 1/10 of an Imperial Pint.

DruidApproved detached acknowledgement of feeling down. This is the essence of “sitting with that.”

Nicely done.

Of course lunch was amazing.

When the universe conspires to have our paths cross, it will be nice to swap off the cooking. Yesterday I made simmered chicken breasts with vegetables and herbs (and all the butter) and today I’m taking the leftovers (about half) and making it into chicken noodle soup with roasted vegetables and there’s going to be *way* more than I can eat. Also, inspired by you, I might use rice for the soup instead of egg noodles. You just never know. :)

On the writing front: Are you writing longhand or digitally?

Sending you good thoughts today, as always.

Digitally for sure. Longhand is good for journaling and self-care, but the secret writing isn't of that nature. Julia Child would approve of our butter consumption.

Today is a good day. Got the workout in, and it felt good to have done it, though I could feel the noddley arms and legs right away. Did some stuff around the house, and got Little Bit. We hung out outside quite a bit, and got Subway for dinner.
