Chesire Posted October 21, 2021 Report Share Posted October 21, 2021 The world is depending upon me! Or, really, my world is depending upon me. Why isn't stretching a habit by now?? And rolling? I feel better in all the ways when I do it. But nope. Even last time when it was on my fancy schmancy daily to-do list it was not treated with the love and attention it deserves for all that it does for me. This time that changes! I hope. I have a short and simple list of three things goals; body, brains, and batcave. Body! Stretch quickly after each fitness session and stretch/roll 4 days per week in the evening minimum. Brains! Select a task each night for the next day that involves advancing my skills in some way. Currently the necessary scope is in learning these newfangled sewing machines.... excuse me, sewing computers, and advancing my craft skills in crochet, knit, and sewing. Batcave! MrC and I have possibly ironed out a sharing of household cleaning tasks. I had him pick the things he dislikes least, and I'll get the rest. I have to do mine. Ideally I will tackle 4 short (10-20 minute) sessions per week will complete my portion when combined with the agreed upon rules of 1. don't leave a room empty-handed and 2. 5 minutes of just picking up at the end of the day. It's just the two of us and two animals, so hopefully this is reasonable. I'm betting that there is a bit of wishful thinking with the whole 5 minutes being enough 😆 but it sounds less intense that way. So no fitness so far this week, some very limited stretching. Hopefully some batcave work today since I'm a bit more energetic. But I've actually had the interest to dress up for Halloween this year! That is a massive improvement mentally. Chesire Posted November 2, 2021 Author Report Share Posted November 2, 2021 I didn't have a lot of time to focus on me stuff last weekend since I was out of the house from early to late Saturday, and Sunday was get all those Saturday things done day. I was able to spend some time on behind-the-scenes batcave stuff, ie going through wardrobe and bring out cold weather stuff while purging a few things, and cleaning up drawers, etc. Yesterday I did ST that I'd been neglecting in favor of running/walking when I could last week. I'm feeling the pull up training today. Hopefully I won't have a ton of lifting to do today. Also, my friend and I are ironing out details for a conscious alcohol consumption challenge; each customizing for ourselves since our needs are different. My issue isn't a need to go dry. I've done that. I need to learn how to consume with awareness and proper control. So the basic rules are: Sun-Wed 1 drink total for the 4 days Thurs or Fri 2 total for one of these days (allowing for end of week unwinds) Sat 2 total There is no "saving up" Before each and every one I must honestly ask "is this actual want or habit?" Have a plan for the tough times, esp 4pm to dinner time. After dinner isn't an issue, so is this wanting something besides water or is it calories? Any drink or snack is permitted here if it changes the habit. Any holiday 2 total. Sip with awareness. Savor and enjoy. If I'm just going to drink it down, get something else to have handy. My personal struggle is allowing it in my life with control. I've done dry and know I can without issue. Had my first below freezing run of the season, did stretching, batkitchen is cleaner, crafty corner is neater, overcame a crochet-conundrum and making headway again. Next weekend I will be away at a crafting retreat so I need to plan and pack for that. It's a weekend of too much sitting and eating so I will do my best to adjust my fitness and diet this week in preparation. I'm not concerned about diet since the candy is basically gone If I feel up to it I will try to fit some exercise into my usual rest days (Tues and Wed). Batcave work this week will be spent cleaning up the spare room that often becomes a dumping ground. Currently it's full of piles of Halloween decorations and craft supplies (see above) that need to go to their proper container. I'm going to finish up a chapter of the training I started last week. I'm phrasing that actively with the idea that it makes it so. But I got 4 of 7 stuck in my head for all the categories very quickly, so that's what it's become. And I'm not planning it the day before. Anyway, I did the benchmark test and am very pleased with the progress I've made on my own since the last time I checked in any way* Finally it has been a successful week with the new alcohol challenge. Only one rough day that was absolutely rooted in habit and I recognized a specific habit that applies to crunchy snacks as much as it does alcohol ie; steal one more as I put it away. very different for chips vs drinks. *note to self: return to doing progress checks during zero weeks.
