Chesire, for the good of the world, you need to stretch!

The world is depending upon me!  Or, really, my world is depending upon me.

Why isn't stretching a habit by now??  And rolling?  I feel better in all the ways when I do it.  But nope.    Even last time when it was on my fancy schmancy daily to-do list it was not treated with the love and attention it deserves for all that it does for me.

This time that changes!  I hope.   I have a short and simple list of three things goals; body, brains, and batcave.

Body!  Stretch quickly after each fitness session and stretch/roll 4 days per week in the evening minimum.

Brains!  Select a task each night for the next day that involves advancing my skills in some way.  Currently the necessary scope is in learning these newfangled sewing machines.... excuse me, sewing computers, and advancing my craft skills in crochet, knit, and sewing.

Batcave!  MrC and I have possibly ironed out a sharing of household cleaning tasks.  I had him pick the things he dislikes least, and I'll get the rest.   I have to do mine.  Ideally I will tackle 4 short (10-20 minute) sessions per week will complete my portion when combined with the agreed upon rules of 1. don't leave a room empty-handed and 2. 5 minutes of just picking up at the end of the day.   It's just the two of us and two animals, so hopefully this is reasonable.

But really, when it comes right down to it, this is all about the stretching habit.

Are you me?? I really need to follow along for some streching inspo and butt-kicking because I seriously never make the time to do it.

This seems like one of thsoe things that sounds really easy, but is in reality very hard. Like stretching I guess. 😅 Best of luck!

I had to giggle at this... for me its usually me and takes quite a bit of time...  Learning to put stuff away after each day has been an interesting struggle...

Glad doesn't take you as long, may the stretching me awesome!

I always suggested to my clients that stretching didn't have to be this huge dedicated thing, just do a bit while watching tv in the evening.  I'm going to try to take my own advice  😅

Yeah.....  I'm betting that there is a bit of wishful thinking with the whole 5 minutes being enough  😆 but it sounds less intense that way.  Secretly what I really hope is that I'll (we'll- this is a two person situation🤞) start picking up At The Time! and then the end of the day thing will be mostly just a quick check.

I need to get in the habit of doing it after my runs. Way too often I get back from a run and go straight to sitting for 8+ hours. 😬 That is good advice though - even a little is better than none!

I don't know what you're talking about......   nope.

In related news, I had my best run pace for the year yesterday.  don't ask about stretching, please.  I did some today!

It's been a rough week.  I've just been so run down.  Maybe getting the flu shot just took it out of me this time.  So no fitness so far this week, some very limited stretching.  Hopefully some batcave work today since I'm a bit more energetic.

But I've actually had the interest to dress up for Halloween this year!  That is a massive improvement mentally.  Also, my boss is a costume junky too; I easily talked her into dressing up every day this week.

I hope the costume dressing up went well!

This is the first Halloween I didn't dress up in a few years(homemade baked goods though was a first).

The costumes went well.  I decided using things I had actually made was best given I work in a fabric and yarn store :)

Unfortunately I didn't take any pics, never even thought of it.

first was generic ren faire wool tunic dress, cloak, leggings and boots

second was Maleficent with black dress that has done duty as black angel and Morticia

third was Snow White.

And now I realize this made me look kind of Disney focused!  LOL

The most exciting part was they all still fit/ fit again*!  Some of these have been around for years!

*Only had to make one easy adjustment because I have bigger arms now (Strength training win)

I didn't have a lot of time to focus on me stuff last weekend since I was out of the house from early to late Saturday, and Sunday was get all those Saturday things done day.

I was able to spend some time on behind-the-scenes batcave stuff, ie going through wardrobe and bring out cold weather stuff while purging a few things, and cleaning up drawers, etc.

Yesterday I did ST that I'd been neglecting in favor of running/walking when I could last week.  I'm feeling the pull up training today.  Hopefully I won't have a ton of lifting to do today.

I'm doing it right now!

week 1:  now that I look at it, it was a decent week

body: 3 out of 4 stretching

brain: 4 of 4 learning and/or doing

batcave: 3 out of 4 cleaning, decent but not great on picking up

so far week 2:

body:  2 of 4 stretching  (finishing tonight's right after I enter this!

brain: 3 of 4 working on a project

batcave: 1 of 4 cleaning.  Looks like I'll be be busy the next few days :)  Picking up going well.

I did it!  I stretched immediately upon finishing my run!  HUZZAH!  But that doesn't count for the end of the day stretching.

Also, my friend and I are ironing out details for a conscious alcohol consumption challenge; each customizing for ourselves since our needs are different.  My issue isn't a need to go dry.  I've done that.  I need to learn how to consume with awareness and proper control.  Will report back with the final plan.

Woohoo! I've been neglecting the post run stretching. It's so important though!

Love this! It can be real easy to lose mindfulness around alcohol consumption at the holidays. Can't wait to hear the final plan!

Alcohol awareness challenge!

So the basic rules are:

  1.  Sun-Wed 1 drink total for the 4 days
  2.   Thurs or Fri 2 total for one of these days (allowing for end of week unwinds)
  3. Sat 2 total
  4.   There is no "saving up"
  5. Before each and every one I must honestly ask "is this actual want or habit?"
  6. Have a plan for the tough times, esp 4pm to dinner time.  After dinner isn't an issue, so is this wanting something besides water or is it calories?  Any drink or snack is permitted here if it changes the habit.
  7. Any holiday 2 total.
  8. Sip with awareness.  Savor and enjoy.  If I'm just going to drink it down, get something else to have handy.

My personal struggle is allowing it in my life with control.  I've done dry and know I can without issue.

My friend has a slightly different struggle so her personal rules are a little different, but we are checking in with each other at least once per week on this specific topic.

Good weekend for challenge focus.

Had my first below freezing run of the season, did stretching, batkitchen is cleaner, crafty corner is neater, overcame a crochet-conundrum and making headway again.

Next weekend I will be away at a crafting retreat so I need to plan and pack for that.  It's a weekend of too much sitting and eating so I will do my best to adjust my fitness and diet this week in preparation.  I'm not concerned about diet since the candy is basically gone :) If I feel up to it I will try to fit some exercise into my usual rest days (Tues and Wed).

Batcave work this week will be spent cleaning up the spare room that often becomes a dumping ground.  Currently it's full of piles of Halloween decorations and craft supplies (see above) that need to go to their proper container.

I'm going to finish up a chapter of the training I started last week.  I'm phrasing that actively with the idea that it makes it so.

So far this week I've managed to take successful steps toward saving my world.  Take a look

body  🌎🌎▪️🌎  🔲🔲🔲       after a lot of sitting stretching will happen naturally

brains  🌍🌏▪️▪️🔲🔲🔲       the weekend is going to fill this out nicely

batcave 🌎▪️▪️🌏🔲🔲🔲     looks like I need to do a quick something before it's time to leave today and plan something Sunday

I know I originally planned to iron out my brains (giggle) the night before and I didn't specify how many thereby assuming every night.  But I got 4 of 7 stuck in my head for all the categories very quickly, so that's what it's become.   And I'm not planning it the day before.  I can't always plan what the day will throw at me and therefore what I'll have time and energy for.

Thanks!  Yesterday's wasn't quite as cold...  It's amazing how much more effort it takes to move with layered pants!  Also, can't forget tissues again.

I successfully switched up rest days to active days with the help of time change, husband work coverage, and doggy walking needs!  MrC couldn't do his usual afternoon walk and I wasn't going to do an after dark walk alone if it could be avoided.  So pups and I went at daybreak, which she loves and she made me interval run those few miles.  counts in my book.

I'm on the fence about continuing my NFPrime membership at the end of the year.  But then they go and release a new BW ST challenge that calls my name.  I have time to finish that before my time is up, and I'll decide along the way whether to invest in that again or do my thing with Academy and forums.   Anyway, I did the benchmark test and am very pleased with the progress I've made on my own since the last time I checked in any way*

Finally it has been a successful week with the new alcohol challenge.  Only one rough day that was absolutely rooted in habit and I recognized a specific habit that applies to crunchy snacks as much as it does alcohol ie; steal one more as I put it away.  very different for chips vs drinks.

*note to self:  return to doing progress checks during zero weeks.

It was a great crafty weekend.  I'm very happy with what I managed to accomplish.

Last week's wrap up

body  🌎🌎▪️🌎  ▪️ ▪️▪️- missed one officially, but I was pretty good about stretching through the day on Sat

brains  🌍🌏▪️▪️🌎 🌏🌍- excellent

batcave 🌎▪️▪️🌏🌍▪️ ▪️-missed one, but being away didn't help!

alcohol  0 0 1 2 1 2 0  - successful week

Saved my world this week, but it was close.  Need to buckle down and get bendy this week.
