Scholar and Cat: Initial Quest

Recommended Posts

Dearest Challengers,

This is my introduction and my first challenge here. Just learning the ropes and seeing if this is for me.

These are my general goals to improve on what I already do - I just want to be more mindful and confident in them.

🥀 STRENGTH 🥀

My strength goal is to progress onto "heavier" weights - I'm brand new to lifting and fairly weak, especially in the upper body.

i) Squat: 25kg -> 35kg

ii) Bench Press: 20kg -> 25kg

iii) Barbell Row: 20kg -> 25kg

iv) Overhead Press: 10kg -> 20kg

v) Deadlift: 35kg -> 50kg

💐 WISDOM 💐

My wisdom goal is therapy work  - overall I'm hoping to gain enough clarity to come up with 3 new therapy goals before the start of CBT.

i) Meditation/Journaling

ii) Poetry/Reading

iii) Art

iv) Play time: dancing, dress up, theatre etc.

🌱 CRAFTS 🌱

My crafts goal is to improve my knitting - I've only ever finished one knitting project, so just finishing a few will be a learning experience for me.

i) Finish 3 knitting projects

Welcome to the Rebellion, we're so glad you're here!! Looks like you've got some great general goals to strive for. I especially love the idea of therapy through play and art. ❤️   Some of us find it helpful to come up with how we'll be tracking our goals, in order to stay accountable. Like, what's your goal for wisdom work – once a week, or try each one out once during the challenge? I definitely think coming up with a regular schedule can help you succeed!

Hello,

I don't really know how to reply to everyone on here but thank you for commenting and being interested.

I would definitely make interacting more with the community as part of my next challenge, but it's quite daunting how much detail people are wanting in these challenges!

Currently at:

Squat: 37.5kg (Passed my original goal - extension to 45kg?)

Bench: 25kg (Too scared to move ahead as I'm unsure about my form)

Barbell Row: 22.5kg (I haven't been moving up the weight because I just feel silly doing this exercise)

Overhead Press: 15kg

Deadlift: 50kg! (Although again, too scared to move ahead as I'm unsure about my form)

Started new therapy this week, i'm hoping to continue to really keep at the things I've listed, as I've only really wrote in my journal and nothing else so far

I only finished one project, a tote bag - to be honest, when setting this challenge I thought it would motivate me to finish the other projects that have been left on the unfinished pile - but it just made me miserable. I'll try and push on til the end date though ❤️

Best Wishes to everyone who reads this comment - hope your plans and adventures are going well

I know this feeling.   For what it's worth, I find following the simpler challenges less stressful.  ;) The wall of text in some of them is overwhelming.   Or pick one or two nerds to interact with.

No!  They are supposed to be fun!  If you want to add knitting in again maybe make it a process goal, not a production goal?  Like 10min/day a 3x/week?  I say this as someone who always has to rip back (last rip back was over 20 rows on a sweater that I was 25 rows in) and therefore takes f.o.r.e.v.e.r. to finish something.

Final thought; something is better than nothing.  Even if you only do 1 thing, it is 1 thing you might not have done otherwise.

Some of us (not naming names, of course) use these these challenges as their own personal diaries and write waaaaay too much. (ok, it's me.) But you can write whatever level of detail makes sense to you! Happy to follow along either way. We'd love to see you interact on here more! Personally, I do find that the more often I post and check in with other people, the more likely I am to stick to me goals. See what works for you!
