I'm experimenting with workout schedules.  That's the science. 

 

In my last challenge, linked here:  

 

I had the following goals: 

Goal 1: Workout every day.  

Goal 2. Eat more, earlier in the day, and in smaller portions to avoid bingeing at night; and everything should be clean.

Goal 3. Water/Sleep: 6 cups at least & 6 hours at least.

 

I'm not changing the goals for this challenge, I probably won't change the goals for a while.  But because my completion chart looked like this at the end of the challenge,....

 I figured I should reevaluate my workout schedule.  I to see more green this time around. 

 

Changing my schedule around to look like this: 

 

Sunday,--Cardio: preferably hikes to build endurance, (Is there anything better on a Sunday afternoon?),  but since the weather will be iffy over the next month, anything will be fine.  

Monday--Weights: RDLs + (Bench & Lats) or (Rows & Shoulders)  

Tuesday--Cardio:  Doesn't matter what kind.

Wednesday: Jujitsu & Abs/Core work,  If no jujitsu class -> Weights again

Thursday- Yoga:  I usually have church activities on Thursdays, so I get home very late and in varying states of fed/hungry.  So I'd rather do something simple and at home, while I get ready for bed.  

Friday-Abs/Core work:  I run my errands on Friday nights, so I need something I can do at home, that's relatively quick.  If all else fails, 1min. planks suffice just fine. 

Saturday- Weights again.

I know this challenge is only three weeks, but I didn't feel like making  a new chart, now or in the future.   I'm also going to start a week now, and go the week after Christmas.  Because my main goal going into next year is to workout consistently, so there is no point in taking a week off anywhere and disrupting that.   

 

I'm less tired than I was a few months ago, and my strength and endurance are slowly picking up, so I know at least something is working.

Having more strength and endurance, even if it seems to be progressing slowly, is actually huge. I feel as if I gain strength so slowly, but little wins spread over a long time tend to add up

It is always lovely to see other jui-jitsu folks out there, especially us ladies.  Wahoo!  I'd love to hear about your practice and what you love most about it!  

 

Yay! More Ju-Jitsu women!  I practice Sido-Ryu Kempo Jitsu, and Aiki-Jujitsu.   I'm a second degree in Kempo-Jitsu.  I also have a black belt in Taekwondo, from way back, and a few years in Tungsoodo and Judo. 

What I like about Jujitsu is the versatility.  There are catalogs like the Hakaryu method (I'm sure a spelled that wrong), which just aim to disarm and control, without causing lasting damage; and there are also combat catalogs, that are designed for, well, combat.  My favorite is the Aiki-Jitsu, which is basically just getting out of the way and letting the opponent throw himself, with a little help. ;)

I was so pleased with I put up my 7.5 ft. tree over the weekend by myself.  Instead of lots of little branches, it's in four sections, two small, and two large, and cumbersome.  When I first bought the tree, five years ago; I could lift the box easily, and surprised the store employees.  But the past few years, I really struggled to get it from storage to the living room, and once had to call my brother over to help me put it together and take it apart.   However, this weekend, without even thinking about it, I just carried it out and set it up.  I was going to do deadlifts with the box, as my Saturday workout, before I set it up; but it was too light to use for deadlifts.

So, after all my talk, I missed yesterday's workout.  It's ok, the schedule is still new, so I'll just consider this an adjustment period.   I did a cardio workout to day.  10 min. of Zumba.  I've gotten better about my water lately.

This has been a nightmare week for me.  The first full week of the month is law week, (I'm an family law attorney, and Guardian ad Litem covering every single juvenile abuse and neglect case in five counties). During law week, I spend each day of the week in a different  county going over case statuses in court and making recommendations about the direction of cases. The process takes anywhere from 4-12 hours, every day of law week.  It's necessary and exhausting, and I can't do too much else during that week.  However, that didn't stop the universe from throwing me several curve balls.  My plumbing backed up and it took several, creative days before the plumber could come and look at it.  Then my mom fell.  They discharged her that day, but she wasn't doing very well over the next couple days, today my brother sent her back to the hospital.  Turns out she cracked a rib during her fall, and now because she has respiratory  issues and  congestive heart failure, and had to miss a day of dialysis because of the pain from the fall; she became too fluid-y and developed pneumonia. I think this is her fourth or fifth time with pneumonia in 8 years.  It's difficult to eat right and exercise during law week, normally.  But this week was impossible.  I'm tired, I'm upset, and I don't care that I missed a week of goals.

I've decided to take a vacation next week.  It will be a staycation, and I'll probably still work on a few things; just without a schedule.  But I've never actually taken a vacation before, and I think I could really use one right now to readjust my head.
