It was a tough week but I kicked things into gear over the weekend and managed some loss for the week.  Workouts will be tough to get in this week but I'm planning to keep nutrition dialed in.  Stir fry on the meal plan for the week so plenty of veggies!  

Nice work! Overcoming a tough week is honestly great. Even if the margins aren't as big as we would like some weeks, those little wins can add up to big wins over time! I hope you crush it this week!

Sorry about the plateau! I think it's great to go for walks and move a bit. I know I feel inertia toward not moving if I have been working all day. I wish I was better about working out before the day begins and I can get my exercise out of the way then, but I am not a morning person at all and struggle with this. 

 

Good luck with the nutrition. I hope that you don't have to change too much to see progress. Maybe a fine tuning here and there is all you need. Good luck!

If you feel like you are doing the right things give it a bit more time.  Sometimes our bodies need to adjust to things before the scale starts moving again.  Otherwise your ideas to get things moving again are solid!

 

 

Quick update - I made it on the scale today down 2.5 pounds this week, WOW!  Not having seconds or a ton of snacks is helping a lot.  Now to add more veggies into my meals!

Weighed myself today. Didn't lose any weight, but I was down almost an inch in my belly, so things are going in the right direction

That is great! It could be that you have a bit more water weight, and that next week will be a big win for you. Stay on the path! 

 

As for me, I went to a basketball game last night and there weren't many healthy choices for food. I ended up breaking the diet a bit and had a cheeseburger and fries. I often will overeat fries but this time I left some on the plate and felt like that was a good decision. I'll be back on track today so it shouldn't diminish my momentum.

Great decision!  It's always the fries that get me when I eat out for burgers.  It's always the fries I regret too, never the burger.  Except maybe a concession stand burger but sometimes that can't be helped.  

 

I've had 3 really great days in a row and the scale isn't budging.  I'm remaining confident the magic will happen soon.

This is me x100000. Fries destroy my digestive system (I have a hard time with anything fried) but I can handle burgers without a problem. And yet, whenever I get burgers, I always get fries and I always regret it later. So showing any restraint at all yesterday was pretty nice!

No change in weight this week. I didn't have a terrible week but I didn't have a great one either -- hence my weight not budging. There's a big winter storm coming my way this weekend so I hope I just don't hunker down and overeat since there won't be much to do. I'm hoping to do some home workouts (and shovel snow) so at least I will be a little bit active. I'm hoping to catch up on some reading as well.

I was glad to finally see results from a good week.  The weather drastically improved over the weekend and I was able to get a few walks in.  I think that helped get things moving.   There's a cold snap later this week so I'm trying to take advantage while I can.

Finally got below my starting weight :D for now I will count that as a win since my rib has just healed enough to let me start working out again.

Now what to do with the gourmet popcorn package my boss sent me, I'm going to have to learn restraint and remind myself to only eat one portion instead of the whole thing!

Weighed in today and lost a pound since last week. The week before, I hadn't lost. I've been aiming for about a half pound a week, so I think  my calorie goal is about right.

Lunar New Year! Happy Water Tiger, everyone! Dry January is over and the new year is good an excuse as any for a doubling down on weight loss.

 

I’m having google issues, meaning I can’t access the spreadsheet for now, but my weight has bounced up and down by a pound or so around starting weight. Currently just below start weight (156 —> 155.1). It would probably be worse if I were doing everything right and had no idea why I’m not losing. My issue is that I have a habit of eating like a jerk (but it doesn’t count because I don’t track it). Well, I’m bringing in some positive new water tiger energy and jumping back on the tracking bandwagon. Did it yesterday, and calories weren’t too bad, about 1950. So far so good for tracking today. And I have a 9 day streak going of crushing my active caloric burn goal. 🔥

I get you on this.  I was derailed for over a year and got out of the habit of logging food.  It was tough to get back in the habit but progress coincided with making that change.  It's not a coincidence!

Mid-week check in! How are you all doing?

 

I had a really bad Saturday as I went over my calorie limit by a large amount. There was a huge snowstorm in the northeast so I stayed in and had hot cocoa and a ton of cookies. And then last night was my niece's birthday and I once again went out-of-control with my calories as I overindulged with birthday cake and cookies yet again. 

 

I did track everything, so I stayed on the path in that respect. 

 

Once again I am struggling with having a moderate amount of sugar. Instead of controlling myself, I blow right past any constraints because I wasn't mindful enough about what I would eat ahead of time. I have to remember to go in with a plan and stick to it. This weekend I was not mindful enough. It's ok, I can learn from it. 

 

And today is better! I weigh myself on Fridays so I still have three days to right the ship. I need to accept my blip of the last few days and move on.

Backtracked a little.  I expected to as I celebrated my birthday with food and also family was in town unexpectedly that did result in two extra nights out.  I'm looking forward to getting right back to business this week.  I counted the weekend as a Weekend 0 and I'm starting up with a fresh challenge today.  No week 0 for me.

I didn't! Weighed in at 4am bright and early before I hit the road for my weekly work commute at 228! I saw 227.2 yesterday so I think we can safely say I've established at least some semblance of control over my health habits. 

 

Happy to see a negative score on my line of the spreadsheet at least 😁

I am down 1.6 pounds from last week :D

 

That is only 0.4 pounds from my starting weight because the week before last was not good. I didn't even go off the rails with my eating. We have fewer tempting treats in the house now, but that is only part of the story.

 

One thing I changed last week was that I stopped tracking. I know that tracking is helping everyone else, but it has not been helping me. I have never counted calories because all my food is made from scratch and it is just too much work to weigh ingredients and calculate it all. I have been logging my food for years. If it was going to help, it would have already done that.

 

I know that my problem is emotional eating. I am looking at different ways to target that. One is to have alternative rewards that are not food-based. I have been taking breaks to card wool, and that helps. On weekends I eat two meals (brunch and supper) instead of three. During the week I am shooting for a solid breakfast and lunch and a much lighter supper with no food after 7pm. I am not restricting sweets because that backfires emotionally. Instead I say "I'll just have a small serving now and I can have more later if I want some".  That gets my brain out of a scarcity mindset (eat it now or it will be GONE).

 

I think my next step is going to be not having commercial chocolate or sweets around. I will need to get my partner Dumbledore on board for that. I had some 100% chocolate today and it was more satisfying than part of a chocolate bar. I still have some Tony's Chocolonely bars in my stash. I like their chocolate and their moral stance. I don't like the format of the bars. They have interesting patterns that do not break easily into small pieces. I often end up eating more chocolate than I intended because I broke off a big piece. Sure, there are ways to solve that problem, but it would be better to avoid it. Having more veggies would be good too, but that will be another step.
